Chapter 7
After getting off the elevator, they passed through a long corridor with latticed glass and entered the dining room from the other side.
Shen Tiantian had only just returned to the Shen family yesterday and couldn’t make sense of its winding paths. Cradled in Shen Jinfeng’s arms, his little eyes grew dizzy from watching.
“Such a long path.”
Shen Tiantian mumbled. When he looked up and saw the somewhat familiar dining room, he finally let out a long sigh of relief.
Shen Jinfeng, who had carried the little brat this far without complaint, couldn’t help but scoff when he heard him sigh.
“What, were you afraid I was going to sell you?”
Shen Tiantian was taken by Auntie Mu-Mu and placed in his baby chair, where he obediently waited for his breakfast.
Hearing his brother’s words, Shen Tiantian pouted and huffed twice.
He didn’t admit it, but he didn’t deny it either.
Shen Jinfeng heard him. He sat down in a dining chair, crossed his legs, folded his arms, and sneered.
“Ungrateful little cub.”
Hearing his brother speak ill of him, Shen Tiantian held his breath, turned his little face away, and clenched his little fists, forcing himself to stay silent.
After holding it in for a long while and swallowing his anger, Shen Tiantian finally pressed his lips together and smiled at the camera uncle’s machine.
“No, that’s not right. What big brother said is wrong. I’m a good baby with a good heart.”
The netizens were dying of laughter at his puffed-up yet restrained expression, and the comments flew by.
[Yes, yes, yes! My cub is a good baby, Shen Jinfeng is the bad guy!]
[The baby fat on his cheeks puffs up when he’s angry, I wanna give them a little smooch!]
[Baby, what’s your favorite color? How about a pink sack?]
Behind the camera, the assistant director held a tablet, monitoring the live stream’s traffic in real-time.
Seeing the screen filled with comments about wanting to “steal the cub” ever since Shen Tiantian appeared, he couldn’t help but smile.
It turned out that his initial idea of using the cubs’ perspective to attract an audience when creating a family variety show was correct.
He had thought that Shen Jinfeng’s group, lacking a child, would have to rely on the unique luxury of a wealthy family’s life to retain viewers. Who would have thought the Shen family actually had another little young master?
His interactions with Shen Jinfeng were also particularly interesting. The live stream’s traffic had been consistently ranked second and was now steadily rising.
First place, naturally, belonged to the top celebrity’s live stream, who was appearing with his child for the first time.
The top celebrity’s fans were extremely loyal and intense. The moment the broadcast started, they began boosting engagement numbers, flooding the screen with so many comments that it was all you could see.
Just as he was about to look away from the tablet, in the next second, a young man with an upright and slender figure walked into the frame.
Shen Xiuze had slightly deep-set eyes and an indifferent expression. His skin was a cool-toned fair, and his features seemed somewhat understated, but paired with his perpetually lowered gaze and the set of his mouth, his aura had a unique kind of coldness.
He walked at a steady, unhurried pace, his eyes downcast, completely ignoring the many crew members filming in the dining room.
His eyes held an aloofness that looked down on everything.
However, given his background and intelligence, he had every right to be so proud.
The comment section exploded again:
[Is this the eldest son of the Shen family, Shen Xiuze?!]
[Shen Yuanchuan’s genes are amazing. Each son is more handsome than the last.]
[Ahhh! I knew it, how could it be the eldest brother’s fault in the fight for the family fortune?! Listen to me, you two brothers should marry me, and the three of us will live a happy life together. Nothing is more important than that!]
[The sister above is being way too shrewd. If you marry in, you’ll also get a cute little brother like Shen Tiantian. You won’t even have to have kids!]
[Hehehe (🤤), what do you guys think if they both pursued me at the same time…]
After Shen Xiuze’s appearance, the live stream’s traffic immediately hit a small peak.
It was clear just how much today’s netizens were driven by good looks.
When Shen Jinfeng saw Shen Xiuze approach, no matter how much he looked down on a phony like him, he still did a good job of keeping up appearances.
Standing up, Shen Jinfeng said, “Big brother.”
Shen Xiuze looked up, surprised to see his unusually obedient brother, but then his eyes fell on the camera to the side, and he understood.
“Sit down and eat.”
Shen Tiantian was holding his little spoon, about to eat his fragrant steamed egg custard.
When he saw Shen Jinfeng stand up to greet Shen Xiuze, the little hand holding a spoonful of egg custard trembled, and he tilted his head, a few little question marks appearing above it.
It wasn’t like this yesterday, was it?
But Shen Tiantian had often heard his cousin muttering that the Shen family had many strict rules and emphasized etiquette, with so many regulations it was suffocating.
Back then, his cousin had been filled with righteous indignation, clenching his little fists and complaining wildly:
“Those two brothers are not good people! If you don’t bow and greet them when you see them, they’ll immediately go and tattle to Shen Yuanchuan, making sure everyone knows how crude and ignorant I am!”
Shen Tiantian had a very good memory. Thinking of this, he looked down at his untouched egg custard and couldn’t help but sigh.
He propped himself up on the little tray of his baby chair and shakily stood up.
“Good morning, big brother~”
Shen Tiantian bowed and greeted him in a milky voice. Afraid that the “not good” brothers would tattle on him, his little head bowed especially low, almost touching his little tummy.
Shen Xiuze’s hand, which was picking up his chopsticks, paused. He and Shen Jinfeng turned their heads at the same time to look at this little brother who was giving a ninety-degree bow while standing in his baby chair.
The corners of Shen Jinfeng’s usually upturned mouth twitched. He exchanged a glance with Shen Xiuze.
