Chapter 24: Kiss Me. p2
“Really drunk?”
Lin Ling poked Shi Changyuan opposite him, then looked at Professor Duan, who was already snoring on the sofa.
“I really didn’t expect that the person who would clean up with me in the end would be Little Lin Ling.”
Miao Xue was also a bit incredulous.
According to the usual script, it should have been Little Lin Ling who couldn’t hold his liquor, got drunk and stumbled around, and was carried back by Shi Changyuan.
Why was it the other way around now?
Why did the CP she shipped have this kind of dynamic?
Miao Xue had also had a little to drink and was a bit tipsy herself. She rubbed her forehead and waved at the young man. “Little Lin Ling can take Professor Shi back first. I’ll call someone to come and clean up and take care of Old Duan.”
“Okay.”
The little zombie had drunk half a bottle of high-proof liquor, but his eyes were still bright and clear, without a trace of haze.
Shi Changyuan was different. He was propping up his head, his eyelashes slightly lowered, sitting there quietly, as if in a daze. But if you looked closely, you would find that his gaze was a bit vacant, and you had to call him several times to get a response.
“Let’s go back.”
The little zombie poked the human opposite him again.
It seemed that Lin Ling’s action was too subtle, only enough to make the other person raise his eyes slightly and shift his gaze.
This was the first time Lin Ling had seen Shi Changyuan like this. He found it extremely novel and stared straight at him, as if he could see a flower on his face.
“Lingling.”
Shi Changyuan’s gaze finally found a focal point and met the little zombie’s eyes. Then he smiled.
This smile was completely different from before. There was nothing in it, no ill intentions, no teasing or sarcasm, no helplessness or indulgence. It was just a simple curving of his eyes and brows.
But it was as if it had a little hook, and it instantly hooked Lin Ling’s gaze, and he couldn’t look away.
The little zombie was not used to making eye contact with people. Normally, he would have hurriedly looked away.
Today was different.
Today, the person opposite him was a drunkard, slow, not sober, already drunk. He could bully him however he wanted, and he wouldn’t fight back.
“Do you still know who I am?”
“I do.”
Shi Changyuan answered in a completely calm tone.
The little zombie was a bit surprised.
He had seen other people get drunk, and they were basically “unrecognizable to their own kin.” They would either dance in the street, or howl like ghosts, or sleep soundly.
When it came to Shi Changyuan, he did nothing, just sat there quietly and smiled at him.
And his smile was quite… handsome.
Lin Ling rubbed his face, stood up abruptly, and broke the not-so-sober atmosphere.
He held out his hand to Shi Changyuan, wanting to take him back.
He waited for a long time, but there was no movement.
Lin Ling couldn’t help but wave his hand in front of Shi Changyuan’s eyes. He was about to call his name again when the waving hand was accurately caught by Shi Changyuan.
He held it in his hand and kneaded it for a moment, then brought it to his lips.
When the skin of his fingertips felt the soft touch of his lips, the little zombie finally woke up as if from a dream and snatched his hand back.
“What’s wrong?”
Miao Xue, who had just finished her call, heard the commotion and looked over.
“Nothing.”
The little zombie held his own hand, rubbing the place Shi Changyuan had just touched, and said with some uncertainty, “He probably wanted to bite me, but missed.”
“Human puppy.”
Lin Ling cursed in a low voice.
To avoid being bitten by the drunk human puppy again, the little zombie stopped asking and domineeringly took his hand, walking quickly towards their residence, in case the human puppy went crazy on the way and bit someone else.
That would be a disaster.
The little zombie imagined the scene with a blank expression, and for some reason, he found it a bit funny.
He would definitely be arrested as a zombie.
“Sister Miao Xue, we’re leaving first. See you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow.”
However, on the way back, the things the little zombie was worried about didn’t happen at all. Shi Changyuan returned to his previous quiet state, letting Lin Ling lead him, not saying a word, just sticking exceptionally close to him.
“He’s really drunk.”
The little zombie opened the door. Having no experience in taking care of people, he planned to first throw the large pendant on the sofa and go take a shower himself.
“Why are you following me?”
The little zombie went back to his room to pick out his pajamas, then went to the bathroom to run the hot water. No matter where he went, the man who should have been sitting on the sofa followed him.
He even wanted to follow him into the bathroom.
Lin Ling held his clothes and hurriedly blocked Shi Changyuan outside his bathroom.
