Chapter 40 Part 1
Before Shi Xu went to shower, Gu Sui wasn’t in his room. Afterwards, Gu Sui sat on his bed, looking at him with an innocent expression, his true intentions, however, clearly conveyed through his eyes.
Shi Xu: “Something you need?”
Gu Sui opened his arms. “Wife, come here. I’ll… dry… your hair.”
Knowing that being close to Gu Sui meant inevitable physical contact, Shi Xu still approached him. Before he could get close enough, he was pulled into Gu Sui’s embrace, the towel snatched from his hand. Gu Sui held him from behind, drying his hair.
Initially, he was well-behaved, but his touch became increasingly suggestive, Shi Xu’s face growing warmer, Gu Sui’s hot breath on his cheek.
Just as Gu Sui’s lips were about to touch his cheek, Shi Xu “accidentally” nudged him with his elbow, eliciting a sharp intake of breath.
He turned around, feigning surprise. “Did I hurt you? Sorry.”
Gu Sui dropped the pretense, pushing Shi Xu onto the bed. “I… want… to kiss you.”
Calling him a kiss-obsessed maniac wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
Shi Xu tried to knee him, but Gu Sui pinned his legs down. He hadn’t realized Gu Sui had snuck into his room. Having just showered, he was only wearing a towel, which had come loose during his struggle. One more movement, and it would fall off completely.
Gu Sui noticed, his breathing growing ragged, his gaze fixed on Shi Xu’s exposed skin. He didn’t reach for the towel, waiting for it to fall, or better yet, for Shi Xu to remove it himself.
A sharp pinch on his cheek brought him back to reality. He didn’t feel the pain, but his instincts, honed by Shi Xu’s training, made him cry out, his attention diverted.
“Wife, that… hurts…”
Shi Xu, ignoring him, pushed him off the bed.
As he stood up, Gu Sui grabbed his wrist, his voice plaintive. “Where… are you… going? Not… dry… yet…”
Shi Xu: “I’m dry.”
His hair wasn’t dripping anymore. That was dry enough for him.
Gu Sui clung to him, whispering in his ear, “Hair… is dry… Body… not dry…”
Two fingers touched his right shoulder, Gu Sui’s fingertip tracing his skin, then holding the damp finger before his eyes.
“See? Still… wet…”
Shi Xu didn’t speak, his waist encircled by Gu Sui’s arm, his body pressed against Gu Sui’s chest, his ear brushing against Gu Sui’s lips, the heat making him shiver. The tingling sensation spread throughout his body, weakening him.
“Wife, after… kissing you… yesterday… I grew… a new tentacle… Bigger… than before… Want to… see?”
Shi Xu shivered again, his eyes lowered, his long lashes hiding his expression, Gu Sui’s seductive voice echoing in his ears.
“You… still don’t know… how to change… diapers, right? I… learned! I… teach you… okay?”
Strangely, even though Gu Sui’s lips hadn’t touched his ear, it felt hot.
His breathing grew ragged, mirroring Gu Sui’s. “How… will you… teach me?”
Gu Sui’s fingers traced his abs, moving downwards. “You’re not… wearing anything… underneath… right?”
Shi Xu swallowed, humming in agreement.
Gu Sui chuckled. Under Shi Xu’s annoyed glare, he said softly, “I… help… Wife… dress…”
He leaned closer to Shi Xu’s ear. “Before that… I have to… dry… Wife…”
Shi Xu relaxed, his silence and unresisting body a clear answer.
He couldn’t tolerate the bright lights. A tentacle reached out, turning off the lights, plunging the room into darkness.
Despite the winter solstice, the room grew warmer, Shi Xu’s body slick with sweat.
Gu Sui kept his promise, meticulously licking him dry, but…
“So much…” Gu Sui’s insatiable tongue explored his skin, his unfiltered thoughts voiced aloud, shameless and unrestrained.
His words weren’t embarrassing, but the effect on Shi Xu was overwhelming, making him tremble.
The golden tentacle around his waist tightened, mimicking Gu Sui’s lips, wiping away the sweat.
“It seems… this will… take a while…” Gu Sui’s fingers ran through his damp hair, massaging his scalp, his hand moving to the back of his neck, tilting his head up, their lips meeting.
“Take your time… Wife… Don’t worry… I’ll… clean you…”
But as long as he wanted, Shi Xu would never be truly clean.
Shi Xu slept until late morning, awakened by Gu Sui.
He had spent the entire night in Gu Sui’s embrace, still held captive upon waking.
So clingy, wanting to merge with him. Pollutants were truly terrifying.
This thought crossed his mind as he opened his eyes.
A cold object pressed against his lips. He realized it was a glass of water.
“You must be thirsty after sweating all night…”
Shi Xu punched his stomach. Gu Sui chuckled, his hand steady, not spilling a drop.
After his teasing remark, he coaxed the annoyed Shi Xu, “Wife, drink… Your lips… are chapped… I’m… worried…”
“If you were truly worried, you wouldn’t have kept me up all night,” Shi Xu’s voice was hoarse.
Gu Sui’s voice softened with concern. “I… was… but… Wife… so sweet… I… couldn’t… control…”
“Shut up,” Shi Xu frowned, cutting him off.
