Chapter 1

With Glory’s version update, the new season arrived right on schedule. Chu Fengyi hadn’t streamed for three weeks. His fans were threatening to unfollow if he didn’t start broadcasting again, which was one thing, but more importantly, he really couldn’t stand the constant barrage of phone calls from the platform urging him to get back online.

As it happened, his tasks were finally finished, and he had some free time. He decided to play some Ranked Mode and conveniently start a stream to fulfill his hour quota.

Before going live, he casually sent a flippant message to a streamer friend on the same platform, “Brother Slow, how about some duo queue to climb ranks tonight?”

Brother Slow’s full ID was Sound Slowly. He was a rather gentle person who never cursed while gaming. His fans called him Wolf Fang’s most gentle game streamer, but his Top Laner play was ferocious as hell, an outrageously stark contrast.

Chu Fengyi met him by chance at a platform event once. The two had good synergy when gaming, so they simply exchanged contact info and occasionally played together for performance score.

As expected, Sound Slowly’s reply was also slow and unhurried, “Finally willing to stream again? Your fans were practically throwing tantrums in my livestream room, begging for you to come back.”

“I’ll play, but I want to bring someone else in.”

Chu Fengyi didn’t object to him bringing an extra person. He knew Sound Slowly was much more popular than him and had more friends.

After going live, the livestream room was a bloody storm as expected.

[You dog of a man, you remember to come back?]

[Speechless. I’d almost wonder if you finally got beaten to death for your foul mouth. Three weeks no stream, you’ve got some nerve.]

[Husband, turn on your camera. Let me lick your face and I’ll forgive you.]

Chu Fengyi raised an eyebrow, turned on the camera, and adjusted its position. “It’s on. Stop scolding me, or I’ll end the stream.”

Sitting in the gaming chair was a tough, handsome man with a black crew cut, revealing a complete set of features that looked frankly unapproachable. Monolids made the corners of his eyes sharper, yet he carried himself with a lazy air.

As a former professional player, and now a top-tier skill streamer in the Wolf Fang esports section of the live platform after retirement, he had attracted a bunch of male fans through skill, and countless female fans through his looks. But on Wolf Fang, he was notorious for roasting his own fans.

Crossing one leg over the other, the corner of his mouth quirked up. “Angry? Open my stream and it’s me again, the man you can’t have.”

[Ahhh Husband is so handsome, tears of frustration are dripping from the corners of my mouth.]

[Such a fine man, what a pity he has a mouth attached.]

[Such a fine mouth, pity it’s attached to a man. Listen to what you’re saying, is that even human speech? Streaming for three minutes and already threatening your fans with ending the stream.]

Chu Fengyi: “Tonight, I’m pulling Brother Slow for ranked. Not hitting King Rank, not ending stream.”

As soon as he logged into the game, Sound Slowly happened to be online. An invite was sent, Sound Slowly joined instantly, and upon turning on the mic, there was that man’s gentle voice.

He was explaining to his own livestream room fans, and also speaking to Chu Fengyi, his tone exceptionally intimate. “Wait a sec, I’m pulling Yaya in.”

Chu Fengyi saw him pull in someone whose avatar was a little plant, named Yaya Can’t Win. The ID made him look like a typical esports moe girl. He opened his phone and quickly sent a message to Sound Slowly, “Girlfriend?”

This time, Sound Slowly’s reply was surprisingly brisk. “No.”

Chu Fengyi couldn’t be bothered to ask further. The game loaded rapidly. He turned on the mic and asked Sound Slowly, “Brother Slow, what are you playing?”

Sound Slowly paused. “I’ll play Marksman, is that okay?”

This actually surprised Chu Fengyi. He half-jokingly asked, “Not playing your Clash Lane anymore? Last time you told me Clash Lane was your bottom line. You abandoned that bottom line pretty fast.”

Sound Slowly chuckled good-naturedly.

