Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

The Whole Family Are Villains, I’m the Group Pet 210

Chapter 210:

If – Child-Rearing Arc: Previous Life’s Zaizai 3

Having lost the other children from the orphanage, Xing Nuo stared at the man in front of him, his round, cat-like eyes wide and watery.

Shen Wen, his light golden hair framing his delicate features, his pale skin and elegant demeanor, his slightly pursed lips giving him an air of aloofness, exuded an aura of wealth and power.

His clothes were expensive, a discreetly luxurious watch on his wrist, his golden hair shimmering in the sunlight.

But perhaps because of their shared hair color, Xing Nuo, although still crying, his tears blurring his vision, wasn’t afraid.

“Mister, I lost.”

Shen Wen paused, thinking, This kid is quite smart, knowing he’s lost.

“Stopped crying? Tell Uncle your name. I’ll help you find your mommy and daddy.”

Xing Nuo took a deep breath, trying to stop crying, but he still sniffled a few times before finally calming down.

“I…I Xing Nuo. I no have mommy and daddy.”

Shen Wen froze, his hand, which had been reaching for a tissue, stopping mid-air, a complex mix of emotions swirling within him.

He looked down and noticed the large, red heart on Xing Nuo’s small backpack.

And the tag with the orphanage’s name.

His heart ached, looking at the small child, his tears flowing freely.

He gently wiped Xing Nuo’s face, his touch light, his eyes filled with a tender pity.

“Then I’ll take Xing Nuo home, okay?”

Xing Nuo nodded, his earlier panic subsiding, and jumped down from the bench, trying to follow the volunteer, who was walking away.

Shen Wen, seeing his unsteady gait, his small legs waddling, decided not to hold his hand.

They reached the tiger enclosure, and Xing Nuo, not seeing the volunteer with the little red flag, his mouth turning down, was about to cry again.

Shen Wen, flustered, seeing the other people staring at them, their gazes curious and slightly judgmental, quickly picked up Xing Nuo.

“Don’t cry. They’re probably in another enclosure. I’ll take you to the service center. They have a loudspeaker. We can ask for help.”

Xing Nuo nodded, clutching his backpack strap, his voice filled with dejection.

“Zaizai…no more…zoo.”

His legs were too short to see anything, and now he was lost.

Shen Wen, looking at the child’s round, watery eyes, his heart melting, couldn’t help but smile.

“Who did you come with, Xing Nuo? No one looking after you?”

Xing Nuo, looking at him, puzzled, said:

“Volunteer sister. Zaizai can take care of myself.”

He wasn’t a baby who couldn’t even walk. At three years old, he could take care of himself at the orphanage.

He could eat, dress himself, play, and even sit quietly and look at picture books.

Shen Wen, thinking of the other children at the orphanage, all needing care, Xing Nuo just one of many, how could he possibly receive individual attention?

His heart ached, and he ruffled Xing Nuo’s hair, his eyes downcast, lost in thought.

He took Xing Nuo to the service center and explained the situation. The staff immediately made an announcement over the loudspeaker.

Xing Nuo, held securely in Shen Wen’s arms, his eyes wide with anticipation, his small fists clenched, asked:

“Now…volunteer sister come find Zaizai?”

Shen Wen smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners, his gentle expression like a warm spring breeze, melting the ice around his heart.

“Of course. I’ll wait with you. Someone will come get you soon.”

Xing Nuo sighed in relief, nestled in Shen Wen’s arms, his eyes scanning the crowd.

Having cried and walked so much, he felt safe and secure in Shen Wen’s strong embrace.

He started daydreaming.

Zaizai no run away again…

If Zaizai had a daddy…would he be like this kind mister?

Golden hair, strong arms, easily carrying Zaizai.

The thought made him smile, but then, seeing no sign of the volunteer, his smile faltered, his small back slumping against Shen Wen’s chest.

Why no one find Zaizai?

Shen Wen also frowned. After waiting for half an hour, seeing no one, his patience wearing thin,

he put on his sunglasses and stood up.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you back to the orphanage.”

An employee, worried, tried to dissuade him.

“Wait a little longer. Maybe they’ll be here soon.”

Shen Wen didn’t want to wait, but looking down at the little one, his eyes wide and anxious, his heart softened.

“Don’t worry.”

He ruffled Xing Nuo’s hair, his touch gentle despite his large hand, calming Xing Nuo slightly.

“Zaizai not scared.”

Xing Nuo, thinking hard, his eyes suddenly lighting up, said:

“Zaizai take bus back…wait there!”

Shen Wen, thinking this was a good idea, and the staff, also worried about losing a child, accompanied them to the bus.

Seeing the bus parked at the entrance, they both sighed in relief.

“Good. We’ll wait for them here.”

The driver, seeing Xing Nuo being carried back, asked, puzzled:

“Is it over already?”

Shen Wen, his eyes hidden behind his sunglasses, his voice cold, said:

“You didn’t even notice he was missing? How incompetent.”

The driver realized Xing Nuo had been lost and brought back.

But it wasn’t his fault. He wasn’t even an orphanage volunteer, just a hired driver.

Shen Wen, suppressing his anger, knew he couldn’t blame him.

Xing Nuo, sensing his displeasure, tugged on his shirt, his voice soft.

“It’s okay. Zaizai no lost. Other children come back soon.”

Shen Wen’s heart ached, and he carried Xing Nuo onto the bus, waiting.

The staff member, seeing them on the bus, unable to leave his post, waved goodbye.

Xing Nuo, hugging his backpack, sitting on the same seat as before, looked up at Shen Wen.

“Thank you, Mister.”

Shen Wen, his heart melting at the little one’s sweet voice, smiled and pinched his cheek gently.

It felt soft and squishy, like a jelly.

“You’re welcome. It was fate that brought us together.”

He wasn’t usually one to interfere, but the little one’s tears and his pitiful expression had softened his heart.

Seeing Xing Nuo sitting there patiently, waiting for the other children, his eyes crinkling into a smile, Shen Wen felt a pang of guilt.

The other children were enjoying the zoo, while Xing Nuo had been lost and scared.

His heart aching, he took out his phone and searched—

Requirements for adopting an orphan.
