A strange silence fell over Shen Baizhou’s classroom.

The monster teacher, his hands trembling as he held the textbook, stood at the podium, black smoke seeping from his forehead, his lips quivering.

“…Th-This question…uses…the concepts from…chapter one…we…we can first…calculate the velocity…”

Under Shen Baizhou’s menacing gaze from the back row, the monster teacher wanted to eat the textbook.

Why did he have to study even as a monster?!

He tried to remember, but his mind was blank.

What was Dad’s name?

And Teacher Xiao Song? Was her name just Xiao Song?

He remembered! His brother’s name was Shen Baizhou!

The little firefly, receiving the correct signal, its light brightening, flickered and flew down the corridor.

Only the small area illuminated by his flashlight had a faint glow.

He reached the end of the corridor.

The firefly hovered at the top of the stairs, as if waiting for him to catch up.

Xing Nuo frowned, thought for a moment, then lay down on his stomach and started crawling down the stairs backward, his bottom in the air.

He gripped the edge of each step, his little feet dangling in mid-air for a moment before finding purchase.

After much effort, his forehead covered in sweat, he straightened up and sighed.

He hadn’t even reached the next floor, and he was already exhausted. He sat down on his chair to rest.

Wiping his sweat, he smiled.

Good thing he had brought his little chair!

After resting for a bit, he stood up and continued his descent.

Following the firefly, he went down two floors.

Finally, the firefly stopped on the third floor.

“Oh my, a human cub!”

The monster teacher licked her lips, her mouth watering, wanting to devour the little one in a single gulp.

“Such a pity, your instance doesn’t seem to be connected to this school.”

Xing Nuo’s kindergarten had only been partially consumed by the energy from the horror world.

The monster teacher’s face lit up with a malicious glee.

But the female teacher’s pained cries were much louder.

She had been thrown against the wall and now lay slumped on the floor, semi-conscious.

Just as Xing Nuo was about to take this opportunity to escape, a cheerful voice called out:

“Xing Nuo!”

Xing Nuo’s flashlight had fallen to the ground. He picked it up and shone it on the approaching figure.

His eyes widening, he shook his head slightly.

The little zombie wore a large hoodie he’d gotten from somewhere and grinned, running towards Xing Nuo excitedly.

“Xing Nuo, don’t you remember me?”

The little zombie he had met in the zombie instance, his face pale and bloodless under the flashlight.

But his speech was much clearer now, his movements no longer stiff like a typical zombie.

He walked over to Xing Nuo, a wide smile revealing his small, sharp teeth.

“I’m Lu Qi.”

Lu Qi nodded vigorously, his black hair bouncing.

But Lu Qi disagreed. He pulled Xing Nuo’s arm, leading him in a different direction.

The familiar form of address made Lu Qi pause. He looked at Xing Nuo, his gaze distant, as if looking into the past.

He smiled and nodded.

“Yes, I have to…study human knowledge…in school…”
