Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 44: No Hard Feelings Part 1

Xiao Fen returned to the town entrance and discovered that his suitcase and backpack were gone.

Thinking of Tang Shen and the others, he asked the travelers around and finally learned about the Vice Squad Officers’ apartment in town.

The apartment dorm was fairly large, but it still had that early 2000s style. The white plaster on the outer walls showed signs of peeling in many places. As soon as Xiao Fen entered through the big iron gate of the dorm, Vice Squad Officers from upstairs and downstairs all turned to look at him in unison.

No surprise there—everyone inside had participated in the operation to capture him, yet not a single one had succeeded.

A tall, skinny figure stepped out from the crowd. He was about the same height as Xiao Fen, but this one had a sharp, heroic air and slightly longer messy hair than the typical Vice Squad Officer.

“Hello, I’m here to get my suitcase.”

“You forgot who I am?”

“How could I forget? Xu Nuo.” Xiao Fen smiled faintly. “Back then, I tied you up myself.”

Speaking of that made him furious. He had just been following orders to capture someone near a village in City A. He had been about to catch up when his vision blurred. When he woke up, Ou Yu was the only one beside him.

For those few days, Ou Yu dressed him in Xiao Fen’s clothes and pants, put Xiao Fen’s usual duckbill cap on him, fed him sleeping pills, and dragged him into hiding. Finally, on the last day, he dumped him in a park pavilion for Bai Zhu to rescue.

He had never lost face like that in his life.

Even more humiliating was that Xiao Fen had worn a human skin mask to impersonate him and turned him into a total sissy!

“Goddamn it! Today, no one’s pulling me off—you’re getting your head bashed in!” The real Xu Nuo was skinny and tall, but he was a hot-tempered tough guy.

No sooner had he spoken than Xu Nuo’s fist came whistling through the air.

But the other man’s movements were even faster. A blur flashed by, and everyone saw Xu Nuo cry out before slamming face-first into the ground.

Xu Nuo spun around with a leg sweep and leaped up from the ground. He closed in rapidly, forcing the man back several steps. Then both fists came howling in with wind-whipping sounds, smashing toward Xiao Fen’s face and body.

Xiao Fen remained unhurried, blocking each one methodically. Finally, he swung his arm in a full circle and smashed a fist right into Xu Nuo’s face.

“Nice!” The people in the courtyard cheered, then remembered that the one who got hit was their own teammate.

Awkward.

Xiao Fen stepped over the unconscious Xu Nuo, massaging his knuckles. He was all polite and well-behaved. “Excuse me, have you all seen my suitcase?”

The people in the courtyard exchanged glances.

A few seconds later, over a dozen men silently stepped forward, cracking their knuckles as they closed in.

This was a direct challenge to their faces. No way they weren’t fighting back.

Xiao Fen’s lips curved up. He flashed forward proactively and knocked the frontmost one to the ground with a punch.

The courtyard descended into chaos.

Vice Squad Officers on the upstairs walkways shouted. People stuck their heads out from the rooms.

Of the dozen or so who had charged first, five or six were already down. The Action Team Vice Squad Officers in the back, not ones to miss out on the fun, came running excitedly, wave after wave.

Xiao Fen’s skills were a bit weaker in raw power compared to Fang Si Ting’s, but against these guys, he could go toe-to-toe without any issue. He didn’t go for lethal strikes either—just sparred with them in a friendly competition mindset.

But there were just too many.

He gradually felt his strength waning. Things were looking bad. He ducked an attack, circled around the apartment in a hurry.

“Chase him!”

A few jumped onto the second-floor balcony, ran a few steps, then leaped down spread-eagled.

They were all hot-blooded young guys. Everyone yelled as they chased after just him, coming from all directions, each showing off their skills.

Vice Squad Officers on the third floor vaulted over the walkway railing, bounding down nimbly with a few pushes off the walls, not forgetting to attack Xiao Fen on the way.

“You guys are too much!” Xiao Fen clutched his head and dodged frantically, evading the incoming fists and feet. He slammed two heads together, dropping them, then darted through the gap they left, fleeing fast.

