Chapter 45
Inside the classroom, another player took a deep breath, his mind clearing slightly.
“Little one, tell us what you’re doing here. If you help us, we might be able to help you too.”
Players had entered this school-type instance before and knew that sometimes, information could be shared between different instances.
This child had suddenly appeared outside, but his aura was clean, his eyes innocent, not at all like the terrifying monsters outside.
Perhaps he was an ordinary child who had been accidentally pulled into the horror world?
Xing Nuo picked up the flashlight, accidentally switched it on, illuminating a small area of the corridor outside.
He gasped softly and, turning to the player who had spoken, replied:
“Really? Big brother…can you…chase away…monster teacher? He…bad teacher…bullies…children!”
The male player smiled wryly and shook his head.
“Sorry, I can’t.”
If he had the power to fight monsters, he wouldn’t be stuck in a C-level instance grinding for points.
Xing Nuo sighed, then asked:
“Big brother…have you seen…Teacher Xiao Song…or my brother?”
Thinking of Shen Baizhou, he puffed out his chest, a hint of pride in his voice.
“My brother…high school student!”
Very impressive! He could definitely chase away the monster teacher!
The male player wanted to say, what’s so impressive about a high school student?
He was probably stuck in another classroom instance just like them, praying for a miracle.
But looking at Xing Nuo’s innocent, delicate face, he couldn’t bring himself to say it.
“I haven’t seen them. But I have a tracking prop.”
He took out a small box, placed it on the table, and started negotiating with Xing Nuo.
“Little one, go and look at the numbers in the blue frame outside, and I’ll give you this tracking prop.”
He opened the box to demonstrate.
“When you open the box, a small firefly will appear. Think about the person or thing you’re looking for, and it will guide you there.”
But the target had to be in the same space as the user.
If they were in a different instance, the prop wouldn’t work.
And it only had three uses, with only one use remaining.
Xing Nuo, who had been searching for his dad, brother, and teacher like a headless chicken, knew this would be much faster.
He thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement.
“Okay.”
Holding the flashlight, Xing Nuo, his little chair still attached, waddled to the wall outside and looked up at the school principal’s introduction.
The small, black characters in the blue frame looked like tadpoles to him, blurring his vision.
But the Arabic numerals stood out, and Xing Nuo, starting from the first character, spotted two numbers on the third and fifth lines.
From inside the classroom, the player’s anxious voice echoed:
“Kid, did you see it? Any numbers?”
Xing Nuo’s childish voice replied, nodding:
“Yes…first one…um…three…and seven…”
The two numbers were written together, and he didn’t quite recognize the combination, only the individual digits.
The players mentally combined them into thirty-seven.
“Second one…eight…”
Thankfully, he recognized “eight.” He counted on his fingers, confirming he hadn’t made a mistake, and nodded.
The players hummed in response and asked:
“Any more?”
Xing Nuo continued searching, but the rest were characters he didn’t recognize, so he shook his head.
“Don’t know…those…”
The players wrote down the two numbers, their faces serious, comparing them.
“The first one can probably be ruled out. Thirty-seven is too large. I remember this school hasn’t even been established for seventy years. Normally, it takes at least three years to teach one class. The principal couldn’t have been teaching for longer than the school has existed, could he?”
This analysis was met with general agreement.
The female player, repeating the number eight, licked her dry, chapped lips, and asked:
“What about ‘eight’ then?”
The principal having taught eight classes of monster students seemed like a plausible answer.
The other players sighed, leaning back in their chairs with wry smiles.
“The problem is, we don’t know if these numbers are even related to the test questions. It’s just a guess that the introduction outside has the answers.”
Having come this far, they didn’t have a choice; they had to try!
The male player with the tracking prop closed the box, sighed, and tossed it to Xing Nuo, keeping his promise.
“Here, kid, take the prop, and keep the flashlight too.”
Xing Nuo picked up the box and nodded, then, just as he was about to leave, heard the player ask:
“By the way, what’s your last name?”
The fifth question on the test was still blank.
Xing Nuo replied obediently: “Shen.”
