Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 25 Part 4

Liu Shengqing snapped back to attention. “Yes, the actor playing the imperial envoy has arrived. Director Mo said the weather is nice today, so we should go film the horseback riding scene.”

Chu Yi nodded. Director Mo probably wanted to test the guy’s horsemanship. After all, there had been a chase scene interrupted earlier, and a new actor with poor riding skills wouldn’t do.

The two turned back, with Chu Yi leading and Liu Shengqing following.

Chu Yi suddenly felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulled it out and saw it was a text about a large payment received. They had agreed on double, but President Yu generously sent three times the amount, followed by a long string of zeros.

Chu Yi’s mood instantly improved. He picked up the Mobile Phone and called his Sugar Daddy.

“Hello, why are you suddenly calling me… Did you get the money?” President Yu responded quickly.

Down below, a group of vice presidents and top agents watched as President Yu swiveled his boss chair around, turned his back to them to take the call, and even sounded quite cheerful. They didn’t know how to react.

The one giving the report felt the most awkward. Should he continue speaking or sit down and wait for the General Manager to finish his call?

Chu Yi: “Yes, why did President Yu add extra money?”

Yu Qingxian paused for a moment. “It’s nothing. Didn’t you feel sorry about those materials? Isn’t it good to give you more money to buy them?”

That’s not just a little—you added ten million directly!

For the first time, Chu Yi felt President Yu’s wealth was inhumanely generous. But speaking of materials, he excitedly shared what had just happened with the Special Affairs Office delivering good stuff to him. “They want a Purple Thunder Talisman, but the weather isn’t cooperating, so there’s nothing I can do.”

Yu Qingxian’s mind turned quickly. “Does it have to be real thunder and lightning? Would artificial electricity work?”

Chu Yi’s eyes lit up. “We can try it.”

“Alright then. I’ll arrange a laboratory as soon as possible and notify you when it’s ready.”

“Won’t that be too much trouble?” Chu Yi felt a bit puzzled, but he couldn’t deny that President Yu’s concern made him feel great.

He had initially thought this man was a bit aloof, but he turned out to be both meticulous and considerate. He really was a good boss!

Yu Qingxian also realized he had agreed too readily, but since the words were already out, he couldn’t take them back. “No problem. I’m just having someone else handle it anyway.”

He already had the perfect person in mind for that “someone else”—his big-mouthed cousin Ouyang Yuyuan. No one else would do.

“Great, I’ll wait for the good news from President Yu.”

Chu Yi hung up with a smile on his lips. He turned around and realized that Liu Shengqing, who had caught up, was looking at him strangely.

“What’s wrong?” Chu Yi asked.

Because he didn’t want Liu Shengqing to hear about the Special Affairs Office’s internal matters, he had quickened his pace during that part of the conversation. As a result, Liu Shengqing had only glimpsed the payment notification and heard that line—“President Yu, why did you add extra money?”

President Yu!

You how!

Added money?!

Liu Shengqing’s face was full of complicated emotions. “Are you and President Yu really… that kind of relationship?”

After asking, he seemed to regret it and quickly tried to mend it. “No, I didn’t mean to pry into Yi Ge’s private life… I, I didn’t hear anything just now!”

Chu Yi frowned. “I don’t know from what standpoint you’re asking this question. If it’s out of concern, I can tell you that President Yu and I have no special relationship. If it’s something else…”

Chu Yi fell silent for a moment. “Liu Shengqing, I know how tragic it is to be born in the wrong time and place. I’ve had that experience myself—probably even worse than yours.”

The people in his village had thought he was unlucky. Many suggested starving him to death or burying him alive, and they had actually done it. He had survived by sheer luck, digging his way out of the dirt…

“I’ll say this only once today. Birth doesn’t decide everything. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to climb up or having ambition. But if you want to advance by harming others, I can’t condone that… Don’t make me regret helping you today, okay?”

Without waiting for Liu Shengqing to defend himself, Chu Yi turned and strode away. “Think about it carefully yourself.”

Liu Shengqing remained rooted to the spot, fists clenched, his eyes gradually reddening.

He knew full well how despicable his actions were. But if he didn’t do it this way, he wouldn’t even have the right to stand in front of Chu Yi!

From the time he could remember, his mother had instilled in him an obsession with revenge. Even now, years later, the first thing she asked on her calls was whether he had avenged his brother yet.

If he said no, she would curse him out, calling him a waste, saying his brother would never have been so useless if he were alive!

Liu Shengqing desperately wanted to be someone his mother could be proud of, but she showed no interest in anything about him except revenge.

It was almost laughable. Over all these years, aside from his elementary school teacher and the neighbor auntie, Chu Yi was the only one who had taken the time and effort to guide him. Even the occasional tips he picked up from Director Mo, Chu Yi never hid from him.

And what had he done? He had plotted against the other man to achieve his goals. Chu Yi must have seen through it, or he wouldn’t have said those words…