His feet didn’t stop. He twisted his head excitedly for a look. Those guys were yelling as they chased, but suddenly they all halted, looking guilty and scared.

Puzzled, the next second—

His body collided with someone.

“Urgh…”

Xiao Fen bounced back instantly. He spun around with lightning reflexes, dodging the person and running to the side.

But his collar got hooked from behind. His shirt stretched, yanking his whole body back.

“What are you doing here?” Fang Si Ting grabbed him. His calm voice hid underlying anger.

He had just sat down less than ten minutes ago when he heard cheers and commotion outside. He came out to see the leader of the pack darting left and right, constantly shifting forms, leading a long trail of people behind him.

Sure enough, it was that guy stirring up trouble.

Wherever this man was, there was no peace.

What a handful.

“I got beat up by your guys. Look, look, right here…” Xiao Fen stood there all crooked. Hearing that, he immediately complained, pointing to his arm, his collarbone. He even lifted his hem to show his belly and chest.

The hand around his neck released quickly, dodging his face.

Xiao Fen hadn’t expected him to let go so cleanly. His feet weren’t steady yet. His hands flailed twice before he barely managed to grab onto Fang Si Ting’s neck.

His face was soaked with sweat. Strands of dark hair at his temples were wet, dangling in front of his fox-like eyes. His pearl-white skin was flushed pink. His pomegranate-red lips parted slightly, moist and glistening. Crystal sweat beads slid from his face down his neck, finally vanishing into his thin chest.

Amid his rapid breaths and heaving chest, the cold cliff cypress scent gained a humid warmth.

Fang Si Ting’s Adam’s apple bobbed.

Xiao Fen buried his head in Fang Si Ting’s chest, rubbing back and forth hard against his suit shirt.

“Xiao! Fen!”

The sweat in his eyes finally cleared. Xiao Fen steadied himself and let go. While catching his breath, he patted Fang Si Ting’s chest. “Thanks.”

Fang Si Ting stared at the mess he had made of his clothes. His face turned completely dark.

“Everyone, fall in.” His gaze swept coldly over everyone present.

The Action Team Vice Squad Officers shuddered and immediately snapped into formation, lining up in neat squares, standing silent as pines.

“What happened?”

“Report: Criminal Xiao Fen came looking for his suitcase.”

“And then?” Fang Si Ting’s voice was heavy.

After a moment’s hesitation, a squad leader said, “Xu Nuo fought him.”

“Winner?”

“He… lost.”

“All of you, so many people, and you couldn’t catch one man?”

Collective silence.

“All personnel, run one hundred laps around the perimeter wall outside the estate.”

“Yes, sir.”

They pulled long faces but didn’t object. They formed neat ranks and marched toward the estate outskirts.

“Wait.” Xiao Fen hurriedly grabbed him. “We were just messing around. Why punish them for no reason?”

“Brother Fen is wise.” A few in the crowd jeered.

Xiao Fen waved them off. Couldn’t they see Fang Si Ting was on the edge of exploding?

“Was it ‘just messing around’ when they were tracking you before?”

“No.”

“Then they’re incompetent.”

“Why not say it was your command mistake?” Xiao Fen said. “Why don’t you run?”

Fang Si Ting stared at him for a few seconds until Xiao Fen got creeped out. Then he took off his suit jacket, jogged to the front of the line, and started leading the run toward the estate outskirts.

“Wait, I’m here for my suitcase.” Xiao Fen chased after Fang Si Ting, running alongside him.

“Did you guys take my suitcase or not?”

“What do you think?”

Fang Si Ting seemed mad at him.

Xiao Fen was baffled.

He hadn’t provoked the man.

This guy’s thoughts were so hard to read. Always wearing that ice-block face—didn’t he get tired?

“Inspector Fang, your subordinates and I really didn’t cause trouble.”

“We were just sparring. Pursuit Team and Criminal Team sparring each other—nothing wrong with that, right?”

“Inspector Fang?”

“Go ask Tang Shen.”

“Oh.”

“Why haven’t you left?”

“You’re punishing yourself too. As the culprit, shouldn’t I run with you?”