He drank half the water, the burning in his throat subsiding slightly, but still uncomfortable.
Despite his efforts to suppress them, the sounds of his pleasure had been unrestrained.
Being with Gu Sui made him aware of his vulnerabilities.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t eliminate Gu Sui, couldn’t erase his weaknesses.
Gu Sui’s quiet didn’t last long. He started chattering again, even more talkative than Qi Yu, but unlike Qi Yu, who discussed serious matters, Gu Sui only talked about Shi Xu, mostly expressing his affection.
“Wife, like you… like you… like you so much~”
“Wife, you’re… so amazing… After… being with you… I regained… some power… I grew… one tentacle… last night… and two… this morning…” He covered his face, his voice shy. “And they’re… thicker… Wife will… definitely like… N-Next time… Wife can… play… I’ll… wash them… and prepare…”
“…”
Shi Xu handed him the empty glass. “I’m hungry. Go cook.”
Gu Sui: “I… already cooked… I came… to wake you… for breakfast…”
Shi Xu: “Then let’s eat.”
The embarrassing topic finally ended, but a new problem arose.
After a night of exertion, his strength hadn’t fully returned. His legs and back ached as he got out of bed.
Gu Sui quickly steadied him. “Wife, be… careful… I’ll… help…”
Whose fault was this?!
Shi Xu glared at him, pushing his hand away, going to the bathroom alone. Gu Sui followed, watching him expectantly.
He still refused Gu Sui’s help going downstairs. Seeing the little black cat and Sui Sui, he felt a surge of affection, petting the cat and playing with Sui Sui for a while, even holding the baby during breakfast.
Gu Sui remained by his side, his eyes red with jealousy as he watched Shi Xu cuddle Sui Sui, remaining silent until Shi Xu finished eating. “Wife, are… you… tired? Let… me… hold him…”
“No.” Shi Xu stood up, holding Sui Sui. “Wash the dishes. I’ll watch the baby.”
Gu Sui: “…”
Sui Sui, perched on Shi Xu’s shoulder, smirked at Gu Sui, then, under his angry glare, nuzzled Shi Xu’s neck, its voice childish. “I… like… little dad… Does little dad… like Sui Sui?”
Shi Xu, surprised, “You can talk?”
His speech was still slightly slurred, but understandable.
He turned to Gu Sui. “This is what you call ‘rapid growth’?”
Gu Sui immediately smiled, rushing to his side, explaining, “Incubation… takes time… But after… hatching… they grow… much faster… than humans…”
Shi Xu bounced the baby slightly. “But he hasn’t grown taller or heavier.”
Sui Sui, enjoying the movement, giggled, clinging to Shi Xu’s neck. “Like… little dad~”
Gu Sui, feeling a pang of jealousy, wanted to stuff Sui Sui back into the eggshell, mumbling, “Not… all aspects… grow… equally… His language… develops… faster…”
“I see.” Shi Xu poked Sui Sui’s chubby cheek, smiling. “That’s good.”
He secretly hoped Sui Sui would remain a baby for a while longer. He was comfortable with babies, but not with a grown-up egg.
If Sui Sui had appeared as an adult, he wouldn’t have adapted so quickly, wouldn’t have accepted him so readily.
“What’s good about it?!” Gu Sui’s voice was filled with jealousy. “Considering his egg age, he’s older than you!”
Shi Xu: “You’re not much younger than him, are you?”
Gu Sui: “…”
Shi Xu smiled. “You’re old enough to be my grandfather.”
“…” Gu Sui turned away, muttering, “I have to… listen to Wife… I have to… wash dishes… If I listen… Wife will be… happy… and talk to me… If Wife is happy… maybe… reward…”
Shi Xu’s eyes twinkled with amusement. Sui Sui, looking at Shi Xu, then at Gu Sui’s back, seemed to understand.
That look… was love.
After the Jinzhu Bay incident, the vacant houses were quickly occupied, the area regaining its vibrancy.
With its prime location and desirable surroundings, the residents who had fled, fearing pollutants, returned after the area was declared safe.
Within days, five new security guards were hired. Shi Xu had new colleagues, although he already knew them.
They were all espers, retired due to psychological trauma from the wars seven years and four months ago. Two of them were even his seniors. Hearing of his new job and its generous benefits, they applied and were quickly hired.
Although the pollutants were eliminated, there was no guarantee of future safety. The residents, wanting reliable security like Shi Xu, demanded esper guards.
Surprisingly, these espers, giving up better jobs, chose to work as security guards. They easily filled the five positions.
The wealthy residents of Jinzhu Bay weren’t stingy, maintaining Shi Xu’s high salary, and offering competitive wages to the new recruits, knowing that retaining talent required generous compensation.
Jinzhu Bay was now the safest residential area in City S.
The recent incidents had attracted attention. Many knew Shi Xu was working there. He was no longer captain, but his fans remained devoted.
He had to take detours to avoid them, eventually being assigned to the security post furthest inside the complex, minimizing contact.
Aaaaaand there goes his ‘ordinary’ life 🤣🤣🤣
