Chapter 2

Many of Chu Fengyi’s regular viewers from his previous streams didn’t know who this “Yaya” was, since Chu Fengyi hadn’t been live in a while.

Upon seeing Chu Fengyi’s displeasure, they couldn’t help but chime in: [That game sense though, is this for real?]

[Getting carried to this rank and then playing solo queue is just ruining the game for others.]

[But that guy’s voice is so nice to listen to, ah.]

[Ha ha ha, sisters, go check out Sound Slowly’s stream, I’m dying of laughter.]

[Just took a peek at Little Yaya Sister’s stream. I’m good now, bros. With a face that cute, being a little trash is totally forgivable.]

Reading the danmaku in his stream, Chu Fengyi raised an eyebrow. A streamer? This bad?

What kind of streamer, a food streamer? The kind where the fans watch his mechanics and call the food deliciously trash?

He also realized he’d been a bit too impulsive earlier. The past few days, some real-life issues had soured his mood, and he’d brought that into the game, making him irritable. Seeing that the one called Yaya had muted his mic again, he didn’t say anything further.

Sound Slowly’s skill was beyond question. Even with a Support who knew absolutely nothing, once he snowballed his Gold, he could tear through the enemy team. To put it in Chu Fengyi’s terms: with a Marksman as meticulous as Sound Slowly, you could leash a dog to the Bottom Lane and still win. No offense meant to the newbie.

It was still much more comfortable queuing with Sound Slowly, so they started another match. Sound Slowly, feeling a bit embarrassed about hogging the Marksman position, went to the Clash Lane instead.

Chu Fengyi saw the little Support toddling after Sound Slowly to the Clash Lane. His temple throbbed. “You going to the Clash Lane to help him plant rice?”

Sound Slowly said to Lin Linya, “Go follow the Marksman. Following me is useless; you need to protect him well.”

“Okay,” Lin Linya was obedient, immediately doing as he was told.

Chu Fengyi watched the Support trot back down to his lane and let out a cold snort.

This match, the Jungler on their team was also useless. During Hummingbird’s early game power spike, he dared to invade the enemy Jungle. After getting solo-killed, he turned his mic on to curse out his teammates for not rotating.

Chu Fengyi’s mocking tone was lazy. “You picked a squishy champ and still tried to steal Hummingbird’s buff? Did you expect them not to bash your head in? Honestly, the fact that your Red Buff area is still intact means the enemy Jungler is practicing charity.”

The Jungler was livid. “Fine! No rotation, no ganks! You just stay down there in the Bottom Lane guarding your mom’s shrine by yourself.”

Chu Fengyi frowned. He despised trash players with filthy mouths the most.

The little Support who had been tailing him suddenly stopped moving. A moment later, a line of text slowly appeared in the chat box. [Who says he’s alone? Aren’t I still here? If your eyes aren’t working, I suggest donating them.]

Truthfully, Chu Fengyi hadn’t expected this adorably clueless-looking Support to actually talk back. He could perfectly picture the guy nervously typing, trying to defend him. The words, combined with his ID, were pretty cute. He couldn’t help the corner of his mouth twitching up.

“Yeah, didn’t you see there are two of us?”

Jungler: “Pocket Duo. What’s there to be proud of?”

The enemy team gathered to invade their Jungle. After their Jungler was caught and killed a few times, he started inting to the Tower. A stellar 0/5 start. Chu Fengyi couldn’t even be bothered to pay him any mind anymore. After clearing a minion wave, he started farming the small Jungle camps to catch up.

Lin Linya followed behind his Marksman. With Chu Fengyi not engaging in fights, he had nothing to do. He weakly asked his stream, “Are we going to lose this match?”

[It’s okay, Ya. Our Jungler is already ruined. The Marksman needs Gold to carry. Just trust him.]

[Yeah, Ya just needs to focus on protecting himself.]

But the Jungler clearly didn’t want them to succeed. Seeing Chu Fengyi ignore him, he switched to /all chat. [Our Support and Marksman are a Pocket Duo couple. They’re doing the little birds in the Red Buff area. Please gank them.]

“Damn,” Chu Fengyi swore. “Moron.”

Lin Linya hadn’t yet figured out what was going on. “Why is he saying me and the Marksman are a couple?”

Chu Fengyi abandoned the half-dead jungle camp. “Move. They’re coming bot.”

The enemy team absolutely didn’t want their Marksman to scale. Early on, Chu Fengyi had played extremely safe, only clearing waves when they crashed into the Tower, leaving the enemy Jungler no opportunity to gank.

Now that they knew he wasn’t on the lane anymore, they were definitely coming for him.

Sound Slowly, in the Top Lane, suddenly warned: “The enemy is missing; they’re probably heading to the Bottom Lane to gank you two.”

Chu Fengyi was almost laughing in anger. “Screw them, they’re abandoning their towers just to get me? It’s too late for you to rotate. Just push the lane and take the turret.”

As expected, the enemy Jungler, after failing multiple ganks and even getting played by Chu Fengyi, got frustrated and decided to just tower dive. Four enemies appeared at once.

“You might as well bring your whole damn team! To gank a single little Consort Yu, isn’t this overkill?” he complained, but his hands never hesitated. He meticulously last-hit the minion wave while kiting backwards.

The next second, the fifth member of the Red team, their Mage, emerged from the Mid Lane through the Jungle.

Lin Linya heard the sound of a cup crashing to the floor and a man furiously slamming his desk. Chu Fengyi’s screen had already gone gray. He blankly asked Sound Slowly, “What happened?”

