Chapter 23: Meow (Part 2)
Looking at Jiang Suifeng’s extremely aggrieved text message, Jing Zhi typed and deleted several times in the chat box, finally sending one: [No dinner for you tonight.]
Not long after, Jiang Suifeng came back happily.
“Big Papa!” Seeing the familiar figure enter his field of vision, Jing Mimi looked surprised. He stopped playing with the toy in his hand and ran over with his short legs, da da da.
Before Little Papa came back in the afternoon, Big Papa suddenly said he had something to do and left for a while. He didn’t expect him to be gone for so long.
Jiang Suifeng picked him up immediately, his smiling gaze falling on Jing Zhi sitting aside.
Jing Zhi looked away, not looking at him, and because Mimi was there, he didn’t say anything.
Jiang Suifeng took the initiative: “I ordered takeout.”
The response was Jing Zhi’s “No dinner for you tonight.”
Jing Zhi still ignored him.
Jiang Suifeng didn’t mind; instead, he was in a good mood.
Little Jing’s personality was a bit awkward, but it didn’t matter; he could interpret it well.
If he really wanted him to leave, he wouldn’t use the excuse of not having dinner for him to drive him away, giving him a loophole to exploit. Instead, he would directly tell him not to cling.
Jing Mimi nestled in Big Papa’s arms. Seeing Big Papa seemed to be talking to Little Papa, but Little Papa ignored him, he couldn’t help but feel anxious.
This won’t do!
The kitten must take some action!
Jing Mimi suddenly spoke: “Big Papa, I want to get down.”
Jiang Suifeng had just returned and held him for only a moment. He didn’t expect him to want to get down so soon. Although feeling a little disappointed, he cooperated and put him down steadily on the ground.
This feeling was similar to returning home and holding the kitten in his arms, only for the kitten to break free after a while and refuse to be held.
As soon as his feet touched the ground, Jing Mimi took Big Papa’s hand and walked to Little Papa.
Big Papa’s palm was even bigger than Little Papa’s, so he simply grabbed his fingers for easier grip.
With the big and small figures in front of him, Jing Zhi couldn’t pretend nothing happened and look elsewhere anymore.
The little disappointment in Jiang Suifeng’s heart vanished instantly, and he secretly praised: Good cub.
Jing Mimi suddenly reached out his small hand, touched slightly below Jing Zhi’s lower back, and rubbed it gently.
Jiang Suifeng looked confused, not knowing what the little guy was doing, but Jing Zhi quickly thought of something.
Jing Mimi’s next words confirmed Jing Zhi’s guess: “Grandma said Little Papa burned his butt red playing with fireworks when he was little. Rub it for Little Papa.”
Because Little Papa was sitting on the bed, he could only rub below the lower back.
Although it was dark history, Jing Zhi was quite moved that the little guy remembered it until now.
But Jing Mimi’s next sentence dealt him a heavy blow: “Big Papa rub for Little Papa too.”
Jing Mimi’s thought was simple—he could see that Big Papa wanted to reconcile with Little Papa, otherwise he wouldn’t have initiated conversation. So now the one who needed coaxing was Little Papa. He wanted to create more opportunities for Big Papa to coax Little Papa.
Grandma just told him about Little Papa getting injured when he was little today, so he thought of helping Little Papa rub it.
Many injuries leave traces. When the kitten Mimi was wandering before, he injured one of his legs. That leg would hurt from time to time. Not so painful that he couldn’t walk or affect daily life, but it couldn’t be ignored. It felt better when his papas rubbed it for him.
Jing Zhi refused immediately without thinking: “No need.”
But Jiang Suifeng’s hand had already reached over immediately.
Jing Zhi quickly grabbed his hand, but was still caught off guard and had his butt pinched.
Jing Zhi could only rejoice secretly that Bai Ying went to buy food, and the family of three in the next bed also went out to eat. Now there were only the three of them in the ward.
With Mimi present, afraid of hurting his feelings by rejecting his kindness, Jing Zhi could only quietly hold Jiang Suifeng’s hand, trying to control this restless hand.
However, the effect was minimal.
Jiang Suifeng was very strong. Within the scope of not letting Mimi discover anything wrong, he couldn’t be controlled at all. Because of this action, Jiang Suifeng leaned down, getting extremely close to him.
Having been together for seven years, they had done everything they could do. Jing Zhi wouldn’t blush in front of him, no matter how close, even negative distance.
Therefore, he just glared slightly, warning the person leaning over.
Jiang Suifeng knew what reaction from Jing Zhi meant he was really angry, and what reaction meant he could be “bullied” a bit more.
The current reaction belonged to the latter category.
So he unscrupulously continued to rub him together with the little cub.
Jing Mimi’s voice sounded again soon: “Is Little Papa’s butt still red?”
Jing Zhi: “…”
Can we please stop fixating on my butt?
Jing Zhi was just about to explain that it had been so many years and it healed long ago, when he heard Jiang Suifeng beat him to it: “I don’t know. Do you want to go to the bathroom and help Little Papa check?”
Jing Zhi: “…”
Jing Zhi’s eyes looked like he wanted to eat someone.
But Jiang Suifeng was the one who wished to be eaten by him.
It was like wanting to vent anger with a slap, but the other person enjoyed the slap. To slap or not to slap, that was the question.
Jing Zhi was really going to laugh out of anger.
What are you pretending not to know for? You know the answer better than anyone.
Jing Mimi nodded his head seriously, withdrew his small hand, and prepared to go to the bathroom with his papas for inspection.