“Go to sleep.”
Shi Changyuan was still blocking the bathroom door, not moving.
Oh, the little zombie suddenly remembered.
The human in front of him was a neat freak. No shower, no bed.
He can’t possibly be expecting me to help him shower, can he? Does that even sound right?!!!
Shi Changyuan hadn’t said or done anything, but Lin Ling had already imagined a whole scenario and was now accusing him with wide eyes.
He took the person in front of him again, forcefully led him to the sofa, and pointed. “If you’re not going to sleep in bed, then sleep here.”
“I’ve checked. You can’t let a drunk person shower by themselves. It’s too easy to have an accident in the bathroom and get hurt.”
“Of course, don’t even think about me helping you!”
“Choose one yourself.”
Lin Ling spoke quickly. Shi Changyuan didn’t seem to understand. He lowered his gaze to the sofa in front of him, his brow slightly furrowed.
It was a sign of displeasure.
He shifted his gaze back to Lin Ling, a “is this how you treat me” expression on his face, which made the little zombie feel a bit guilty.
“I want to take a shower.”
This was the first thing Shi Changyuan had said since he came back. If it weren’t for the slight slurring of his words and the completely different tone from usual, the little zombie might have thought he had sobered up.
“No!”
Lin Ling pulled him back again.
“If you fall in the bathroom, your reputation will be ruined.”
The little zombie thought for a moment and still led Shi Changyuan to his room.
Neatness wasn’t important now. Anyway, they were leaving the city tomorrow. Shi Changyuan could throw the bed away when he woke up.
Lin Ling reached out and tentatively pushed. Shi Changyuan followed his force and sat on the edge of his bed, falling back against the headboard pillow.
“That’s a good boy.”
The little zombie’s eyes curved in satisfaction. Just as he was about to turn and leave, Shi Changyuan once again accurately grabbed Lin Ling’s hand.
He suddenly said, “Kiss me.”
The words were clear and righteous, so much so that Lin Ling was shocked.
“A goodnight kiss.”
Shi Changyuan added.
A goodnight kiss?
The little zombie was stunned for a moment. He knew that humans did have this saying and this custom.
He had heard of it and seen it in various children’s picture books and TV shows.
But… he had never received a goodnight kiss, nor had he ever given one to anyone.
Lin Ling was hesitant and conflicted. Shi Changyuan held his wrist tightly, as if he would not give up until he achieved his goal.
The two of them stood there in a stalemate for several minutes.
Shi Changyuan also looked up, staring at the person in front of him without blinking.
Under that almost scorching gaze, the little zombie still moved closer, leaned down, and quickly pecked Shi Changyuan’s face.
Shi Changyuan sensed the touch, tilted his head, and their lips and the corner of their mouths brushed past each other.
“You missed.”
His tone was clearly disappointed.
“Kiss again…”
The little zombie was shocked again. The tips of his ears burned, but it was not clearly visible in the dim room.
His hand was faster than his brain. Before the words could be fully spoken, he covered Shi Changyuan’s mouth.
Is this what a drunkard is like? Is there no one to stop a drunkard from being a hooligan?!
“I did kiss you!”
Lin Ling said with certainty and conviction.
“There’s no rule about where to kiss for a goodnight kiss. A kiss is a kiss. You have to go to sleep now.”
The little zombie gave Shi Changyuan no chance to speak, his tone carrying a hint of the authoritativeness he had learned from him.
“Be good, you hear me!”
Shi Changyuan’s lower face was covered by Lin Ling, so he couldn’t speak. He could only blink to convey his message.
“I’ll take that as a yes.”
Lin Ling turned on the heat for Shi Changyuan and brought a small blanket to cover him.
After he turned off the light, Shi Changyuan’s eyes slowly closed not long after.
It was over—
Lin Ling let out a long sigh of relief, tiptoed away, and finally paused at the bedroom door for a few seconds to make sure the other person was quiet before he felt at ease and completely closed the door.
The sound of his footsteps fading away outside was much more cheerful and light.
But in the dim room, the moment Lin Ling left and closed the door, Shi Changyuan’s eyes suddenly snapped open.
His gaze was clear, without a trace of drunkenness.
He reached out and gently brushed the place the young man had just kissed with his fingertip, letting out a low laugh.
“It’s a lie to say I’m not in a hurry.”
“Lingling.”
