Chapter 20
Gin eventually found out about him being attacked. Asuka Kazuya whined for two hours at the base, not only wiping eye drops all over Gin but also twisting the facts, saying it was all because Rum stopped his card and affected his luck.
He paused to check Gin’s expression, then continued wiping eye drops, vowing to avenge Chianti’s phone.
Vodka thought he might be having a psychotic episode. Afraid of being caught in the crossfire, he looked at the sky, then at the ground, even counting the feathers on a little bird’s head outside, just unable to find a hole to hide in.
“Enough.” Gin looked down, pinching Asuka Kazuya’s head and pulling him away indifferently.
“It was just a little trick with weapons, killing that woman is nothing to you.”
“Stop making excuses, what value does she have to you?”
Gin’s gloves carried a faint scent of tobacco. Asuka Kazuya lowered his head, skillfully escaping from his grasp.
“She has a lot of value. Once I find out where she got the weapons, we can just rob them.”
Vodka was still watching the little bird. He reacted after a moment, wondering why Asuka Kazuya’s voice was getting closer. Turning around, he saw Big Brother staring at him.
Vodka paused, looking at Calvados, who was hiding behind him.
Vodka: “…”
Vodka: “Can you hide somewhere else, Kazuya?! Big Brother! Big Brother, believe me! I’m not on his side!”
Asuka Kazuya: “How can you say that, Vodka? Aren’t we good friends?”
Vodka paused, his heart touched for 0.1 seconds, then realizing that he might have developed Stockholm Syndrome like Bingo.
“Kazuya,” Vodka said expressionlessly, “I have a good memory. I remember when Bourbon first joined, you said you would never be friends with me.”
…Oh, he forgot again.
“Well, times have changed.” Asuka Kazuya waved his hand, coughing twice, deliberately acting frail. “By the way, Bourbon and I are good friends now, Vodka. Did you hear that? If you bully Bourbon, you’re dead.”
Vodka: “…”
Vodka didn’t want to speak, looking at Gin for help.
However, Gin couldn’t be bothered with their affairs. His gaze swept over the lively Asuka Kazuya, seemingly assessing the credibility of his excuse.
This was actually more difficult than stepping on Rum, because Asuka Kazuya often went crazy, his mental state eight hundred years ahead of normal people.
Ever since he passed a lie detector test while saying “I’m the Boss,” Gin no longer trusted those useless machines.
After weighing his options, Gin took out a cigarette from the box.
“That’s enough about the information.” Ignoring Asuka Kazuya’s protests, Gin glanced at him indifferently. “Don’t cause trouble, leave the rest to Bourbon.”
Vodka sometimes felt that Big Brother was quite biased.
Why was it “don’t cause trouble” for Kazuya, but “get out” for him?
Although this kid couldn’t be killed, and beating him up was just a waste of energy, he should at least teach him a lesson!
“What about me?”
Snatching Vodka’s hat and putting it on, Asuka Kazuya asked.
“I’ve almost figured out the group of people in contact with Akemi-nee, when are we taking action?”
Killing Miyano Akemi directly wasn’t ideal. As a member of the organization, besides her relationship with Sherry, Miyano Akemi was somewhat useful in obtaining information or benefits for the organization.
But even so, it wasn’t a reason for Gin to spare her.
There were plenty of ways to make life worse than death. Traitors to the organization had only one fate.
“Doesn’t she want to leave the organization?”
Gin sneered, taking a drag of his cigarette, a murderous smile on his lips.
“Then grant her wish.”
“I’m the mastermind behind the organization, I’m still alive, and due to being attacked, I’m now tied up at the organization’s base by Gin. Venmo me $5000 to hear my revenge plan.”
Bourbon returned from Tanaka Airi’s place, seeing the note Asuka Kazuya left as soon as he entered. He glanced at the missing pair of slippers at the entrance. Although he quickly realized his scheme, he still cooperatively transferred the five thousand.
As soon as the transfer notification sounded, Asuka Kazuya opened the bedroom door.
“Hi, Amuro Tooru.”
Asuka Kazuya, with a bandage around his neck, held the unicorn and greeted him enthusiastically.
“The more I look at you, the more pleasing you are to my eyes.”
Bourbon put the bag in his hand aside: “Did you go bully Vodka again?”
“Vodka’s reactions are more fun.” Asuka Kazuya didn’t answer directly, just saying, “Korn is a bit slow, I asked to borrow his hat and he actually lent it to me, even thoughtfully sending me the purchase link.”
This time he didn’t directly make him buy it for him, a historical improvement.
Bourbon thought, raising his hand to tear off the note on the wall: “You can stick it on Gin’s car next time.”
