Chapter 27: High-Speed Wisdom Tooth Extraction
There was no time to lose.
The group immediately left the bomb crater and headed towards the GPS location, afraid that if they were a step too late, Wen En and Romeo’s lives would be lost.
However, the GPS location was moving faster than they had imagined. It eventually passed through the lower district and ended up in the sea outside the city.
This was not good. Anyone who had seen a movie knew that this situation was likely to be grim.
Della and her group could only pray in their hearts that Wen En and Romeo had merely fallen into the water and were still struggling to survive on the surface, and not, as in the movies, with their heads and limbs wrapped in plastic bags, placed in different suitcases, and drifting to different corners of Capital Star with the ocean currents and hurricanes.
RV was trying to borrow a sea-faring aircraft from the lower district’s Interstellar Police Department to search for them.
However, things did not go as smoothly as they had expected. The lower district’s Interstellar Police Department’s emergency rescue request was quickly approved, but the sea-faring aircraft was broken. The reason given by the lower district was also “sufficient”: their financial income was not comparable to the main city’s, so naturally, they didn’t have much money to repair the aircraft. Thus, the lower district had to urgently dispatch a few craftsmen to repair it.
The problem was, the craftsmen said it would take at least three days to repair the aircraft.
In three days, Wen En and Romeo would be bloated from soaking in the sea.
RV had no choice but to call headquarters and request an amphibious aircraft. This was a more advanced piece of equipment than the sea-faring aircraft.
F.I.A.D.’s efficiency was much faster. In less than three hours, F.I.A.D. had sent staff over with the aircraft.
“Great!”
The moment they saw the aircraft, everyone applauded and cheered. They had to find Wen En and Romeo before their bodies were devoured by anaerobic bacteria, or other microorganisms, fish, and barnacles, and bring them back to land.
After two days and two nights of searching with the aircraft, they finally found a floating, foul-smelling black suitcase on the sea.
When they saw the suitcase, RV, Della, and Claire all fell silent.
It was just as they had imagined, the worst-case scenario. Wen En and Romeo were already…
Today, the sky over the sea was very bright, with not a cloud in sight. The azure sky and the sapphire sea merged into a beautiful, hazy, and poetic oil painting.
But everyone’s mood was so heavy.
Della was a rookie. This was her first mission, and her teammates had just left like this. She knew that in this line of work, the probability of accidents was very high, but when she experienced it herself, she felt that it was too cruel for a living person to lose their life just like that, and in the end, become just a piece of data in an electronic report.
And RV, who had experienced such tragedies countless times, still felt his heart ache as if it were being cut by a knife. He mourned the loss of two young lives.
As for Claire, she frowned and stared at the suitcase. After a long while, she said with confusion:
“Is this suitcase that big? Can it really fit the bodies of two adult men?”
Hearing her words, RV and Della looked up at her.
Claire suddenly gasped and said in shock, “They weren’t chopped up and stuffed into the suitcase, were they?!”
That image was beyond RV’s understanding of cruelty. RV clutched his chest. The experiences from his time in the demolition army flashed before his eyes like a revolving lantern, almost making him unable to breathe.
“If that’s the case, it’s too cruel,” Della shook her head and said.
“There’s a gamma-ray detection scanner on the aircraft. Let’s put the suitcase on the scanner first and see what’s inside.”
This scanner could not only be used for medical purposes, but also to detect whether an object contained radioactive materials, dangerous flammable and explosive substances, or deadly bacteria and viruses. To be on the safe side, they had to wait for the scanner to confirm that the suitcase posed no threat to the health and safety of everyone present before they could open it.
The others agreed with this idea, so RV moved the suitcase onto the scanner. Before he pressed the start button, his gaze fell on a few holes on the suitcase.
Were those… bullet holes?
RV didn’t think much of it. It didn’t seem strange for bullet holes to appear here.
He pressed the start button of the scanner.
The scanner started. The machine first emitted a green light, giving the suitcase a comprehensive and detailed examination, then it emitted a blue light, repeating the process of the green light.
The scanned 2D image was quickly generated on the display, but the image was beyond everyone’s expectations.
Della’s face was grim. He clicked on the 6D color image icon on the display, and the scanned 2D image was immediately converted into a 6D color image.
A complete adult skeleton, folded and curled up in the suitcase. The image showed that the skeleton’s head and limbs had varying degrees of fractures, and there were also traces of several bullets in the waist and abdomen.
Claire was stunned. Although she had not walked the straight and narrow path before, she had never seen anything so cruel. She murmured, “Is this Romeo or Wen En?”
“I don’t know,” Della said, taking out a large syringe from a drawer. The needle of the syringe was as long as an arm.
“We’ll know after I extract the tissue fluid and test it.”
With that, she aimed for the center of the suitcase and plunged the needle in without hesitation. The needle was quite thick, comparable to a stainless steel skewer for barbecue. So when the needle went in, the suitcase burst, and a dark brown liquid with a doubly foul smell spurted out.
“Gag, gag, gag…” Claire couldn’t take it anymore. She felt like a hundred zombie rats were crawling on her face. She covered her mouth and ran to the toilet.