Inexplicably, both brothers couldn’t help but laugh at the same time.
Shen Tiantian didn’t hear Shen Xiuze speak. He secretly lifted his little head and saw his two brothers smiling with the corners of their lips silently curled. He was completely bewildered.
“What are you waughing at?”
When Shen Tiantian got anxious, his speech became clumsy.
He wasn’t stupid. Seeing that his two brothers were laughing at him, he put his little hands on his hips, stopped bowing, and questioned them with his little eyes glaring indignantly.
“I’m a polite baby, you can’t laugh at me!”
Shen Jinfeng propped up his face, glanced at Shen Xiuze, whose smile was like the first thaw of frost, and his eyelids lifted slightly as a smile also escaped his lips.
“We’re not laughing at you. We just thought of something funny.”
Shen Tiantian furrowed his little brows and reluctantly believed him.
He huffed, held onto his little tray, and sat back down, making Auntie Mu, who was watching from the side, feel her heart tremble.
“You can’t stand on the chair next time. It’s too dangerous.”
Auntie Mu came over to tuck the little one’s bib in, speaking in a gentle voice. She then poured Shen Tiantian a glass of milk before leaving the dining room.
Shen Tiantian obediently ate his steamed egg custard. His bowl also contained a small meat-filled bun and a red bean paste bun.
He was exceptionally serious and diligent when he ate. His baby-fat cheeks puffed out, and he chewed like a hamster, his round eyes wide as if eating was the only thing that mattered in the world.
He mashed the egg custard with his spoon, stuffed a large spoonful into his mouth, and then pulled it out with a soft pop. You could tell just by looking that he was thoroughly enjoying his food.
On the dining table, besides Shen Tiantian’s favorite little buns and egg custard, there were also Cantonese-style dim sum and Western-style sandwiches and burgers—a rather eclectic mix.
As the older brother, despite his young age, Shen Xiuze was already health-conscious.
He took a few bites of each of the Cantonese morning tea items and then put down his chopsticks.
Seeing Shen Jinfeng eating junk food like a sandwich so early in the morning, Shen Xiuze disapproved, but with the camera present, he couldn’t say much and could only frown slightly.
Shen Jinfeng loved Western fast food. The heat and calories gave his taste buds a thrill, unlike Shen Xiuze’s Cantonese dim sum, which he found bland.
The two looked at each other with mutual dislike and ate their own food, not exchanging another word for the rest of the meal.
[Tiantian is eating so heartily! Cameraman, focus on the cub, I don’t want to watch two handsome guys frowning! It’s not appetizing at all!]
[These two really can’t eat from the same pot. But they’re rich enough to have three different styles of breakfast.]
[My family loves Cantonese morning tea. Let me just say, that Jidi congee in front of Shen Xiuze looks even more exquisite than the one from the authentic shop downstairs from my house!]
[My baby makes food look so delicious! Don’t move the camera, I want to eat breakfast with my baby!]
A large number of comments scrolled by, but most of them were asking the cameraman to film Shen Tiantian.
It couldn’t be helped. Shen Xiuze and Shen Jinfeng’s table manners were too proper. They ate so elegantly that it didn’t stimulate anyone’s appetite.
You had to watch Shen Tiantian!
He took big bites, his cheeks puffed out as he chewed. Paired with his dark, sparkling eyes, and the fact that he didn’t smack his lips, his eating was exceptionally delightful to watch!
This was the kind of eating broadcast they should be watching!
Not watching handsome guys eat with sour faces, looking like they were being tortured!
At the strong request of the netizens, the cameraman mercilessly abandoned the two brothers and turned to film Shen Tiantian instead.
Once Shen Tiantian started eating, he almost forgot about the filming.
The breakfast at the Shen family’s house was more fragrant than the breakfast at his cousin’s house. And if he ate a lot, his aunt wouldn’t slap the back of his hand and call him a little freeloader who only knew how to eat.
This was his daddy’s family’s food. He was going to eat until his little tummy was full, so he would never be hungry again!
Swinging his little feet, Shen Tiantian picked up the glass, tilted his little head back, and gulped down the milk inside in one go.
After finishing his meal, Shen Tiantian let out a long sigh, a milk mustache circling his mouth.
He slumped back in his baby chair, his little tummy stretching his fluffy clothes into a round arc. It was bouncy and springy, and you could tell it would be fun to squish.
Shen Xiuze had already put down his chopsticks, but after glancing at Shen Tiantian eating so heartily, he unconsciously took several more bites.
Even Shen Jinfeng felt that the steak sandwich in his hand wasn’t as appealing anymore.
What’s going on? Are the buns this little thing is eating really that good?
With this thought, Shen Jinfeng didn’t deny himself. He turned his head and asked:
“Auntie Wu, are there any more buns?”
Auntie Wu nodded and brought out a plate of small buns, placing it in the center of the table.
Because they were specially prepared for Shen Tiantian, the buns were made exceptionally small. The custard buns and red bean paste buns were even shaped like little pigs, which was very cute.
Shen Jinfeng didn’t like sweet things, so he picked up his chopsticks and took a meat-filled bun.
He popped the small bun into his mouth in one bite and savored it carefully, finally nodding lightly.
“This bun chef’s skills are quite good. Is he new?”
Auntie Wu replied, “It’s the same chef as before.”
Shen Jinfeng: “That’s strange. The buns today are tastier than before.”
Auntie Wu: “It must be your imagination.”
Shen Tiantian chimed in from the side, nodding in agreement: “Big brother is silly. He can’t even remember the taste of the buns.”
Baby is the smart one. I never forget what I ate yesterday!
