Chapter 26 Part 2
Shi Xu was unmoved, as if he was being unreasonable.
He was being unreasonable.
If his earlier dejection was feigned, now it was genuine. Tears welled up in his eyes. “Baby, your little dad is so mean. He ate my food, but doesn’t want to take responsibility.”
Shi Xu looked up, his tone indifferent. “I paid for the groceries, the utilities. I’ve been more than responsible.”
“…” Gu Sui buried his face in the egg, mumbling, “Baby, your little dad touched me, but he doesn’t want to take responsibility. He’s such a scumbag!”
Shi Xu scoffed. “I haven’t touched you nearly as much as you’ve touched me. Should I chop off my hand for every time I touched you?”
“…” Gu Sui shuddered, covering the egg’s non-existent ears. “Baby, don’t listen to this. Good babies shouldn’t hear such things!”
Shi Xu continued calmly, “Good dads also don’t say such nonsense to their children. What, are you trying to gain status through your child?”
“Can’t I? I like you! I want to be with you!” Gu Sui blinked, tears rolling down his cheeks.
The book lay open on Shi Xu’s lap, the page unchanged since he picked it up.
If Gu Sui had noticed, he would have realized Shi Xu wasn’t actually reading.
“Do you know what you look like?”
Gu Sui: “What?”
Shi Xu: “A scoundrel.”
Gu Sui understood the meaning, unfazed. He held the egg close, sitting beside the sofa, looking up at Shi Xu innocently. “Can I be with you if I’m a scoundrel?”
Shi Xu chuckled. “You’d become anything just to be with me?”
His eyes crinkled with amusement, the corners lifting, captivating Gu Sui.
Gu Sui nodded without hesitation. Shi Xu continued, “But I don’t like ugly things. I’m only with you for your looks. If you lose your human form and revert back, I’ll leave you.”
His words were harsh, but honest. Currently, he was only attracted to the pollutant’s appearance, and perhaps its cooking.
A normal person would have retreated, but not the pollutant.
Shi Xu didn’t think he had said anything encouraging, but Gu Sui’s eyes lit up. “You… admit… you like… my body… right?”
Shi Xu: “…”
Gu Sui grew more excited. “As long as… I stay… human… you’ll… stay… with me… right?”
“…” Shi Xu, “I didn’t say that.”
Gu Sui patted the egg, complaining, “Baby, your little dad is a liar. He just said he likes my body, now he says he didn’t. Don’t learn from him, you’ll become a bad baby with a long nose.”
Shi Xu: “…”
He rubbed his temples, watching Gu Sui’s performance. Gu Sui continued murmuring to the egg, occasionally glancing at Shi Xu with pitiful eyes, his unspoken plea evident—
Why aren’t you comforting me? Are you really this heartless?
Having enjoyed the show, Shi Xu closed the unread book. “Being with me will bring you a lot of trouble.”
Gu Sui looked up, his voice cracking with excitement. “You’ll… take responsibility… for me!”
Shi Xu: “…”
Was that the point?
Shi Xu frowned. Gu Sui immediately cowered, carefully observing him, returning to the topic. “What… trouble?”
Shi Xu: “We’re different species. I can accept you, but my father won’t.”
“I… will… try… to please… your father! Make him… agree!”
Shi Xu easily crushed his resolve. “I don’t need you to please him.”
Gu Sui looked confused. “Then… what do I do… to make him… agree?”
“I don’t need his approval.” Shi Xu leaned closer, cupping Gu Sui’s chin. “And you don’t need to please him. I want him to hate you.”
Despite learning about human emotions, the pollutant didn’t understand them. Even though he knew their importance to humans, he didn’t ask about Shi Xu’s relationship with his father or the reason for his request.
He only cared about Shi Xu’s happiness.
Gu Sui: “Will… this… make you… happy?”
Shi Xu: “It will.”
Gu Sui smiled. “Okay, I… will… make you… happy.”