Della gagged twice. She had almost thrown up just now. Fortunately, the aircraft’s fresh air system sensed the stench and activated the sterilization and filtration mode, which reduced the smell and allowed Della to successfully extract a tube of tissue fluid and put it into the testing machine.
The test results came out quickly. The display showed that the DNA test results belonged to an unexpected person.
Charles Brown.
“Phew~”
Seeing that the dead person was not Wen En or Romeo, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. The tense atmosphere was immediately relieved.
Until Claire, who had just crawled out of the toilet, said something that made everyone’s heart jump into their throats.
Claire said, “But just because Charles is dead doesn’t mean Wen En and Romeo are still alive.”
“Hey.”
“Wake up.”
“Are you awake?”
Something seemed to be calling out in Wen En’s ear.
Wen En wanted to open his eyes, but his head felt as heavy as if it were filled with lead, and his eyes were so dry they felt like they had been drained of water. He couldn’t open them at all.
His muscles were sore and aching. Wen En was in a daze. He wanted to stretch, but he found that he couldn’t move. He seemed to be bound by something.
“He’s awake,” a voice said.
“Make him more awake,” another voice said.
What?
Before Wen En could react, a stream of cold liquid was splashed on his face.
Wen En shuddered. He subconsciously took a deep breath, and the cold water rushed into his nose and throat.
This completely woke Wen En up. He opened his eyes and at the same time, opened his mouth and coughed loudly. His chest heaved violently, his muscles tensed, and he coughed out all the water from his nose and throat.
“Cough, cough, cough…”
“Hey, wake up,” his face was slapped twice, hard.
Wen En slowly raised his eyelids. The scene before him gradually came into focus. He saw Peter standing in front of him.
Peter was wearing a satin dark blue suit. He even had a lace tie on his chest, making it look like he was inviting Wen En to a university graduation ball.
Wen En’s eyes darted around, surveying his surroundings.
He was in a damp, dark, and claustrophobic space. He was tied to a chair, his legs also bound by chains.
This place was like a prison. A small square hole was dug in the wall, and the opening was sealed with black metal bars.
On his left and right stood two Alpha men. The two Alphas looked very similar, with thick hair and a unibrow.
The two Alphas exuded a strong pheromone scent, mixed with the damp, musty smell. Wen En only felt his head ache even more.
Wen En glanced at the dark blue suit Peter was wearing. It didn’t match the environment at all.
“Who are you?” Peter said.
At this moment, Wen En’s disguise had long been torn off. In front of Peter was Wen En’s real face.
The defined face with Eastern blood.
“Ethan,” Wen En slowly replied.
“Your real name?”
“Yes, my real name.”
Peter didn’t believe him. He had his men check Ethan’s information on the dark web, but they found nothing.
An ordinary person could not possibly erase their personal information so cleanly.
Peter already had a faint idea, and although he appeared to be at ease on the surface, his head was aching from it.
He had anticipated that this would happen. But Peter had underestimated the people behind this Ethan. Peter had never imagined that their actions would be so fast.
“Do you know why you’re here?” Peter said.
Hearing this, Wen En smiled. “I give up on knowing.”
“Vulcan,” Wen En uttered the name.
“Very perceptive,” Peter looked at him with admiration.
Then, Peter’s tone changed. “My next question is, where did you put the real Vulcan?”
“I don’t know,” Wen En said.
“You know,” Peter said.
“Alright,” Wen En said. “Come closer, and I’ll tell you quietly.”
Wen En glanced at the two Alphas standing on either side of him and said, “I’m afraid they’ll overhear and steal Vulcan. They don’t look like trustworthy people.”
Hearing his words, the two Alphas gritted their teeth in anger. They had followed Peter for so many years, through thick and thin. Their loyalty to Peter was not for an outsider like Wen En to judge.
“I can’t agree with your opinion of my men,” Peter said. “But I respect your thoughts. If you don’t want to tell them, then you can tell me everything you know in secret.”
“That would be for the best,” Wen En said.
Then there was a moment of silence.
Wen En was tied up, so naturally, he couldn’t move. Peter didn’t move either. Perhaps he didn’t trust Wen En at all. He knew Wen En wouldn’t be so obedient.
“Come on, tell me your secret,” Wen En smiled.
Perhaps the effects of the anesthetic smoke had not completely worn off. Wen En looked a little drunk, which made him seem less threatening.
Peter stared at Wen En. After a moment, he finally lowered his head.
Just as his face was about to get close to Wen En’s chin.
“Bang!”
A strong, hard force, like a sledgehammer, hit Peter’s chin. Instantly, a metallic taste of snow filled Peter’s mouth, followed by a sharp pain, the kind of pain of having a wisdom tooth extracted without anesthesia.
Peter let out an involuntary cry and staggered back several steps, clutching his chin. His tongue moved, and he found with despair that several of his teeth were loose.
Wen En sneered. Just now, he had used his forehead to give Peter’s chin a friendly touch.
“Boss!”
The Alpha next to Wen En shouted.
“Hit him,” Peter said through his other, not-loose teeth, his voice filled with malice. “Hit him hard, but don’t kill him. I want him to live in conscious pain.”
