Chapter 192
Xing Nuo, a suspicion forming in his mind, looked at the clown monster dancing and singing around him.
The clown seemed to enjoy performing, its movements, although grotesque and unsettling, strangely captivating.
Xing Nuo spoke, his voice calm and steady:
“It’s Guild Zero One.”
The clown froze mid-leap, its painted smile cracking, and after a moment of stunned silence, it turned its head sharply.
“You’re lying!”
Xing Nuo shook his head, taking a step back, maintaining his composure.
“Why would I lie? You’re a high-level monster. You should know how crazy that guild is.”
“And think about it. Weren’t those two high-level monsters still alive before that guild appeared? And as the guild grew stronger, more and more monsters died, didn’t they?”
Xing Nuo’s voice was calm and measured as he laid out his theory, the result of almost a year of careful observation and deduction.
“That guild is strange. They’re not just hostile towards monsters. I heard they’ve massacred entire dungeons, killing both humans and monsters.”
“What’s their motive? Why kill humans and monsters?”
The clown monster, its mind sharp and twisted, its smile widening, turning into a grotesque grimace, said:
“They’re collecting energy.”
Both monsters and humans, according to Lu Qi, were sources of energy.
Humans, although physically weak, possessed high intelligence!
And their potential for energy was limitless.
So, the most likely explanation was that Guild Zero One, having killed both monsters and humans, was collecting energy!
Especially from humans!
Xing Nuo, in that moment, suddenly understood why the barrier between the two worlds was weakening.
Guild Zero One must be involved!
They must have realized that killing monsters in the horror world was inefficient, the players having props to protect themselves, the energy gain too slow.
So, they had only one option: to break the barrier and let the dungeons invade the real world!
The dungeons would pull in countless ordinary humans, weak and defenseless, easy prey.
It was a much faster way to collect energy!
An entire dungeon of dead humans, a massive energy boost! Efficient and effortless!
But where was all this energy going?
Xing Nuo suspected there was a system, lurking in the shadows, absorbing it all.
“That guild won’t stop at just two high-level monsters. You’re their next target.”
The clown, already suspecting this after Xing Nuo mentioned Guild Zero One, now understood.
“You humans are truly heartless!”
It laughed, a strange, almost tearful, sound, its painted smile a grotesque mask.
“No wonder my rival said this world will be ruled by humans someday. You’re the most ruthless creatures!”
Monsters, once they gained intelligence, their desire for flesh and blood would lessen.
But some humans could mercilessly slaughter an entire dungeon of their own kind!
Just for energy.
The clown looked up at the gray, overcast sky.
“Energy is a wonderful thing, indeed.”
It chuckled, then, as if needing to unburden itself, started recounting its past.
It didn’t know who it was talking to. Most of the monsters it knew were dead. If it didn’t tell its story now, it would be lost forever.
“I used to be just a clown, dancing and entertaining, no dungeon of my own, just scraping by in other monsters’ dungeons.”
“I don’t know how long it took, but it also feels like just a moment. I ate many monsters, grew stronger, my mind clearer.”
“Intelligence is a dangerous thing. I started questioning my existence. A pointless question, right? I still don’t have an answer.”
“And as I grew stronger, my desire for human flesh and blood faded, and I finally became the high-level monster I always dreamed of being.”
It continued to smile, its laughter echoing around Xing Nuo, but its voice was tinged with a strange sadness.
“We monsters deserve to die. I’ve eaten so many. Someday, I’ll get what’s coming to me. Hahaha!”
Xing Nuo, his ears ringing from the clown’s high-pitched laughter, covered them with his hands.
When he looked up again, the clown was gone.
Xing Nuo gasped, looking around.
“Lu Qi, where did it go?”
Lu Qi, having placed a tracker on the clown, quickly located it.
“I’ll take you there!”
It was going to be a long night.
Xing Nuo had planned to steal some energy and go home, but he had been discovered by the clown.
And now, he was chasing the clown, having followed it to another dungeon.
He entered the dungeon, feeling a wave of intense heat, and Lu Qi quickly erected a protective barrier around him. He hid behind a rock.
In front of him were the clown monster and a group of players.