Shi Xu released Gu Sui’s chin, his voice lowering. “No matter how hard you try, as long as you’re a pollutant, he’ll hate you. He’ll try to harm you, to kill you. Are you afraid?”
Gu Sui showed no fear. “No.”
Shi Xu: “Good. As long as you’re not afraid, I’ll take responsibility for you.”
Gu Sui released the egg, kneeling on the hard floor, the pain insignificant compared to his joy.
Even kneeling, his head was almost level with Shi Xu’s. Their eyes met, his excitement evident in his fervent gaze.
“Are… we… together now? You’re… finally… my wife?”
Shi Xu stared at him, a mischievous smile curving his lips. “Just so you know, there are no feelings involved. I’m only using you. I like your looks, that’s why I chose you.”
Gu Sui repeated his question, as if he hadn’t heard.
Shi Xu didn’t answer directly, but his eyes softened.
“You’re finally my wife. I… will… protect you. Won’t let… anyone… bully you. I… will… make you… happy!” His golden eyes shone brighter than the sun, his clear voice slightly hoarse, each word resonating within Shi Xu.
A gentle poke on his hand brought Shi Xu back to reality. Gu Sui’s face was flushed, his eyes shining with a shy anticipation.
“Wife, shouldn’t… we… have a… ceremony… now that… we’re together?”
Shi Xu: “What do you mean?”
Gu Sui pouted slightly, embarrassed. “I… want… a kiss.”
Shi Xu stared at his red lips, falling silent.
Gu Sui quickly added, “I… don’t want… to sexually harass… Wife! Now that… we’re together… it’s not… sexual harassment… right?”
It wasn’t.
But Shi Xu didn’t want to kiss a pollutant.
Holding hands, hugging, he could accept. But kissing a pollutant, their tongues entwined, its saliva entering his mouth…
The thought was repulsive.
He wouldn’t hide his true feelings, unable to understand why he was so comfortable being himself around this pollutant.
With others, he carefully chose his words. With the pollutant, he spoke his mind. “Kissing you would disgust me.”
The light in Gu Sui’s eyes dimmed. He retreated to a safe distance, his voice dejected. “If… Wife… doesn’t like… then… no kiss…” But his gaze remained fixed on Shi Xu’s lips, his desire evident.
Shi Xu relented slightly, asking a rhetorical question. “I called you disgusting. Aren’t you angry?”
As expected, Gu Sui answered instantly, without hesitation. “I… would never… be angry… at Wife.” He didn’t dare say that despite Shi Xu’s words, he didn’t sense any real disgust.
Shi Xu wasn’t truly repulsed. He was just being difficult.
Gu Sui’s answer made Shi Xu smile. He beckoned Gu Sui with his finger, like calling a dog.
Gu Sui willingly obeyed, leaning closer, licking his lips, his desire evident.
Wife’s fingers smell so good. Could he lick them?
He would clean them afterwards. Would Wife allow it?
He only dared to imagine the taste, afraid to ask, expecting rejection.
Shi Xu surprised him.
A shadow fell over him. Before he could react, something warm and soft touched his forehead, then quickly retreated.
Gu Sui’s eyes widened, staring at Shi Xu’s retreating face, slowly processing what happened.
Shi Xu had kissed him. And he initiated it.
Even though it wasn’t on the lips, it filled him with joy.
Gu Sui: “Wife… you… kissed me!”
Shi Xu hummed in acknowledgement.
Gu Sui repeated, “Wife… you… kissed me!”
Shi Xu didn’t respond.
Gu Sui asked, “Why… did Wife… kiss me?”
Shi Xu looked up. “You didn’t like it?”
“I loved it!”
“A reward for being obedient.” Shi Xu caressed Gu Sui’s flushed cheek, his smile seductive. “Come home with me tomorrow. If you behave, there will be more rewards.”
Gu Sui, dazed by the touch, nuzzled Shi Xu’s hand. “Okay, I… listen… to Wife.”
