Chapter 55
The players, looking at the toy town in front of them, weren’t charmed by the fluffy toys. Instead, they frowned and cautiously took a few steps back.
The more enticing something appeared, the more suspicious they became.
The toy town opened its gates at 8:00 every morning to welcome guests. Before the players could speak, the gates slowly opened.
A giant, comical-looking teddy bear emerged. It had brown fur, a round face, and a fluffy body.
As if knowing how to maximize its cuteness, it tilted its head, waved its short arms, took a couple of steps forward, and bowed, patting its belly.
“Welcome to Toy Town! A paradise for fluffy toys!”
Its voice was loud and cheerful, its eyes curved into a smile.
“To welcome our guests, we’ve prepared some small gifts. Please come and choose one!”
A plump, white goose waddled over, honking cheerfully, and pushed a small cart towards the players.
“It’s our tradition in Toy Town. Please choose a cute plush toy to accompany you during your stay!”
The players had gathered information about Toy Town before arriving.
But unfortunately, although the basic setting remained the same, the dungeon’s content changed constantly.
They only knew that failing this dungeon wouldn’t result in being devoured by monsters, unlike other dungeons.
Instead, players would be turned into dolls and sold.
But the upside was that, even as dolls, they still had a chance to turn back into humans.
Although no one had reportedly succeeded yet, players who feared gruesome dungeons preferred this relatively gentler option.
Hearing the goose instruct them to choose a doll, the players, although puzzled, lined up and each chose a plush toy they liked.
Only Wen Xingxue remained motionless.
The goose and the bear looked at him, their black button eyes suddenly glowing red, their voices turning cold.
“This guest, why aren’t you choosing a toy? Are you dissatisfied with our hospitality? Or do you dislike our toys?”
Under the other players’ gazes, Wen Xingxue slowly approached the cart and looked at the dolls.
“Ugly,” he commented.
The goose honked angrily, flapping its wings, baring its teeth.
Wen Xingxue, seemingly unafraid of offending the toy animals, dodged the goose’s attack, swiftly drew his blade, and swung.
The goose was split in two, its fluffy white stuffing spilling out.
Xing Nuo peeked out of Wen Xingxue’s pocket, clinging to the edge, afraid of being thrown out.
A piece of fluff landed on his face, and he brushed it away.
The aggressive goose, having made its grand entrance just a minute ago, was now offline.
The other toy monsters gathered the stuffing and fabric, ready to send them back to the factory for recycling.
The brown teddy bear, seeing the cold and ruthless Wen Xingxue, didn’t dare say anything, the red glow in its eyes fading.
It waved its paws cheerfully, trying to appear friendly.
“It’s alright if you don’t want to choose one. But our Toy Doll Exhibition is about to begin, and every guest must participate. If you don’t have a doll, you can’t participate.”
Wen Xingxue finally mumbled, “Oh,” and pulled the clown doll out of his pocket.
“I have one.”
Xing Nuo, held by his tummy, fidgeted uncomfortably.
He looked up, saw the teddy bear, and waved his little round hand.
“Hewwo~”
The teddy bear walked over, looked down at the ugly doll, and recoiled.
“That’s so ugly! How can there be such an unsightly doll?!”
Xing Nuo, since becoming a doll, had been constantly insulted for his appearance.
But he wasn’t bothered. His button eyes sparkled, as if filled with sunlight, the colorful threads on his face seeming to brighten.
“Not! Zaizai vewy cute! Not ugly~”
The teddy bear, unable to bear looking at him any longer, turned to Wen Xingxue.
“The Toy Doll Exhibition will be held in a week. All toys will participate, and the prettiest doll will be chosen. Are you sure you want to enter this one?”
Other players, hearing this, couldn’t help but ask:
“What’s the prize for winning the exhibition?”
The teddy bear, sizing them up, lifted its fluffy chin haughtily and snorted.
“Of course there’s a prize! If you win the favor of our Toy City Mayor, you’ll receive a special reward!”
Many players’ eyes lit up.
They had heard that the Toy Town dungeon wasn’t as violent or dangerous as other dungeons, and despite being B-level, its clearance rate was relatively high.
It seemed to be true!
This toy exhibition must be the main objective of this dungeon. If they performed well, they could not only clear the dungeon but also receive a high-level prop!
And although they didn’t say it out loud, they all glanced at Wen Xingxue.
If it was a doll exhibition, even Wen Xingxue’s immense power wouldn’t give him an advantage!
They had a chance to win!
Wen Xingxue, ignoring their thoughts, cleaned his blade and sheathed it.
Xing Nuo, the tiny doll, however, gasped softly, nervous about the competition.
“We…we have to win!”
Wen Xingxue shrugged and hummed indifferently, then said:
“You’re noisy.”
Xing Nuo huffed, but, knowing Wen Xingxue’s bad temper, he quickly forgave him.
“Big Brother, you been in doll competition before?”
Wen Xingxue’s voice was cold and flat. “No.”
Xing Nuo, his little hand on his chin, frowned.
“Me neither. I no have toy dolls. Zaizai no like. Zaizai like widdle sword!”
Remembering his favorite toy, he sighed.
“I don’t know how to be in competition.”
Wen Xingxue, his ears assaulted by the doll’s constant chatter, rolled his eyes.
This little thing is so noisy.
The players followed the teddy bear, cautiously observing their surroundings as they entered Toy Town.
The town provided free accommodation for new arrivals on their first day.
“But starting tomorrow, you’ll have to pay rent!”
The bear, puffing out its fluffy chest, proudly introduced the town.
“Our Toy Town is unique and charming, attracting countless tourists every month. Finding a vacant house is difficult!”
“If you want to stay longer, you’ll have to pay rent!”
The players nodded, looking at the fairytale-like toy houses.
If this were in the human world, it would be a famous theme park, with long queues of tourists.
Each player was assigned a toy house, and they entered their respective houses after the teddy bear left.
Wen Xingxue also entered his assigned house and took the chattering doll out of his pocket.
Xing Nuo, placed on a cute, flower-shaped sofa, bounced a couple of times, his eyes sparkling.
“Big Brother, this place so pwetty!”
The dreamy, adorable decorations were perfect!
He climbed on and off the sofa, and before Wen Xingxue could stop him, he climbed onto a warm-colored lampshade.
“What are you doing?”
Wen Xingxue, not even bothering to clean his knife, hurried over and picked up the doll.
Xing Nuo, dangling in the air, his button eyes blinking, explained:
“Zaizai want see…how light works.”
Wen Xingxue, sighing, placed him as far away from the lamp as possible.
“Don’t run around! Stay here.”
Xing Nuo didn’t reply. Seeing Wen Xingxue turn away to clean his knife, he climbed back onto the sofa and jumped off.
“Oops!”
Wen Xingxue, seeing the little thing’s reckless behavior, his veins bulging, grabbed him from the soft carpet.
“Why are you jumping?” he asked, trying to control his anger.
Xing Nuo explained obediently:
“Zaizai want see…carpet soft? And…Zaizai jump…no owie~”
Just a small sofa. Such a short distance. How could it possibly be a challenge for the brave Xing Nuo?!
Wen Xingxue felt like this little thing was his nemesis!
His forehead throbbing, he struggled to control his temper.
“Stop jumping.”
He wasn’t good at disciplining children and turned away, resuming his knife cleaning.
Xing Nuo nodded obediently this time and climbed onto Wen Xingxue’s foot, looking up at him.
Having tested the stranger’s patience several times, he grinned.