Very quickly, Chu Fengyi understood why Sound Slowly gave up Clash Lane to play Marksman.

That player called Yaya picked an adorable, soft support. The two of them stuck together like glue, heading for the Farm Lane, while he was forced to auto-fill the Clash Lane, standing alone at the Fountain, speechless. “…”

Chu Fengyi hadn’t streamed for three months and wasn’t up to date on the situation, but the fans who watched Sound Slowly’s streams knew it crystal clear.

[Brother Slow is really so gentle. Every time he plays with Yaya, he plays Marksman. Is it just so he can lane with Yaya?]

[Hahaha, Bro Yi: Turns out I’m the clown myself.]

[That’s what you get for not streaming for three months, been living under a rock.]

[The Slowly Sprouting CP is real! I ship it, I ship it.]

Chu Fengyi played Jungle best, but he could fill other roles. So he simply filled the unwanted Clash lane. Three minutes later, he solo-killed the opposing Fighter. He casually dragged his minimap vision to glance at the bottom lane.

“…” Good lord.

The Marksman and Support were leisurely clearing minions in bottom lane. After clearing, they retreated under the tower. The twin-tailed little loli support tossed a small flower-shaped Heal at the Marksman. The Marksman immediately started circling her happily.

Chu Fengyi’s mouth twitched. Expressionlessly, he dragged his view back from the minimap.

One more glance and he’d dirty his eyes.

After destroying the Tier 1 Turret in the Clash Lane, he saw a small Team Fight break out in the bottom lane and hurried over to provide backup.

The enemy Jungler, bringing the Mage, came with menacing momentum, determined to score a Double Kill on the Marksman and Support and then take the Farm Lane’s Tier 1 Turret. His own team’s Jungler was taking the dragon on the top half of the map; there was no time for backup. By the time Chu Fengyi arrived, both the Marksman and Support were already critically low.

He hurriedly soaked up the damage. The cute girl riding the Fawn threw her Ultimate at the Marksman, Arrow Tome, finally pulling their HP back from the danger zone.

The enemy Jungler, Hummingbird, was a very strong Early Game hero with high Burst Damage. Chu Fengyi’s HP drained rapidly. He quickly backed into Anana’s Ultimate range, turned on his mic, and said lazily, “Good brother, give me a heal too.”

Confident that one heal from the support would save him, he was shocked when Anana didn’t react at all, and his HP just kept getting lower.

Instantly sensing something was wrong, he urged, “Healer, heal me. Give me some HP!”

The bouncing Little Deer Maiden didn’t even look back. All her Skills were dumped on the Marksman, practically overflowing. She healed the Marksman to full HP instantly. The Marksman went in, cleaned up the enemy Jungler and Mage, securing a glorious Double Kill.

Meanwhile, Chu Fengyi, who had tanked all the damage, died on the spot because the Heal hadn’t come in time.

The screen went dark.

Chu Fengyi, “…You motherfucker!”

He took a deep breath, suppressing his steadily rising blood pressure. No longer caring that Anana was Sound Slowly’s friend, he turned on his mic and cursed, “Do you just wanna stuff all your skills right down your Marksman’s throat?”

“If you’d given me even one heal, I wouldn’t have died this time. Can you not understand how to play?”

After he finished cursing, the all-chat mic fell silent.

Before Sound Slowly could say anything, he saw the Support’s mic indicator flash. Through the headphones came a boy’s timid voice, “Sorry, I didn’t react in time just now.”

It was a very crisp, soft, youthful voice. Chu Fengyi never expected the support was actually a guy and was stunned for a good while.

On the other side, Lin Linya had been happily circling around his Marksman. Being suddenly snapped at was also unexpected.

Before the game started, Sound Slowly had told him he’d be pulling in a friend. After entering the room, Lin Linya glanced at the Danmaku in his livestream room and learned that the pulled friend was also a streamer on the same platform, and a very skilled one at that.

