Chapter 47
Hearing that Lu Qi was studying at the school, Xing Nuo gasped softly.
“Zaizai…doesn’t like…studying.”
Xing Nuo didn’t like kindergarten.
Even though the teacher gave him little red flowers and praised him for being the most well-behaved child, he still didn’t like going.
When he was at school, he couldn’t see his dad or brother for most of the day.
And during class, he had to keep his hands on the table, while that annoying chubby boy kept making faces at him.
Hearing that Lu Qi loved studying so much that he even lived at the school, Xing Nuo sighed in admiration.
“You…so amazing…”
Lu Qi smiled, a flicker of satisfaction in his stiff, mechanical face.
“I’m not amazing. I’ve never been human. There are many things…I don’t understand.”
So he had to study hard and learn how to be a human.
Lu Qi couldn’t resist reaching out and touching Xing Nuo’s warm, soft cheek with his cold fingertips.
“Xing Nuo…is the most amazing!”
Xing Nuo, praised so sincerely by another child, wiped his damp eyelashes, his cheeks flushing slightly.
“Not true…”
The “most amazing” Xing Nuo couldn’t even do addition and subtraction within ten.
During their short conversation, Xing Nuo’s knee had almost completely healed.
Although it was still slightly red and swollen, it didn’t hurt anymore.
Lu Qi rolled up the bandage and tucked it into Xing Nuo’s pocket.
“Keep this, Xing Nuo. You can use it a few more times.”
This type of prop bandage, although its healing power was limited and couldn’t heal fatal injuries, was convenient to carry and relatively inexpensive in the player market.
Lu Qi turned and rummaged through the storage room again, like a treasure-hunting mouse.
He straightened up, holding a brooch, and pinned it onto Xing Nuo’s clothes.
“Here, Xing Nuo, keep this safe.”
An S-level prop brooch, capable of deflecting a fatal blow from a high-level monster.
A life-saving prop coveted by all players.
Lu Qi wanted to give Xing Nuo all the good things he had snatched from other monsters, but Xing Nuo took a step back, shaking his head, refusing to accept them.
“Dad said…no take…other people’s…things…”
Lu Qi reluctantly gave up, then took Xing Nuo’s hand, feeling his strong, steady pulse.
“So good…I can touch…Xing Nuo…now…”
His new friend often said things Xing Nuo didn’t understand.
But Xing Nuo didn’t mind. He stomped his foot, confirming his knee no longer hurt, and turned to leave, looking for the missing firefly.
“I…going to…find…brother…”
He couldn’t waste any more time!
Little Knight Xing Nuo had to find reinforcements to rescue the children trapped with the bad teacher!
Lu Qi, hearing this, tilted his head, a flicker of light in his dull, lifeless eyes.
Xing Nuo was still as brave as ever!
He took Xing Nuo’s hand and said:
“I’ll take you…to him!”
Xing Nuo’s eyes lit up. He looked at Lu Qi.
“You know…where…my brother…is?”
Lu Qi nodded, ready to utilize his unique abilities.
A stream of blue data flashed before his eyes. The entire school shrunk, becoming a miniature map.
From south to north, the school’s plaza, the fountain, the teaching buildings, the cafeteria…everything appeared in Lu Qi’s mind.
He filtered out all the horror world instances, leaving only the two that had merged with the real world.
One was the kindergarten class where Xing Nuo had been.
The other was Shen Baizhou’s high school.
The high school classroom was on the same floor as them, the storage room on the west side, the classroom on the east side.
“Found him. We just need to…walk straight…to your brother’s classroom.”
The blue light in Lu Qi’s eyes faded. He turned, his voice cold and mechanical.
“We’ll pass…five classrooms…two have…monster teachers…one is special…PE teacher…outside…”
Each classroom had a different test, and the players were struggling to find the answers.
In some instances, even a moment’s hesitation could lead to a violation of the rules and instant death.
Lu Qi briefly scanned the content of these instances and looked at Xing Nuo.
“We can’t…go directly…instances…dangerous…patrolling teachers…”
Xing Nuo had just been caught by the female monster teacher, and Lu Qi had used all his power to send her flying.
If they encountered another one now, he wasn’t sure he could win.
Xing Nuo, listening to Lu Qi’s logical analysis, although not fully understanding it, nodded obediently.
“Then…what do we do?”
Lu Qi thought quickly, calculating the possibilities.
“There’s…a way…”
The monster teacher, chased out of the classroom by Shen Baizhou, crouched in the corridor, gasping for breath.
