Chapter 78: Winter Break

Qiu Sui thought the entourage was way too excessive and suspected Shen Zhixiao had even prepared meeting gifts for his seven aunts and eight uncles. He haggled with the guy for ages before barely trimming the luggage down to three suitcases.

Late January, university students had already started trickling into their month-plus-long break, some even earlier than Qiu Sui.

His high school friends back in Stream City were all hyped in the group chat, organizing dinners or rounding up people to head back to school and catch up with old teachers.

Qiu Sui sprawled lazily on the sofa, phone in hand, bantering away with them.

Shen Zhixiao kneaded his shoulders while blatantly peeking at his screen. When he saw Qiu Sui agree to play ball with a few guys, his calm expression cracked instantly—but then he spotted Qiu Sui typing to ask if his friends minded him bringing his boyfriend along.

The moment Shen Zhixiao saw those words, he beamed with delight, thrilled at the public acknowledgment. He dipped his head smugly to nudge Qiu Sui’s forehead.

His friends in the group fired off teasing messages one after another, of course welcoming Qiu Sui’s mystery boyfriend to join them.

They’d only heard Qiu Sui mention he was dating someone—they had no clue about the guy’s secondary gender—but they all tacitly guessed it must be some stunning, petite Omega.

The only one in on the truth, Lin Kai, kept his mouth shut. Ever since he started dating Qiao Keren, every message he sent sparked a wave of jealous grumbling.

Qiu Sui set up a few holiday hangouts in the group, then switched to chatting with his mom.

In a couple days, he’d be bringing Shen Zhixiao back to Stream City as a guest. Considering it’d be inconvenient for Shen Zhixiao to stay in a hotel after traveling so far, Lady Zhuang pondered clearing out a guest room for him.

Shen Zhixiao hadn’t even gone back with him yet, but he was already nervous as a dog with his tail between his legs. Qiu Sui suspected the guy wouldn’t even dare move a muscle under his parents’ watchful eyes.

But Lady Zhuang quickly scrapped that idea. Worried Shen Zhixiao might feel awkward constantly bumping into them, she figured prepping an apartment unit in another neighborhood would be better.

Shen Zhixiao watched their chat, then leaned in to nuzzle Qiu Sui’s ear, his hot breath sending a shiver through him. A low voice followed.

“No need to trouble you, Auntie. I have a place to stay in Stream City.”

Qiu Sui’s ear itched; he shrugged slightly and blinked in confusion. “Where?”

Shen Zhixiao named the complex—not far from Qiu Sui’s home, just a couple streets over.

Qiu Shun should’ve guessed, Qiu Sui thought. The guy’s snuck over to see me so many times; of course he’d have a regular spot.

Shen Zhixiao lived in Sea City, though, so the Stream City place must sit empty most of the time.

Qiu Sui finished messaging his mom, tossed his phone aside, and flipped onto his back on the sofa to gaze up at Shen Zhixiao. He hooked a finger under the guy’s chin. “You bought a place in Stream City but hardly ever stay there. With prices tanking like this, you’re taking a huge loss.”

Shen Zhixiao chuckled at Qiu Sui’s smug look, leaning into the touch to kiss his chin. “Then I’ll stay longer over break. Make up for it.”

Like hell you will.

Qiu Sui clamped his legs around Shen Zhixiao’s wandering hand, shooting him a glare that silently screamed, That’s how you plan to recoup your losses—by screwing me?

Shen Zhixiao’s brows lifted in pleasure, and he kissed Qiu Sui’s arched eyebrow, murmuring softly, “Hubby.”

Qiu Sui had already caved to that pet name a few times these past days, letting Shen Zhixiao have his way half-heartedly. The guy had even restocked the drawer with that box from last time, always slyly pushing for more before bed.

Ever since his misdeeds came to light and Qiu Sui forgave him, Shen Zhixiao had stopped hiding that side of himself. He grew utterly obsessed with clinging to Qiu Sui—not just clingy anymore, but every touch laced with erotic intent.

In other words, he’d let the fox tail show and dropped the act!

Qiu Sui gripped that hand tight, refusing to let it slide lower even an inch. “We’re heading to my place the day after tomorrow.”

Shen Zhixiao’s eyes drooped pitifully at that, and he let out a sad little hum, nipping and kissing along Qiu Sui’s cheek.

He always lost control like this, sometimes smothering Qiu Sui’s face with rough, smashing kisses until his cheeks burned red. Qiu Sui had warned him a few times, but it never stuck.

“Once we’re in Stream City, we can’t stay together like this anymore… no sleeping side by side…” The Alpha’s voice dipped low with disappointment, his expression growing gloomier. “And then it’s long-distance after that—no seeing my baby every day. New Year’s Eve, I have to go back to the Main Residence with that annoying little brother… and endure the Susceptible Period alone…”

Qiu Sui’s heart wailed at Shen Zhixiao’s dejected look. His legs loosened just a bit, rubbing against him.

He tugged at Shen Zhixiao’s face, hovering near his own, throat bobbing as he softened. “F-Fine, do it. Just this once.”

The Alpha’s mood brightened a touch, but he pressed his nose to Qiu Sui’s, greedily whispering, “Can I go in? I won’t reach your reproductive cavity.”

Qiu Sui remembered promising “just once” last time, only to get wrecked straight into the Susceptible Period. He clenched his fist, tempted to snap, Enough already.

But Shen Zhixiao gazed up through pleading lashes, his handsome face all soft submission.

Qiu Sui stared at that flawless visage, fist unclenching. His mouth went dry as he brushed Shen Zhixiao’s thin lips, voice unsteady. “We’re going home the day after. No marks on my neck.”