“Rye was just outside,” Asuka Kazuya thought for a moment. “I should have stuck one on his car too.”
Since Rye had been here, he probably had already discovered the eavesdropping device in Miyano Akemi’s apartment.
Bourbon hadn’t received a signal that the device had been removed, which meant that Rye probably guessed what they were doing, but cleverly chose a different approach.
Bourbon sneered, thinking that guy was indeed a criminal, even willing to abandon his girlfriend.
“Actually, Rye helped me with the second half of the sentence. I originally only wanted 1000 for dinner.”
Bourbon’s blood pressure spiked. He reached out, expressionless: “Give me back the 4000.”
Asuka Kazuya quickly hid his phone and the unicorn behind his back: “Why ask me? Ask Rye for it.”
Bourbon had been planning to settle the score with him anyway.
They were naturally at odds with each other. Bourbon didn’t know why, but the first day he met Rye, he felt that he was like those FBI agents who “didn’t take local police seriously, arrogantly ordering people around.”
Having already beaten Rye up in his mind, Bourbon calmly walked into the living room.
He took a can of soda from the refrigerator: “What else did he say to you?”
“Hmm… mostly asking me about the Boss.”
Asuka Kazuya said it casually, but Bourbon choked.
“You know the Boss?”
“Why are you looking at me with such disbelief?” Asuka Kazuya retorted, giving him a reproachful look. “I’ve contributed so much blood to his research, it would be too stingy of him not to tell me anything.”
Bourbon was silent. He had a lot of rebuttals, but he also felt there were no flaws in Calvados’s words.
The mastermind behind the organization had always been the truth Public Security was pursuing. If they could obtain relevant information, they might be able to take down the entire organization.
Thinking of this, Bourbon inhaled. His expression was serious as he looked directly at Asuka Kazuya.
“His name?”
Bourbon asked.
“Resume, appearance, blood type, anything is fine.”
Asuka Kazuya found him baffling.
“Didn’t pay attention,” Asuka Kazuya replied. “But I can ask for you next time Rum takes me there.”
Hearing this, Bourbon was strangely silent for a few seconds.
He had always thought that only Rum and Gin in the organization could meet the Boss, he didn’t expect this heavyweight to be among them as well.
“Won the lottery again.”
Secretly cheating with his ability, Asuka Kazuya looked at the winning numbers on his phone, happily instructing his subordinate to claim the prize.
“Save it to buy snacks. Bourbon, finder’s keepers, want half?”
Seeing this, Bourbon, who had been wondering why Rum would take him to see the Boss, suddenly understood. He subtly grasped Rum’s thought process, closing his eyes and even guessing what Calvados did every time he went there.
“Don’t ask,”
Afraid of arousing Rum’s suspicion, Bourbon interrupted him.
“I need to talk to Gin about this.”
Asuka Kazuya became alert: “I’m giving you half and you’re still snitching to Big Brother? I misjudged you, Bourbon, I’ll still come and disturb your sleep tonight.”
…Heh.
Bourbon smiled, planning to tie this person up before going to bed.
“You should have noticed, Asuka-kun, every time you’re present, the Boss praises him endlessly, right?”
Now Asuka Kazuya didn’t even care about his lottery ticket.
He put down his phone: “I’m not a mascot.”
“What’s the point of saying that yourself?”
“How dare you, Rum, exploiting me, I’m going to tell Big Brother!”
In just a few minutes, Bourbon had sowed discord between Rum and Calvados, and Rum and Gin.
The cunning Public Security officer silently looked away. Just as he pulled up a chair, he saw Asuka Kazuya leaning closer, asking him how to remove Gin from his blacklist.
Then Asuka Kazuya noticed the black soda in his glass.
Asuka Kazuya: “What are you drinking?”
Bourbon: “Chinese medicine.”
“Does Chinese medicine fizz?”
“…”
“I knew it!”
Asuka Kazuya was furious.
“You’re drinking Coca-Cola in front of me! How is this any different from Rum treating me as a mascot?!”
It’s very different.
Bourbon calmly turned on the TV, seemingly anticipating this, handing him the glass.
“It’s Pepsi.”
“…”
“Try it yourself.”
Asuka Kazuya didn’t understand. Perhaps because Bourbon’s tone was too confident, Asuka Kazuya didn’t react for a moment, even doubting himself.
“It’s still cola,”
Asuka Kazuya said expressionlessly.
“Bourbon, don’t tell me you bought the ‘Problem Child Behavior Correction Guide’ at the door. You’re not messing with me, are you?”
“…”
Bourbon denied it, silently changing the channel.
It seemed the children’s version was underestimating him.
Bourbon thought.
He would ask Scotch to buy him a teenager’s version tomorrow.
