Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 20 Part 2

Yu Qingxian said this because he’d seen how popular Chu Yi was with the women. He didn’t know if Xuan Arts Masters like them dated ordinary people, but if Chu Yi had no such taboos and liked playing the field, he definitely needed to protect his privacy.

Having been caught in that scene, the old-fashioned Chu Yi felt embarrassed. He clenched his fist and coughed lightly. “What they asked me about were all proper matters.”

Though one had snuck a touch on his face, envious of his good skin, and another had batted her eyes at him… but those were the exceptions. Most people’s attention was on the Protective Talismans.

Yu Qingxian wasn’t sure if he believed it, but he nodded. “Right, have you looked over the contract enough? When can you come to the company to sign it and handle the formalities? I’ll get you a manager as soon as possible.”

“Sure.”

Yu Qingxian didn’t even bother with Cui Ran anymore. He left with Ouyang Yuyuan and his bodyguard assistant.

Once in the car, he called his big brother Yu Zhensheng. “Big Brother Yu, you free right now? I’ll come over.”

Of course Yu Zhensheng had time. His little brother rarely came to the company to see him—he’d push aside anything for it.

Big Brother Yu was almost forty, over ten years older than his little brother. With their second sister being playful, he had been the one looking after Yu Qingxian when he was young.

Yu Qingxian brought Ouyang Yuyuan to Yu Corporation headquarters. Big Brother Yu had taken over from the Yu Patriarch and was now the executive president. After the three sat down, Yu Qingxian vaguely relayed the news he’d just heard about the Cui Family.

Big Brother Yu sucked in a breath. “I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t said anything. There have been some targeted moves against the Cui Family from above lately… Qingxian, where’d you get this intel? Reliable?”

Yu Qingxian said cautiously, “I think it’s pretty reliable.”

Ouyang Yuyuan said excitedly, “Big Cousin, you’d better believe it. Yi—”

Before he finished, Yu Qingxian shot him a glare. Yu Qingxian had already warned him in the car not to mention Chu Yi, let alone that he was a Xuan Arts Master.

Yu Qingxian had no other intentions—his big brother was almost forty and still single, with all the masters declaring his marriage prospects hopeless. He didn’t want the old man hearing this and getting his hopes up again.

Yu Zhensheng didn’t know what riddle they were playing at, but his thoughts had already drifted elsewhere. The business world was a battlefield. If the Cui Family’s enterprises lost their backer, big sharks would soon emerge from the depths to fight over and tear them apart. If he wanted in, this intel came at the perfect time.

Yu Zhensheng had no pity for the Cui Family. He represented the entire Yu Family—if the Yu Family ever fell, other powers wouldn’t show them mercy either.

And don’t talk about standing by if not helping—once others grew stronger, they’d come after them. Survival of the fittest was the rule. Lions didn’t play fair with cheetahs; only lions talked with lions.

“Big Brother, double-check this intel. If there’s profit to be made, I hope you can kick back twenty percent to the source.”

Any more wouldn’t be appropriate, since the manpower and resources were all from Yu Corporation, and they bore the risks.

Yu Zhensheng glanced at his little brother. “Of course.”

He could tell his little brother was hiding some details from him, but he was just reminding him that if this was real, the intel provider had considerable influence. As long as it didn’t harm their interests, it was best to maintain the relationship carefully.

Ouyang Yuyuan grinned cheekily. “Big Cousin, don’t you trust Cousin Xian’s judgment?”

Seeing his smirking face, Yu Zhensheng wanted to lecture him. “I trust him plenty. It’s you I’m worried about. Your little aunt has called from abroad several times asking about you. Call home more when you have time. Always grinning like a fool—what does that look like…”

For some reason, the more sensible his little brother was, the more heartbroken he felt, hoping he’d be more lively. But with his cousin, he just saw him as slouching everywhere, wishing he could keep him close and discipline him personally.

Ouyang Yuyuan pulled a long face and listened obediently to the scolding.

He had chosen the aloof Cousin Xian back then precisely to avoid Big Cousin’s lectures. He never should have come today!

Chu Yi returned to the crew and discovered that Qin Xiaoran and Cui Ran had both disappeared. Director Mo finished up and couldn’t find them when he turned back. He called, and it got through—Qin Xiaoran said he had a sudden emergency and probably couldn’t make it today.

How could Director Mo not know what he was up to? He was just cozying up to Second Young Master Cui, figuring it was worth offending him. Director Mo was so furious he nearly cursed him out over the phone.

With so many staff waiting on site and scenes already scheduled, Qin Xiaoran was the lead actor, and most of today’s shots involved him. Even if they filmed the ones without him first, the afternoon would still be a dead window.

He spotted Chu Yi idling nearby and came over to discuss. “Young Master Chu, you’ve adapted pretty well these past few days, right? How about trying some scenes today?”

Chu Yi thought for a moment and nodded. “I’m fine with that.”

“Great, get ready then. We’ll start this afternoon.”