What kind of human was that?!
So strong!
Actually daring to break the rules and attack him, a monster teacher!
He thought of being slammed into the desk, becoming a tablecloth, and shuddered.
No, he couldn’t face that human again!
Shen Baizhou wanted a physics teacher?
The monster teacher grinned, deciding to trick someone else into taking his place.
In the corridor.
A PE monster teacher in a tank top was peering into a classroom, his gaze fixed on the students taking a test.
The players didn’t dare look back, their foreheads sweating, desperately trying to recall the clues they had gathered.
The monster PE teacher’s mouth watered, saliva dripping onto the floor.
He couldn’t wait to devour a human and replenish his energy!
Just as he was imagining the delicious meal he would have once a player made a mistake, he heard someone call out to him.
“Still waiting for those players to slip up?”
A monster, who had managed to snag an assignment in the human world instance, turned around, saw the PE teacher, and clicked his tongue, shaking his head.
“If you ask me, it’s better to just find a ready-made one!”
The PE teacher, powerful but not very bright, looked at him blankly.
“What do you mean?”
The monster grinned, a cunning look on his face.
“My class is almost over, time for harvest, but…”
He sighed dramatically and patted the PE teacher’s shoulder.
“I’m not as strong as you. There’s this weak little human I can’t seem to catch, such a delicious-looking morsel, right in front of me, and I can’t eat it.”
The PE teacher’s mouth watered.
“You’re too weak. Of course you can’t catch it!”
The confident PE teacher, eager, followed the monster, a shrill, excited laughter escaping his lips.
“Let me handle it, hehehe!”
The monster watched as the PE teacher walked away and sneered, calling him an idiot under his breath.
What good would it do even if he caught the human?
They were in different worlds. He couldn’t directly consume the humans, not like the monster, whose virtual form in the human world allowed him to.
But it was good to have a scapegoat.
Shen Baizhou wanted a different teacher, right?
Who said a PE teacher couldn’t teach physics?
Having completed his task, the monster teacher thought he wouldn’t be able to have a human snack today and decided to return to the horror world.
As he walked away, shrouded in darkness, he heard two faint voices.
“Xiao Qi, are you sure my brother is in the classroom ahead?”
“I’m sure! Shen Baizhou, right? I never make mistakes when it comes to finding people!”
“Wow, then let’s hurry!”
Hearing the name “Shen Baizhou,” the monster felt a sudden jolt of pain, then quickly recovered.
What did that child call Shen Baizhou?!
Brother!
Instantly, the pain vanished, and he straightened up, grabbing the two small figures hiding in the shadows.
“Hahaha! Gotcha!”
Holding a child in each hand, he dangled Xing Nuo, grinning.
“Did you just say…Shen Baizhou…is your brother?”
Xing Nuo, remembering Lu Qi’s instructions, nodded.
“Yes, Shen Baizhou…is my brother.”
The monster cackled, releasing the other child and dropping him to the floor.
“Perfect! I’m going to see your brother too! I’ll take you with me.”
His smile was sinister, his excitement making the black smoke seep from his body as he imagined using the little one to threaten Shen Baizhou.
Shen Baizhou, oh Shen Baizhou, that arrogant little human!
Now he had leverage!
Remembering the force of Shen Baizhou’s punch, his eyes gleamed.
If he devoured Shen Baizhou, he might even be able to level up to A-rank!
Then he could rule this entire school!
Lost in his fantasy, the monster teacher, carrying the weak little human cub, didn’t take him back to his kindergarten class, but turned and walked towards the high school classroom.
Just as Lu Qi had calculated, the monster teacher reached the high school classroom without encountering any obstacles, bypassing the dangerous instances along the way.
Xing Nuo, dangling in mid-air, looked through the window and saw his brother sitting in the last row, his head lowered as he worked on his test paper.
He swung his little legs and called out:
“Brother!”
Inside the classroom.
The PE teacher had met a glorious end, becoming another tablecloth on the podium.
Shen Baizhou, flipping through his test paper, his sharp hearing picking up the faint cry, looked up, his monolid lifting slightly.
He thought he had just heard his brother’s voice!
The windows were tinted, obscuring his view. He stood up and tapped the student in front of him on the shoulder.
“Did you…hear…my brother’s…voice?”
The student, both respectful and terrified of Shen Baizhou, who was even more dangerous than the monster teacher, trembled.
“Uh…I don’t know…your brother…”
How could he possibly know what his brother sounded like?!