The players didn’t seem afraid of the high-level clown, their leader, seeing it, even grinning.
Xing Nuo instantly recognized him—
Sang Ming, the leader of Guild Zero One.
Sang Ming, confident and smug, seeing the clown, his eyes gleaming, almost tearing up with excitement, said:
“I was just about to look for you, and you came to me!”
The players surrounded the clown.
But a high-level monster was no match for a few ordinary players. The clown’s laughter echoed through the dungeon as the players collapsed, blood streaming from their eyes, ears, noses, and mouths.
Only Sang Ming remained, facing the clown.
Sang Ming, seemingly unfazed by his teammates’ deaths, just stepped back, a cold smile on his face.
“Good riddance.”
The next moment, Xing Nuo, hiding behind the rock, felt the oppressive weight of Sang Ming’s aura, the immense power he had accumulated from devouring countless humans and two high-level monsters.
Xing Nuo’s heart sank as he watched Sang Ming effortlessly overpower the clown.
“The Clown is going to die,” Lu Qi’s cold, mechanical voice echoed in his mind.
Transparent tentacles, similar to Lu Qi’s, emerged from Sang Ming, pinning the clown while also absorbing its energy.
“Lu Qi, can you scan Sang Ming? See if there’s a system?” Xing Nuo asked mentally.
Lu Qi, unnoticed by the battling monster and human, detected a faint energy fluctuation.
“Found it!”
He paused, his mechanical voice filled with surprise.
“Same energy signature as my chip!”
Xing Nuo gasped. “Systems have siblings?”
Lu Qi explained:
“Chip energy is our core. We don’t have siblings. We have…same batch systems.”
“I was a Cannon Fodder Reversal System…controlled by the main system. Many branches…other types…but this system…same energy as mine.”
Xing Nuo understood. “So, the system in Sang Ming…also a Cannon Fodder Reversal System?”
Lu Qi hummed in agreement. “Yes. One hundred systems in our batch. But after main system destroyed…all systems should have been deactivated.”
Even Lu Qi, having already detached himself from the main system, had almost shut down due to lack of energy.
“Another system from our batch…still active.”
Xing Nuo, watching as the clown’s energy was drained, his heart sinking, asked:
“Sang Ming’s system is too strong. Lu Qi, can you defeat it?”
Lu Qi’s response was immediate and decisive: “No! Three high-level monsters’ energy. I’m no match for it.”
Xing Nuo nodded, then, a sudden realization dawning on him, said:
“We have to go back to the amusement park! Now!”
The battle between the clown and Sang Ming wasn’t over yet,
but the outcome was inevitable, and Xing Nuo, remembering Guild Zero One’s ruthless methods, told Lu Qi to take him back.
In the amusement park.
Many of the Guild Zero One players had entered the amusement park dungeon and were now slaughtering both monsters and humans indiscriminately.
When Xing Nuo arrived, the ground was covered in blood.
A scene of carnage.
The ordinary people, defenseless, were being slaughtered!
Xing Nuo ran, saving a young boy from a player, using Lu Qi’s energy to enhance his strength, kicking the player, knocking him unconscious.
The boy, his face blank with shock, then suddenly picked up a fruit knife and stabbed the player in the chest.
“You killed my mommy!”
Xing Nuo, his heart aching, watched as the massacre continued.
This couldn’t go on.
“Lu Qi, what do we do?”
Lu Qi, pulling Xing Nuo’s hand, directed him towards the power generator.
“That’s the dungeon’s core. If we absorb its energy, the dungeon will close, and everyone will be sent back!”
Xing Nuo ran, dodging the knife-wielding players, the screams of the dying echoing through the park.
The ordinary people, having survived the monsters’ attacks, were now being killed by human players!
Xing Nuo, his heart heavy, couldn’t stop, could only run, past the carnage, towards the power generator.
His legs aching, he almost got caught by a Guild Zero One player,
but Qi Yao, who had been hiding in the dungeon, suddenly appeared and blocked the attack.
Xing Nuo, seeing Qi Yao, whom he hadn’t seen since entering the dungeon, was stunned, and Qi Yao yelled at him:
“What are you waiting for?! Do you want to die?!”