Lin Linya had actually only started streaming recently, mostly playing some minigames. His voice was naturally quite pleasant, a fresh, youthful sound. After turning on his camera, all his fans were utterly stunned.

Who could imagine that a boy who played Fight the Landlord every day and managed to lose all his passive Happy Beans could be this good-looking?

Lin Linya wasn’t the lean type, but his features were especially delicate and attractive, leaning almost towards androgynous beauty. A pair of puppy-dog eyes was particularly endearing. His face had some fleshiness, was pale, and had a small mole on his chin. Fans affectionately called him Yaya Baby.

He had only recently started playing Glory, recommended by his fans. He didn’t understand many things yet and dared not act too rashly in front of the big shots.

The noob male college student in his twenties sat hugging his knees on his gaming chair. While selecting his character, he muttered softly to himself, “Then what should I play? I won’t get flamed for being bad, will I.”

[No, no, my baby can play whatever he wants. Who dares curse my wife.]

[Yaya Baby, play Anana. It suits Yaya Baby so perfectly, wuwuwu.]

Sound Slowly had a very gentle, princely voice. Though he’d never turned on his camera, his voice alone drew many female fans, and he often did late-night ASMR as fan service.

When someone like that asked, it was almost impossible to refuse. “Yaya, can you play Anana and protect me? I’m not really good at Marksman.”

As soon as he said this, Sound Slowly’s livestream room instantly exploded.

[I slowly type out a ?. Brother Slow, do you still remember you were once National Rank 1 Arrow Tome?]

[Today’s cold joke: The National Rank 1 Arrow Tome says he doesn’t know how to play Marksman.]

[As everyone knows, Arrow Tome and Anana are CP heroes. What ulterior motive could Slowly have, just wants to play CP heroes with Yaya Baby.]

Arrow Tome was a strong hero in older versions. Sound Slowly’s longtime fans all knew that in previous seasons centered on marksman carries, Sound Slowly played Marksman, and he was a National Server Arrow Tome. It was only because the Clash Lane was buffed in the new version that he switched over.

Now that Sound Slowly was playing Marksman again, they were all incredibly excited, feeling like their youth was restored. But hearing him say he wasn’t very good at Marksman, they were all speechless.

Lin Linya didn’t understand this either. Resting his chin in his hand, he searched for ages before finding the hero Anana. Locking it in, he only then realized Anana was a cute girl riding a Fawn.

After entering the game, he tried his auto-attack key. The little girl shot a tiny flower forward.

Lin Linya looked utterly clueless. “…This doesn’t look like a hero a macho man like me should play.”

Once in lane, he threw a tiny flower at the enemy Marksman. Discovering the enemy Marksman lost no HP, he blankly tossed a few more flowers at them. “What’s going on?”

Sound Slowly explained, a little helplessly, “Anana is a support. You have to toss the little flowers at me to heal me.”

“Oh, oh, oh, okay,” Lin Linya quickly turned around and tossed the flowers onto his own teammate.

Before long, he experienced the joy of playing support.

Didn’t need to do anything, just had to heal teammates occasionally. It was much easier than when he just started and played Solo Queue. So he simply relaxed and started goofing off, spinning in circles with the Marksman when he had nothing else to do, tossing a few little flowers at him.

When Chu Fengyi spoke, Lin Linya hadn’t reacted yet. Only when he got yelled at did he suddenly snap to the realization that he might have messed up.

He frantically controlled his character to spin around Chu Fengyi’s fallen corpse while apologizing, “Sorry, I just started playing, I’m still not very good.”

Although Lin Linya’s livestream room didn’t have a huge number of fans, they had long identified Chu Fengyi. They were all laughing and joking around. [Didn’t expect the National Server Jungler playing Clash Lane to fail because of Yaya Baby.]

[Yaya Baby playing Anana is too cute! Esports moe girl, I love it to death!]

[Bro Yi is roaring: Heal me!]

[He’s panicking, he’s panicking.]