“Don’t think you can buy their loyalty like this.”

“You saw through it.” Xiao Fen wiped the sweat from his face and grinned at him, cheeks flushed red. “Winning them over is such a hassle. Winning you over is way more efficient.”

Fang Si Ting sped up, surging five or six meters ahead of the group.

What kind of person was this?

Xiao Fen shook his head and took Fang Si Ting’s spot, running at the front of the pack.

By the time the hundred laps ended, Tang Shen had brought out the suitcase and backpack to the entrance. He handed them towels and water.

“You were running so eagerly earlier. With all those people coming and going outside, I was worried it’d get stolen, so I grabbed it. I even told someone to wait—how come the message didn’t get passed properly?”

“Thanks. Team Leader Tang is the best to me. I’ll treat you to dinner later.”

“Deputy Team Leader Tang, you’ve been chatting nonstop with him since the plane. Advice: Watch out for him prying out your weaknesses. Then he’ll turn it against you.” Fang Si Ting said.

A hundred laps barely winded him. But his black shirt was thoroughly soaked with sweat, clinging to his lean, powerful frame. The smooth muscle lines faintly showed through.

Xiao Fen hooked a finger into the leather cuff on his upper arm, stretching it out then letting it snap back.

The leather cuff snapped against his sweat-damp shirt with a meaty smack.

“Xiao Fen, believe me or not…”

“I’m outta here.” Xiao Fen hurriedly dragged his suitcase and bolted.

The live stream chat erupted in laughter.

【Brother Fen’s hands are just asking for it.】

【Does no one else think Fang Yama looks so sexy like this? If he panted any louder…】

After completing 101 unlimited flow missions, Xiao Fen successfully retired and transmigrated as a background character in an entertainment industry novel.

The first second he opened his eyes, a uniformed staff member said, "You're under arrest."

Xiao Fen thought, A new chill retirement method unlocked?

The original body belonged to a minor 18th-tier celebrity in the book, someone who debuted purely on his looks. He sucked at acting, singing, and dancing, had a timid personality, and got dumped by his agency into a new variety show to squeeze out his last bit of value.

"No Escape" was a real-person chase-and-escape challenge program. The program crew arranged for celebrities and various civilian experts to play criminals, pitting them against the nation's top pursuit team leader, special forces members, criminal profilers, intel experts... As long as they evaded capture each time, the winner would claim a five hundred million prize.

Penniless Xiao Fen, without even a system: How much did you say?

Fang Si Ting, former Special Investigation Bureau tactical analyst and action division special inspector, was rigid and abstinent, never smiled, always buttoned up to the collar—a total workaholic. He handled over a hundred major serious cases with a zero failure rate. Plenty of criminals saw his stern, majestic face and went weak in the knees on the spot.

When the show aired—

While other guests scrambled to dodge surveillance and grab cash, Xiao Fen leisurely hit on hot guys in the city streets, knocked them out, and delivered them to the police station for hefty bounties.

While others tried every trick to hide their tracks, Xiao Fen disguised himself with explosive acting skills and strolled right out under the investigation team's noses.

While others fled to remote wildernesses, Xiao Fen located the pursuit team's building, joined them for lunch, listened to the vice squad officers' progress reports, and even flirted with the pursuit team leader.

At the start, the live stream chat:

【A new way to court death.】

【Who is this guy? Total airhead, wasting that face.】

【If he's not caught in ten minutes, I'll do a handstand in the shower.】

After airing, the live stream chat:

【Unbelievable doesn't even begin to cover it.】

【Officer, your fugitive delivery has arrived at the door.】

【Fake criminal catches real criminal—fighting crime starts with me!】

【Who said Brother Fen is just a pretty face? He had my legs going weak.】

【Brother Fen actually winked at Fang Yama. Tired of living, huh!】

After escaping under their noses multiple times, Fang Si Ting decided to join the chase personally, pitting his wits against Xiao Fen.

Global viewers held their breath daily for Xiao Fen's safety. After the finale, they got Fang Si Ting's on-air proposal to Xiao Fen instead.

【Mommy, the CP I ship is real!】
