Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 2 Part 1

A major sect class ended, and the disciples left in twos and threes.

The owner of the jade pendant where Xie Linlang resided also stood up and returned to the small courtyard where he temporarily lived.

Demonic Qi surged within Silent Night Palace, where pavilions and towers faintly appeared. The sect as a whole was situated on a peninsula, surrounded by many ordinary courtyards in a ‘回’-shaped structure—four rows of houses enclosing a central courtyard. These were the residences for menial disciples and ordinary disciples.

The jade pendant’s owner entered a side corridor room.

The long, narrow corridor room was divided into two spaces. A nameplate hung on the door of the right room, which read Shen He.

So, the jade pendant’s owner was named Shen He.

A nameplate by the door of the left room read Pang Sanxian.

With a click, the left door was pushed open, and a chubby little fatty poked his head out.

Pang Sanxian said, “Junior Brother Shen, you’ve finished the major class? Sect major classes are really just the seniors chatting about their misdeeds, using the excuse of educating the masses to offload their Karmic Obstacles onto us. Listen too many times, and you’ll end up with bad luck.”

Shen He seemed to chuckle. He said, “I listened to the knowledge that was useful to me. Sharing some Karmic Obstacles is only right. You know my grandfather was just an ordinary person. If not for luckily joining the sect, I wouldn’t know anything.”

Pang Sanxian replied, “True. After the major class, you should get two Class Hours Points, right? Can you give me one? I’m hungry, but I have no Class Hours Points left.”

Attending sect major classes helped the seniors offload their Karmic Obstacles. Disciples not only heard some wicked experiences from Demonic Cultivator seniors but also earned two Class Hours Points, which could be exchanged at the sect cafeteria for food infused with Demonic Qi to boost cultivation.

—You shared my Karmic Obstacles, and I gave you plenty of benefits in return. A fair trade, cash on delivery.

But since they were all Demonic Cultivators, some demonic sect disciples naturally didn’t want to bear the causal karma of the seniors’ Karmic Obstacles yet still craved the grand meals to advance their cultivation!

Like the current situation.

Shen He seemed somewhat reluctant. “The Class Hours Points I lent Senior Brother last time… Senior Brother hasn’t paid me back yet…”

Pang Sanxian said carelessly, “I’m a proper disciple, while you’re just a menial disciple. Being able to attend class is already great fortune from the heavens. Any more would be a disaster. I’m helping you avert calamity here—hand over the Class Hours Points quick.”

Xie Linlang couldn’t help rolling his eyes upon hearing this.

Xie Linlang thought: Too cliché. Every year, big shots among Loose Cultivators and outer sect geniuses from immortal sects all started as menial disciples.

Were Demonic Cultivators’ brains really that smart? They still bullied menial disciples even like this?

Shen He gritted his teeth. “No, I can’t give them to you.”

Pang Sanxian immediately threatened Shen He. “Your grandfather is still working as the manager at my family’s restaurant. Kid, if it weren’t for the demonic sect immortal master coming to eat at our restaurant back then, taking me as a disciple, and incidentally discovering that you, the waiter in the main hall, also had a Demonic Root, you’d still be calling out dish names at the restaurant right now!”

Shen He suddenly grew anxious. “You’re threatening me!”

Pang Sanxian said disdainfully, “So what if I’m threatening you?”

Shen He clenched his fist and punched straight at him.

Pang Sanxian might have looked fat, but his movements were nimble. He deftly dodged, then backhanded Shen He, slapping him against the wall.

“Kid, how long have you been cultivating? No resources, no background, and you want to fight me?”

A hint of ferocity appeared on Pang Sanxian’s plump face. “Believe it or not, I’ll send a message home right now and have your grandfather buried!”

Hearing this, Shen He’s blood surged to his head, his eyes turning red. He and his grandfather depended on each other for life. If his grandfather died because of this…

Xie Linlang had been listening indifferently at first, but at that moment, he suddenly sensed something about to erupt within Shen He’s body. The next second, the jade pendant he inhabited actually absorbed that power!

Xie Linlang was extremely surprised. His power had increased slightly?

Shen He stammered, “I-I…”

As he struggled to pry himself off the wall, Pang Sanxian approached.

He reached out with his fat, thick palm and grabbed Shen He’s neck, about to continue his threats. But the next second, Shen He—who had seemed powerless to fight back—suddenly slapped Pang Sanxian backhanded.

Shen He was stunned.

Wait, it wasn’t him! His hand had moved on its own!

Pang Sanxian looked at Shen He in disbelief.

That slap had been extremely skillful, landing crisply on his face. Pang Sanxian’s fat face instantly turned purplish like pig liver. “I see you don’t want to live, kid!”

But Shen He suddenly raised his knee, smashing it right into Pang Sanxian’s chin. As Pang Sanxian loosened his grip in pain, Shen He braced one hand against the wall, spun 180 degrees in mid-air, and kicked Pang Sanxian square in the face.

Crack—

Pang Sanxian’s fat body crashed straight through three room doors, landing with a thud in the central courtyard.

After failing his Tribulation Transcendence, Xie Linlang inexplicably entered the Portable Jade Pendant carried by a Menial Disciple, becoming the trendy "portable golden finger grandpa."

Xie Linlang had originally planned to slack off, but he discovered that this disciple bore an extremely similar face to his Dao Companion Pei Ji, who had passed away over a hundred years prior.

*

"Could it be his reincarnation?"

Xie Linlang thought so. Thus, he bucked up and earnestly guided the disciple in his cultivation.

*

—Until Silent Night Palace suffered a great calamity. Before countless disciples, the Jiye Palace Lord cleaved the sea open with a single sword and stood in mid-air.

—Then, he arrived before Xie Linlang.

Pei Jiye, the Silent Night Demon Lord—whose reputation in the Demon Domain was the worst, with ruthless methods that could hush a crying child at night—had blood-red eyes. His hoarse voice carried a chilling undertone as he asked in a soft, delicate tone, "Who were you smiling at just now?"

Xie Linlang fell silent for a dozen seconds, his own eyes reddening.

"You clearly didn't die. Why did you hide from me for a century?"

The Demon Lord, who had been radiating killing intent and arrogance just moments before, immediately shrank back.

"This... there are reasons for it..."

Wonderful. You're still alive.

Ascending to immortality cannot compare to you in the mortal world.

**Disclaimers:**

1. This is my dog-blood style. I wanted to write some fun, brainless, self-indulgent stuff. Please don't nitpick logic or details—everything serves the plot.

2. The story background is traditional immortal hero progression. The protagonist Xiao Xie acts faster with his hands than his mouth, so some behaviors seem crazy. He has his own logic. Don't apply real-world thinking to the characters' ideas or plot. It's just for fun—take it or leave it.

3. The demonic cultivator disciple that the male lead Xie Linlang takes in is Pei Jiye's nephew, so they look similar. There will be body-double jealousy plots and all sorts of brainless misunderstandings. Mind readers, beware.

4. Hands-faster-than-mouth shou × equally fast-handed-and-mouthed, brain-broken gong. My style of romance—gong and shou are equals. They both have flaws, but they complement each other to become perfect and flawless.

5. Xie Linlang starts as a jade pendant and will soon reshape his immortal body.
