Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

The Overworked Beta and the Paranoid Alpha 43

Chapter 43: Symphony

It was an accident.

Wen En had never expected that Red Devil’s subordinate would suddenly turn against him and shoot at Red Devil. This brief and dramatic scene had actually given Wen En an opportunity.

Even so, Wen En did not consider the turncoat subordinate as one of his own. The subordinate hated Red Devil, but that didn’t mean Wen En could be on the same side as him.

Therefore, Wen En still aimed his gun at the subordinate.

The bullet pierced the subordinate’s back and lodged in his heart. The heart and blood vessels burst from the impact of the bullet, and the subordinate quickly lost his life.

Despite this, the subordinate still glared at Red Devil with hatred. His hand tightly gripped the trigger, and the bullets flew around like headless flies, finally hitting the throats, chests, and foreheads of the remaining subordinates.

Only Red Devil escaped. The bullet grazed his right ear. He lost his ear and had a neck full of blood, but fortunately, it was not a fatal wound. A bullet-shattered ear was much better than a bullet-shattered windpipe.

But, damn it, it really hurt! Red Devil clutched his ear, blood flowing from between his fingers. Fortunately, Red Devil had fought in the underground boxing ring for many years and had excellent endurance, so he didn’t scream.

Hatred still reddened his eyes. He absolutely could not die here, but those damn rats couldn’t leave alive either.

Red Devil’s subordinates were almost all dead, but their guns were still there.

Their eyes stared blankly at the sky like goldfish. Their stiff hands still held the guns tightly.

If they could get those guns, then Wen En’s side would basically have an overwhelming victory.

Wen En looked up in Red Devil’s direction. Red Devil had the same idea, his eyes fixed on the guns. Until he noticed Wen En’s gaze, and their eyes briefly met.

The next moment, they both rushed out and started fighting.

Red Devil was tougher to deal with than Wen En had imagined.

Besides the fact that Red Devil was indeed a well-trained fighter, the more important reason was that after a long period of mental and physical torture and hunger, Wen En’s condition was far from what it used to be.

And Red Devil was energetic, strong, well-trained, and had even eaten a kilogram of sirloin steak and half a basket of buttered toast before setting out.

He punched Wen En in the collarbone. Wen En could even hear the sound of bone breaking echoing in his body.

Wen En took a few steps back. A stream of bright red blood flowed from under his tall, well-shaped nose. Despite this, he still looked at Red Devil fearlessly and raised his fists in a fighting stance.

Red Devil sneered, “I really don’t understand what you’re still insisting on. Is it worth it for two useless people?”

Red Devil said, “If I were you, I would take a gun and kill those two followers, so they wouldn’t hold me back.”

The moment he finished speaking, Wen En’s leg flew over like a hurricane. Red Devil subconsciously raised his arm to block, but he was still pushed back two steps by the extreme force.

“But I’m not you.”

Wen En just threw out this sentence and punched Red Devil in the face. Red Devil, as if looking at an angry, childish child, easily dodged the attack.

But to his surprise, the first attack was just a feint. Just as Red Devil was about to mock Wen En again, a strong force suddenly struck his chin from below.

“Bang!”

Red Devil took a few steps back, his head still in the position it had been knocked to. He opened his mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood mixed with saliva and broken teeth.

Wen En couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words with him. He rushed over, turned his leg sideways, and his boot powerfully stomped on Red Devil’s knee joint.

Red Devil let out a muffled grunt, his features contorting. The injured knee uncontrollably knelt on the ground, and his other leg tightly supported his body so he wouldn’t fall.

Taking advantage of Red Devil’s temporary distraction due to the pain, Wen En seized the opportunity, grabbed Red Devil’s hair, raised his knee, and slammed it into Red Devil’s face.

But Red Devil, ignoring the pain, let out a strange laugh.

“You’ve fallen into my trap,” Red Devil said.

Red Devil suddenly grabbed Wen En’s clothes, lifted him over his head, and then let go. Wen En’s back hit the ground, and he slammed heavily onto the floor.

“Ugh!”

Wen En was in so much pain that he saw stars and couldn’t breathe.

In a daze, he saw Red Devil’s blurry figure. Wen En narrowed his eyes and finally focused his vision. He saw Red Devil’s expressionless face, his chin covered in blood. He had his fist raised above his head. As long as the fist fell, it would hit Wen En’s face.

Wen En’s pupils trembled. An animalistic alertness stimulated his whole body.

Just as he was about to struggle, Red Devil’s hand suddenly stopped, and his gaze shifted to a distance.

A gunshot rang out, followed by three more in quick succession. A few drops of warm, rusty-smelling blood dripped onto Wen En’s face. Red Devil clutched his other ear, jumped up from in front of Wen En, and dodged to the side.