The players, determined to fill in all the answers, completed the test.
As they clicked the submit button, they saw Xing Nuo’s small figure disappear into the darkness.
Almost instantly, the first two questions were marked with bright red check marks.
Before they could celebrate, the “eight” they had filled in for the third question was marked with a large red cross.
Damn it!
Eight was wrong!
The principal’s introduction didn’t have the answer to this question!
Before despair could set in, the fourth question was also marked wrong.
The male player’s face paled, expecting imminent death, when he heard his companion gasp:
“The fifth question is correct?!”
He moved his hand from his face and saw a bright red check mark next to the character “Shen.”
The school monster’s surname was Shen?
What a coincidence, the same as the little boy’s!
Before they could process this, under the monster students’ menacing gazes, they cleared the instance, vanishing from the classroom.
At the same time, an announcement echoed through the school corridors:
[Attention! A report has been received from a monster teacher about a student violating classroom rules, wandering the halls!]
[The student in question is requested to return to the classroom immediately, or a major demerit will be issued!]
The players in other exam rooms, hearing the announcement, couldn’t help but wonder:
What kind of badass was this, daring to run out of the classroom?
That was certainly unusual!
Unfortunately, they didn’t possess such bravery. They would just have to focus on passing their tests.
The announcement also echoed in Shen Baizhou’s classroom.
Their extended exam time was just ending.
The monster teacher eagerly collected the test papers, his gaze fixed on Shen Baizhou as he quickly graded them.
He had announced the rules beforehand; he could only target the student with the lowest score.
Fortunately, Shen Baizhou didn’t disappoint him.
“Hahaha! Nine points!”
Even the former lowest-ranking student, the PE representative, had managed to get seventeen points!
The monster teacher cackled, slamming the test paper onto the desk.
“Let’s see, Shen Baizhou, was it? Come here and receive your punishment for being last place!”
As the other students watched nervously, their palms sweating, Shen Baizhou stood up, his face dark, and walked towards the podium.
A female student, unable to bear the sight, shouted:
“Shen Baizhou, don’t be reckless!”
Shen Baizhou didn’t look afraid at all.
His expression clearly said he wasn’t going to accept this!
As if he was about to fight the monster teacher.
But against a monster, he would be crushed with a single blow!
Still just students, shielded within the ivory tower of school, even those who had scored higher couldn’t help but worry about Shen Baizhou.
Shen Baizhou reached the podium, picked up his test paper under the monster teacher’s watchful gaze, and after examining it for a moment, cursed.
“What a stupid test!”
None of the questions were on topics he was good at!
He stabbed his pen into the desk, wanting to take a closer look at his mistakes, when the monster teacher’s annoying voice interrupted him.
“Well, student, which do you want me to eat first, your arm or your brainless head?”
Shen Baizhou put down his test paper, his anger simmering, his monolid lifting slightly as he sneered.
“What did you say?”
He had no brain?
He grinned, slowly rolling up his sleeves.
Under the students’ watchful gazes, Shen Baizhou punched the monster teacher, sending him crashing into the desk.
“Since you asked, I’ll show you what ‘no brain’ looks like.”
As a female student in the front row screamed, covering her eyes, he pulled the monster teacher, who was now embedded in the desk like a black tablecloth, back out.
“As a teacher, you should know how to solve these problems, right?”
He dangled the monster teacher like a small chick and tossed him back onto the podium.
“Don’t waste my time. Explain the questions.”
Black smoke seeped from the monster teacher’s body, a large part of his face unable to maintain its human form, looking like it might dissipate at any moment.
The monster teacher looked up at the high school student in front of him and let out a stunned “Whoa!”
“Which one of us is the monster here?!”
How could he be so arrogant after getting the lowest score?!
Shen Baizhou didn’t bother responding. Not swallowing him whole was already a testament to his respect for teachers.
“Stop wasting time. After a physics test, we’re supposed to go over the answers.”
Shen Baizhou’s face darkened as he thought of his own abysmal score.
“You better know how to explain these questions,” he said, his voice low and menacing.
this guy always gets me rolling 🤣
