Recently, due to a bug when splitting chapters, it was only possible to upload using whole numbers, which is why recent releases ended up with a higher chapter number than the actual chapter number. The chapters already uploaded and their respective novels can no longer be fixed unless we edit and re-upload them chapter by chapter(Chapters content are okay, just the number in the list is incorrect), but that would take a lot of time. Therefore, those uploaded in that way will remain as they are. The bug has been fixed(lasted 1 day), as seen with the recently uploaded novels, which can be split into parts and everything works as usual. From now on, all new content will be uploaded in correct order as before the bug happens. If time permits in the future, we may attempt to reorganize the previously affected chapters.

Chapter 31 Part 1

“You two were once disciples of my Nine Spirits Sect?”

When the giant snake raised its snake head, viewed from below, its body was enormous, at least several dozen meters tall and three meters wide. Shadows enveloped them, instilling fear in the heart.

The two snake heads slowly rose higher. The main black snake head had crimson eyes filled only with ferocity and viciousness.

A suspicious expression appeared on the seven-inch small snake head as it looked down condescendingly at the two cultivators.

Among these juniors, the female cultivator’s aptitude was undetectable, but she was pretty enough to serve as a maidservant.

As for the male cultivator, though his strength was low, he could smell the aura of the Demon Race on him. Perhaps he had awakened a Demon Race Bloodline.

With a little nurturing, he could become the first demon spirit for the Nine Spirits Totem Secret Art, helping him shed this filthy Demon Body and return to the immortal path.

But the Nine Spirits Sect Master was no fool. The circumstances were too coincidental. He had lingered in this underground palace for so many years, and suddenly two cultivators appeared, both claiming to be disciples of the Nine Spirits Sect?

Thus, he asked in a majestic voice, “Which branch’s disciple are you?”

Le Qingping’s heart leaped to her throat upon hearing this.

She knew nothing at all.

Xie Linlang kept his head slightly lowered, so the black snake could only see his long, ink-black hair cascading like a waterfall.

The youth’s voice was hoarse and low, his tone unhurried.

“This disciple is the re-transmitted disciple of Que Ting Yunxia Fairy. Ten years ago, this disciple accidentally entered the cave abode she left behind and received her inheritance. Although the Nine Spirits Sect suffered a great calamity, preventing this disciple from formally joining the sect, the jade slip left by Shizun Yunxia stated that the Nine Spirits Totem seizes the Demon Race Bloodline Divine Ability for its own use. As long as the technique is passed down, it can achieve effects similar to the Demon Race Bloodline Divine Ability, allowing the Nine Spirits Sect to reestablish the sect in later generations and become great once more!”

Back then, in order to investigate Pei Ji’s disappearance, Xie Linlang had commissioned many loose cultivators and demonic cultivators to keep long-term tabs on the whereabouts of Nine Spirits Sect cultivators above the Nascent Soul realm.

Unfortunately, cultivators’ movements were elusive, and Xie Linlang had only gathered scattered bits of intelligence.

Que Ting Yunxia Fairy was the Nine Spirits Sect manager stationed at Que Ting Bazaar, so her traces were the easiest to find, and her information was complete.

Upon hearing Que Ting Yunxia Fairy’s name, the Nine Spirits Sect Master already believed it three parts.

Because Yunxia Fairy’s personality had been influenced by the absorbed Demon Race Divine Ability, she liked digging caves. Back when the sect gates still stood, the Nine Spirits Sect encountered one or two seekers of the dao bearing Yunxia Fairy’s token every year.

When Xie Linlang later mentioned that the Nine Spirits technique possessed Demon Race Bloodline characteristics, the Nine Spirits Sect Master harbored no more doubts.

Only those who had truly cultivated the Nine Spirits Secret Art and personally experienced the sensation of the Bloodline Divine Ability could understand the true power and profundity of the Nine Spirits Totem Secret Art!

The backlash and berserk tendencies that came with the technique were minor issues entirely worth it and solvable.

The Nine Spirits Sect Master softened his tone. “Very well, you two are indeed re-transmitted disciples of my sect.”

Xie Linlang’s spirits lifted. He clenched his fist, his nails digging deep marks into his palm, and eagerly pressed, “How is Sect Master faring now? What formidable enemy did the sect encounter back then?”

The Nine Spirits Sect Master snorted coldly. The black snake tail impatiently slapped the ground, sending echoes booming through the underground palace. The cold, mechanical eyes on either side of the snake head brimmed with disdain and chill.

“It’s too early to speak of that now. Your cultivation is so low that you’re utterly useless.”

Xie Linlang pressed his lips together and said nothing.

Suppressing his rage to ask questions calmly was already the result of his utmost restraint. Right now, he itched to leap up and use the Lotus Root Rope to smash the black snake’s head to pieces!

Fortunately, along the way, Xie Linlang and Le Qingping had developed a bit of tacit understanding.

Le Qingping noticed Xie Linlang’s slightly trembling sleeve and quickly spoke in an extremely delicate and soft voice, “You’re right, Senior, but we went to great lengths to find this place and don’t even know how to leave. Could Senior perhaps offer some guidance?”

“Of course you cannot leave. This is a place where time and space blur together, filled with chaotic turbulence.”

At this point, the Nine Spirits Sect Master scrutinized Xie Linlang and Le Qingping. The black snake body coiled impatiently as he spoke in a chilling tone, “This old man is also very curious. With such low cultivations, how did you enter?”

After failing his Tribulation Transcendence, Xie Linlang inexplicably entered the Portable Jade Pendant carried by a Menial Disciple, becoming the trendy "portable golden finger grandpa."

Xie Linlang had originally planned to slack off, but he discovered that this disciple bore an extremely similar face to his Dao Companion Pei Ji, who had passed away over a hundred years prior.

"Could it be his reincarnation?"

Xie Linlang thought so. Thus, he bucked up and earnestly guided the disciple in his cultivation.

—Until Silent Night Palace suffered a great calamity. Before countless disciples, the Jiye Palace Lord cleaved the sea open with a single sword and stood in mid-air.

—Then, he arrived before Xie Linlang.

Pei Jiye, the Silent Night Demon Lord—whose reputation in the Demon Domain was the worst, with ruthless methods that could hush a crying child at night—had blood-red eyes. His hoarse voice carried a chilling undertone as he asked in a soft, delicate tone, "Who were you smiling at just now?"

Xie Linlang fell silent for a dozen seconds, his own eyes reddening.

"You clearly didn't die. Why did you hide from me for a century?"

The Demon Lord, who had been radiating killing intent and arrogance just moments before, immediately shrank back.

"This... there are reasons for it..."

Wonderful. You're still alive.

Ascending to immortality cannot compare to you in the mortal world.

**Disclaimers:**

1. This is my dog-blood style. I wanted to write some fun, brainless, self-indulgent stuff. Please don't nitpick logic or details—everything serves the plot.

2. The story background is traditional immortal hero progression. The protagonist Xiao Xie acts faster with his hands than his mouth, so some behaviors seem crazy. He has his own logic. Don't apply real-world thinking to the characters' ideas or plot. It's just for fun—take it or leave it.

3. The demonic cultivator disciple that the male lead Xie Linlang takes in is Pei Jiye's nephew, so they look similar. There will be body-double jealousy plots and all sorts of brainless misunderstandings. Mind readers, beware.

4. Hands-faster-than-mouth shou × equally fast-handed-and-mouthed, brain-broken gong. My style of romance—gong and shou are equals. They both have flaws, but they complement each other to become perfect and flawless.

5. Xie Linlang starts as a jade pendant and will soon reshape his immortal body.