In his eyes, when he was the kitten Mimi, he couldn’t see his cat butt no matter how he chased his tail. It was the same after becoming the little human Mimi.
Little Papa must be the same as him, needing their help.
With Mimi’s small hand gone, Jing Zhi no longer had any scruples. He stood up directly and pushed Jiang Suifeng away.
Before Jiang Suifeng could react, he quickly scooped up the little cub and went to the bathroom, locking the door, and put down the dazed little cub.
Jiang Suifeng stood alone in the empty ward, smiling helplessly at the air, and sat on the spot where Jing Zhi had been sitting, which still had a little residual warmth.
Not long after, the sound of flushing came from the bathroom. When the flushing sound stopped, the lock clicked, and the door finally opened.
Jing Mimi walked quickly to Jiang Suifeng and said to him, “Big Papa, I checked. It’s not red anymore. Don’t worry.”
Jiang Suifeng smiled and rubbed his little head, quitting while he was ahead and not saying anything deliberately.
He did want to see, but he wanted Jing Zhi to show him willingly even more. Otherwise, just looking without being able to do anything was even more torturous.
Jiang Suifeng started fishing for information again: “What did Mimi talk about with Grandma today?”
Jing Mimi immediately started sharing with him.
Afraid of having his butt rubbed again, Jing Zhi used the excuse of asking about Mimi’s discharge matters and left the room to the big one and the little one.
Mimi’s condition had improved a lot. If nothing unexpected happened, there would be no problem with being discharged on Monday.
When Jing Zhi returned, Jing Mimi was nestled in Jiang Suifeng’s arms watching his phone. The phone was playing the sound of a cartoon, quite familiar.
Because the little guy stared at the locked phone for who knows how long at noon today, Jiang Suifeng had already told him his lock screen password.
245464—the numbers corresponding to “Ai Jing” (Love Jing) on the T9 keypad. A bit cheesy, but cheesiness between lovers was romance.
Unfortunately, the little guy hadn’t learned Pinyin yet, so he couldn’t share it with him, and he wouldn’t understand even if shared.
Jiang Suifeng decided to tell him this secret when he learned Pinyin and could understand the T9 keypad.
Seeing the solemn expression on Jing Mimi’s face, Jing Zhi strode over.
Sure enough, the phone screen showed scenes from Tom and Jerry. He hadn’t heard wrong.
This cartoon was actually quite unfriendly to a kitten turned into a little cub because Tom Cat was always suppressed by Jerry Mouse. Substituting into the cat’s perspective for most of the plot would be very frustrating.
Just as Jing Zhi wanted to ask Jiang Suifeng why he showed him this, he saw Jing Mimi suddenly turn off the phone angrily. The scene before turning it off was Tom being chased by a dog because of Jerry’s scheme.
Jing Zhi: “…”
Jiang Suifeng was closest to him and quickly started coaxing him.
Jing Zhi glared at Jiang Suifeng quickly, thinking he showed him this cartoon to test Mimi’s identity as a kitten.
Jiang Suifeng cried injustice in his heart. It was Mimi who saw the word “Cat” on his phone and insisted on watching it.
After coaxing for a long time, Jing Zhi picked up Jiang Suifeng’s phone, unlocked it with his fingerprint, and opened another cartoon, Rainbow Cat & Blue Rabbit: Legend of the Seven Swords, successfully diverting the little cub’s attention.
The only drawback was that the little cub’s catchphrase became “Young Hero.”
Fortunately, Bai Ying finally returned, and Jiang Suifeng’s takeout also arrived.
The fragrant meal improved the little cub’s mood a lot.
Halfway through the meal, Jing Zhi suddenly received a video call from Fang Yuan.
Jing Zhi was stunned for a moment, then answered.
Today was Sunday, and high schools had evening self-study. Fang Yuan’s background was also in the office.
Fang Yuan got straight to the point: “Did Jiang Suifeng take you to see the psychiatrist?”
Jing Zhi gave a calm “Mmhmm” without changing his expression. “Nothing wrong, don’t worry.”
Off-camera, Jiang Suifeng raised an eyebrow.
He roughly guessed something and tactfully remained silent, not exposing Jing Zhi.
Fang Yuan was indeed quite reassured about Jiang Suifeng. After all, when it came to Jing Zhi’s matters, Jiang Suifeng took them much more seriously than he did.
Jing Mimi was eating by himself tonight. While eating, he watched Little Papa on the call with Uncle Fang Yuan, his little head peeking in from time to time.
Fang Yuan felt a bit regretful. He had changed out of the clothes with the kitten pattern he bought today. Otherwise, he could have shown it to the little guy in the video to salvage some favorability.
Suddenly, he remembered something and said mysteriously, “By the way, let me show you something.”
Jing Mimi leaned in curiously.
In the video screen, a cage suddenly appeared. Inside the cage, a hamster was running on a wheel.
Afraid they couldn’t see clearly, Fang Yuan specially moved the camera closer.
It was the hamster he mentioned before, secretly raised by a student in the dorm but discovered by the dorm manager. It was quite cute, running on the wheel so fast its four paws were almost a blur.
Unexpectedly, Jing Mimi suddenly reached out his small hand and hung up the video call directly.
Annoying mouse…
Bad Uncle Fang Yuan.
Fang Yuan on the other end of the phone: “?”

Fang Yuan: The more I try to gain favorability, the less I get.
Here it is, here it is… When I finished writing the first chapter and went downstairs, I was attacked by a huge cockroach flying up. Almost died [Cracking up]. Only survived by holding onto the breath to update.