Sound Slowly stifled a laugh, coughing once. “Cough, nothing much.”

Just someone getting enraged after being 5-man ganked, that’s all.

Thanks to their pig of a Jungler feeding information, and the enemy’s mentality of “we’re losing this anyway, but we’ll make sure their Marksman never plays again,” no matter how cautious Chu Fengyi was, he was still targeted and killed a few times.

The funniest part? Bottom Lane had only just lost its Tier 1 Turret, but Sound Slowly, pushing a single wave in the Top Lane, had already broken through to the inhibitor.

Although they won the match, Chu Fengyi was extremely frustrated. “I’m done. You guys play.”

His stream’s haters immediately jumped out, mocking and stirring drama. “Streamer’s mental so weak, and he’s trash. Why play games, go Fight the Landlord instead.”

Annoyed, he directly ended his stream.

After going offline, he lit a cigarette and opened Sound Slowly’s stream to watch them play.

Sound Slowly’s stream had a Link that could jump directly to Yaya Can’t Win’s stream. Chu Fengyi was intensely curious. Knowing Sound Slowly as he did, he would absolutely never be this patient with a new player.

Holding his cigarette in one hand, eyes half-lidded, he tapped directly into that stream.

The moment he entered, he froze.

From his voice, Chu Fengyi knew he wasn’t old, but he just hadn’t expected him to look this young. The most striking thing was that face—truly, stunningly pretty. The kind of good looks you notice instantly.

In the swirling smoke, those features were, frankly, bewitching. A single smile at the camera sent the danmaku into a frenzy, scrolling like crazy.

Besides female fans, there were suggestive comments. It was obvious plenty of men were watching. The Room Mod couldn’t delete messages or ban users fast enough.

[Yaya is just too cute. His hands playing the game are so slender and pale. Wiping me out.]

[Can I smash if I carry the streamer?]

Such disgusting comments drifted brazenly across the screen—the kind of danmaku you only ever saw in pretty female streamers’ rooms. It was… novel.

Chu Fengyi took a drag of his cigarette, slowly exhaling a smoke ring. The smoke blurred his sharp features. His fingers tapped on the desktop. Involuntarily, his attention drifted along with the danmaku.

His fingers were rather slender and pale.

Lin Linya still had no idea Chu Fengyi was watching. He asked Sound Slowly, a little embarrassed, “Did I do something wrong? Why did he stop playing?”

“It’s fine, don’t mind him. We’ll play,” Sound Slowly knew Chu Fengyi—he absolutely wouldn’t quit just because of one loss. “I’ll play Marksman and help you win back that star you lost.”

“Okay!” Lin Linya brightened up instantly.

He’d only just started playing this game, so he didn’t yet know that losing ranks was normal. Losing one star per match—it broke his heart for a long time.

Sound Slowly kept him company playing Ranked Mode the whole evening.

Near midnight, while Lin Linya went to the fridge for a drink, Sound Slowly exited the game.

He was silent for a long time before speaking to his stream. “There’s something I need to tell everyone.”

His voice was gentle, naturally making people quiet down to listen. “In the future, I probably won’t be able to continue streaming. Actually, tonight is my last stream. My apologies, everyone.”

[Huh??? Why so suddenly?]

[Bro didn’t sign a contract with the platform? Just say you’re not streaming, and that’s it?]

[???? You have to give us a reason at least. You don’t treat your fans like people?]

“The contract issue with the platform has already been sorted out. The real reason I can’t stream is because of family matters. Anyway, thank you all very much for your attention these past few years.”

Lin Linya had just sat back down and caught this speech. He clutched his Cola bottle, at a loss. “What’s going on?”

Sound Slowly offered a small smile. “It’s nothing. Just that I won’t be able to play games with you anymore.”

He half-joked, “Honestly, my family has never supported me being a streamer. It’s out of my hands. But everyone, don’t worry too much. Remember when I played badly and people always told me to get a real job? Well, I’m off to do just that.”

“Alright then, no need for farewells. If anyone needs me, you can find me on Weibo. That’s it.”

Lin Linya saw his stream exploding with discussion about this. He wasn’t sure how to handle this sort of thing. He could only try to comfort everyone. “Sound Slowly must have his own considerations. Let’s respect his choice.”

He didn’t feel like playing anymore either. After exiting the game, he tried to divert everyone’s attention. “I’ll sing you guys a song. I’ll end the stream after that. What would you like to hear?”

[We love whatever Yaya Baby sings!]

A tiny dimple appeared at the corner of Lin Linya’s mouth when he smiled. “Alright, I’ll just sing something casual then.”

Lin Linya was actually quite good at singing. He often sang for everyone after gaming streams. He mostly chose quiet, soothing songs. Unlike those streams that were still noisy late into the night, many people came here and just didn’t feel like leaving.

After singing one song, he waved at the camera. “Alright, that’s the stream for today. See you tomorrow. Good night everyone.”

After the stream, Lin Linya checked his phone. There was a message from Sound Slowly—a long paragraph explaining in detail why he couldn’t continue streaming.

He thought for a moment, then replied: [No problem at all. I support you.]

The other side didn’t respond for a long time, so Lin Linya hopped off his Gaming Chair to take a shower.

When he came back, he had a towel wrapped around his head. Rubbing his dripping hair, he picked up his phone and saw the new message. He was so startled the towel fell off.

[Sound Slowly: Yaya, I want to see you in person. Can we meet up?]

On the other end, a handsome, refined-looking man nervously glanced at his phone from time to time.