The Alpha pinning him lit up instantly, all traces of gloom vanishing. He scooped Qiu Sui up off the sofa in one arm.

Qiu Sui flailed, clutching his shoulders in panic. “Put me down! I can walk!”

Shen Zhixiao eased his grip but shifted to a princess carry instead.

The position mortified Qiu Sui even more; he squirmed nonstop. Sure, he was Beta-built like a regular Alpha, and Shen Zhixiao could hoist him no problem—but thrashing around made it tough to hold. Shen Zhixiao tightened his arms and nipped his lip.

Caught off guard, Qiu Sui froze, melting into the kiss until Shen Zhixiao broke it to climb the stairs. Only then did he realize he’d been tricked.

But on the stairs, Qiu Sui didn’t dare struggle—afraid of tumbling—so he clung tight to Shen Zhixiao’s shoulders.

Lying on the bed, Qiu Sui hugged a pillow in shy embarrassment, watching Shen Zhixiao unpack the box. They’d done this plenty, but facing it sober and eye-to-eye always felt awkward.

Shen Zhixiao didn’t rush; he knelt halfway and drew Qiu Sui into a kiss, easing his tension.

Qiu Sui tilted his head into the deep kiss, tongue tangling amid wet sounds as the Alpha’s unique scent flooded him—like a hazy whiff of that green tea perfume.

Shen Zhixiao hooked his loungewear pants down while they kissed. The room’s heat meant going bare wouldn’t chill them.

Shen Zhixiao’s hands were strong, fingers long and forceful, knuckles bulging as they curved, sending electric jolts through Qiu Sui wherever they grazed.

His legs tensed rigid on the bed; scattered moans escaped into the kiss.

Shen Zhixiao caressed his flushed cheeks, thumb stroking the soft skin, then shifted to knead his ears.

Qiu Sui’s lashes fluttered, breath hitching as his fingers weakly clutched the sheets, body quivering.

Shen Zhixiao gripped his waist, panting as he murmured, “Baby… Hubby.”

Qiu Sui buried a faint sound in his throat, turning away to muffle his lips in the pillow without responding.

Shen Zhixiao licked at his lip seam—he loved Qiu Sui’s voice. At first, Qiu Sui always clamped shut, ignoring him. But later, exhausted, he couldn’t hold back.

Qiu Sui’s mind turned to mush, reactions pure instinct.

This was Shen Zhixiao’s favorite.

He pulled Qiu Sui atop him, steadying his unsteady form and cradling his nape for more kisses.

Maybe because they couldn’t cut loose like this soon—or because he’d face the Susceptible Period solo—Shen Zhixiao ramped up, pinning Qiu Sui against the headboard.

That thrust blanked Qiu Sui’s mind; he trembled, eyes wet, soul adrift.

Shen Zhixiao chuckled low by his ear, words lost on Qiu Sui amid fragmented whimpers.

He wiped sweat from Qiu Sui’s brow, kissed his neck, fingers dipping somewhere as he laughed breathlessly. “So wet.”

Qiu Sui couldn’t process it but hummed softly in subconscious agreement.

That sparked Shen Zhixiao further; he resolved to claim in advance what he’d miss soon.

Qiu Sui didn’t know how long his vision blurred before blacking out. When he woke, night had fallen.

It had been morning when he was chatting in the group!

Qiu Sui blinked dazedly, lifting a limp arm. His body buzzed like live wires—every twitch sparked numbness.

Shen Zhixiao stirred behind him, rolling him face-to-face without disturbing his rest, brushing hair from his cheek. “Hungry?”

Qiu Sui’s stomach churned emptily—he couldn’t lie. Shen Zhixiao handed over his charged phone and fetched dinner.

Qiu Sui shifted slightly and winced like during those Susceptible Period days. Whatever, he’ll handle his own next time. Let him slide.

He thought, scrolling missed messages.

Lin Kai had finished exams that afternoon and was heading to Stream City with Qiao Keren tomorrow. He’d messaged asking about northern specialties Qiu Sui might want.

The bubbly tone screamed Qiao Keren hijacking the phone—no guessing needed. Qiu Sui teased back from his pillow until Shen Zhixiao returned with food.

Qiu Sui felt half-paralyzed. Propping against the headboard triggered a memory, crumbling his resolve.

Shen Zhixiao pinned me to the headboard?!

His fists balled, but he was too wrecked to swing.

Shen Zhixiao belatedly felt guilty, tiptoeing all evening until Qiu Sui let him stay in bed. He skipped sleep to massage him.

Even so, on travel day, Qiu Sui still felt half-broken.

Their afternoon flight to Stream City landed right at dinnertime, so Lady Zhuang planned to pick them up for a family meal.

But Shen Zhixiao’s four suitcases overflowed even Qiu Dad’s spacious SUV.

The usually poised Shen Zhixiao stood tense and stiff before Lady Zhuang and Qiu Dad, fingers trembling faintly on his luggage—but his voice stayed steady. “No worries, Uncle, Auntie. I’ll have someone deliver the bags.”

The couple waited amiably as he arranged it. Zhuang Ni eyed the tall Alpha’s back appreciatively, whispering to her eldest, “Little Xiao looks even handsomer in person than on video. You didn’t just fall for his face, did you?”

Qiu Sui’s ears burned red; he jutted his chin, feigning cool detachment. “No way. It’s his personality.”

But Qiu Shun, stone-faced behind him, silently shook his head at their mom.

Lady Zhuang burst out laughing. Qiu Sui bolted to help Shen Zhixiao.