Wen En quickly got up from the ground. He endured the headache and looked closely. Not far behind him, Romeo was holding a gun, pointing it in the direction Red Devil had fled.

“Damn it, he got away.”

Romeo’s face was pale, like a white chrysanthemum swaying in the sea breeze, but his foul language was not like that of a pure white flower.

He glared at Red Devil’s side with a sinister look, always on guard against another sneak attack from Red Devil.

“Romeo!”

Wen En ran over, enduring the severe pain in his back.

“Are you okay?” Romeo finally shifted his gaze to Wen En. “I’m sorry,” his expression was remorseful and sad. “I should have shot him earlier.”

Just now, when Wen En and Red Devil were fighting, Romeo had taken the opportunity to pick up the gun on the ground. But he hadn’t expected that one of Red Devil’s subordinates, who was lying on the ground, was not completely dead. He had suddenly grabbed Romeo, trying to buy time.

So Romeo had to fire the first shot at the annoying subordinate.

And at that moment, Red Devil’s gaze turned to him.

Romeo didn’t hesitate to think. He fired three shots at Red Devil. Unfortunately, Red Devil had already come up with a countermeasure. Although Romeo’s bullets still injured him, they were all insignificant, non-fatal wounds.

Red Devil had temporarily escaped.

“How many bullets are left?” Wen En asked.

“None,” Romeo said, a little dejected. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine,” Wen En said.

These were all small matters. Wen En didn’t care. His focus was more on how to defeat Red Devil.

Wen En picked up the other scattered guns on the ground, took out the remaining bullets, and loaded them into the gun in his hand. He put some of the remaining ones in his pocket as a supplement.

He used the same method to load the other gun and gave it to Romeo.

“You cover me later. I’ll kill Red Devil,” Wen En patted Romeo’s shoulder, signaling him not to be discouraged.

“Yes, sir,” Romeo nodded. Wen En’s attitude comforted him a lot.

And on the other side.

Red Devil clutched his other ear, which had been blown to a bloody pulp, and stared at the two bugs who were acting very intimately.

“Damn it!” Red Devil cursed under his breath.

The bullet had blown up his ear and also ruptured his eardrum. Now his hearing was almost gone. Pain and severe tinnitus were intertwined, playing a complex symphony in his head.

But this time, he couldn’t get angry. The moment Romeo raised his gun, he knew that he had lost eighty percent of his advantage.

But Red Devil was not a person who gave up easily. In the fighting ring, it was not impossible for the underdog to turn the tables. Therefore, even if there was only a one percent chance of turning the tables, Red Devil had to fight for it.

But where was Red Devil’s breakthrough point?

Suddenly, a faint, sweet smell of Omega pheromones caught Red Devil’s attention. It was the smell of an Omega in heat. Red Devil was all too familiar with this smell.

This smell was like adrenaline. Just a little bit, through Red Devil’s breath, could spread throughout his body, making his blood boil like boiling water, and even making him erect.

But he still suppressed that desire.

He turned his gaze back to Wen En’s side. He saw the Omega in the cleaner’s uniform run out from a hidden corner, say something to Wen En in a low voice, and then the three of them left together.

An idea came to Red Devil’s mind.

A chapter unlocks every Monday and Thursday .
Wen En, the number one special agent in the galaxy, is a Beta. With his handsome and elegant mixed-race features and a tall, powerful physique, he was prime material for hard labor. Until one day, he gave up his vacation to accept a mission from his superior. The mission required him to team up with an Alpha named Romeo Solstice. Wen En agreed. But his Alpha teammate had other ideas. Romeo: Did you know that "teammate" is just another word for "wife"? Wen En (expressionless): No, and I don't want to know. Romeo: Darling, I must have a long talk with you all night to explain the details. At that, Wen En raised his rock-hard fist: Say one more noisy word and see what happens??? Romeo (clutching his face and wailing): I give, I give up!!!! Wen En: A cold smile. Romeo: But, darling, I think I've fallen in love with you... Wen En: ...???
Romeo Solstice, like all villains in film and television, had a tragic childhood. Unloved by his fathers, he engaged in wrongdoing, and his infamy spread far and wide. He had a "white moonlight," also a Beta, who was gentle and considerate, bestowing the radiance of love upon his younger self. Therefore, looking at this rock-hard Beta named Wen En before him, Romeo felt displeasure in his heart and disdain on his face. He thought: A person like you can be considered a Beta? Who would have thought that one day, he would develop a high fever due to his rut, and in a daze, he would see Wen En's face overlapping with that of his "white moonlight." He thought dazedly: Back then, that person... it was you... He caressed Wen En's face and gently leaned in for a kiss. And then he was sent flying by a punch. Wen En (landing a punch): Would you please sober up!!! Romeo: ...So painful. But why did that punch make his heart race...?
