Chapter 45 Part 1: I Like You
Feng Yan took Yu Weixi to a bar, booked a private room, and let him do whatever he wanted.
The private room also had a balcony with a view of the night outside. The two of them sat at a table by the balcony, and Feng Yan ordered a few bottles of light alcohol.
“I thought you would stop me.” Yu Weixi rested his chin on his hand and took a big gulp of beer. “Something like drinking is bad for your health.”
Feng Yan smiled and shook his head. “I won’t.”
Yu Weixi lay on the table, unhappy.
Feng Yan took a light sip. “Xixi, the dead won’t come back. The living have to keep looking forward and continue to live well.”
Yu Weixi rested his head on his arm and said in a muffled voice, “Can’t he just not die…”
“Everyone has to die, and everyone has to learn to accept and face death.” Feng Yan smiled. “This is growth, a necessary path.”
“Hmph.” Yu Weixi muttered, “Old man, no conscience. If I died, you definitely wouldn’t feel anything, just like that cold-blooded Huo Li.”
Feng Yan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“Xixi, Huo Li is not necessarily not sad. It’s just that people like him don’t show all their emotions on their faces.”
Yu Weixi asked, “Then what about you? If one day I… oof.”
Feng Yan leaned over slightly and covered Yu Weixi’s mouth with his hand.
“Shh…”
Feng Yan said, “I’m not Huo Li, and I’m not the kind of business tycoon whose every little move can shake the entire industry. If I’m sad, it will naturally show on my face.”
After a pause, Feng Yan held the wine glass and raised an eyebrow. “When I like someone, it will also show on my face.”
Yu Weixi was taken aback, then turned his head to look at the stars.
“Right, I haven’t told you yet.” Yu Weixi’s emotions were unstable before, so Feng Yan couldn’t discuss business with him. Only now did he tell him, “The old senior Lu came to contact me the other day. He said he has a script that’s suitable for you and asked if you’re interested in collaborating.”
Yu Weixi was taken aback.
“Ah?”
“Mr. Lu?”
“No way. He’s a major director. Would he take a fancy to my kind of acting? Even if he personally taught me, I wouldn’t be that good. Could it be that he’s after my traffic?” Yu Weixi still had self-awareness.
“Pfft.” Feng Yan was amused and shook his head. “It’s not a big movie or a TV drama. It’s just a short film, a humanitarian promotional short film in collaboration with the United Nations. It just so happens that this character has similarities with you. What he’s after is your looks and spiritual energy.”
“Oh…” Yu Weixi pouted. “Then of course I’m willing. Who wouldn’t want to work with Mr. Lu? I’ll have my team pay attention and announce it on my birthday.”
Feng Yan nodded.
Yu Weixi’s birthday was coming up, and every year on his birthday, he would announce a series of resources, making others envious. It was also a melon that everyone paid attention to every year. If there were slightly fewer in any given year, he would be mocked by the masses.
Feng Yan thought for a moment and asked, “…How many are you announcing on your birthday?”
“I don’t know. There are nineteen so far, mostly endorsements.”
Feng Yan smiled. “Then why not make it twenty-three, which is your age this year?”
“That depends on whether I can get them. Some endorsements can’t wait that long.” Yu Weixi spread his hands. “Anyway, it’s not a small number. As long as there are a few heavyweights, it’s fine.”
It was indeed not a small number. It was hard for ordinary people to get one endorsement, let alone Yu Weixi, who had swept through dozens. To say that he was the number one top-tier celebrity who had stood firm for many years was really an understatement.
I’ll have to see if there are any other suitable resources for Yu Weixi later, Feng Yan thought to himself.
Feng Yan wanted to make it twenty-three for Yu Weixi.
“Let’s not talk about work. We came out to drink, what’s the point of talking about work.” Yu Weixi let out a drunken hiccup and clinked glasses with Feng Yan. “Let’s drink!”
Feng Yan also raised his glass.
Then, after drinking for a while, Yu Weixi sensed that he was a little drunk. He shook his head. “I’m going home.”
He didn’t want to get drunk in front of Feng Yan. After all, wasn’t the last experience enough? Yu Weixi didn’t want to be embarrassed again.
“Xixi…” Feng Yan stood up and blocked Yu Weixi. “I’ll take you back. Come on, hold on to me.”
“No.” Yu Weixi waved Feng Yan’s hand away and sniffled. “I can take a taxi back myself. I’m still very sober now.”
“Xixi, don’t make a fuss.” Although Yu Weixi was indeed still sober at this moment, Feng Yan had brought him out. How could he let Yu Weixi go back alone?
“I’m not making a fuss.”
“Xixi…”
“Let go of me!!” Yu Weixi angrily pushed Feng Yan’s hand away. “Don’t touch me!”
“…”
Yu Weixi walked out. Feng Yan helplessly chased after him and held his waist. “Don’t make a fuss!”
“I’m not!! Don’t always bother me!” Yu Weixi turned around angrily and reached out to push Feng Yan away fiercely.
However, how could Yu Weixi’s strength compare to Feng Yan’s, especially since he was drunk at this moment. So Yu Weixi’s hand pressed on Feng Yan’s chest. Not only did he not push him away, but he was also pushed back by the counterforce and fell to the ground.
Feng Yan: “…”
What kind of rabbit is this?
“You bastard…”
Yu Weixi fell and sat on the cold ground, feeling extremely wronged. So he rubbed his eyes and started to cry.
Feng Yan: “…”
Feng Yan squatted down and gently ruffled Yu Weixi’s hair. “Xixi, don’t cry…”
“I’m uncomfortable…” Yu Weixi sniffled and choked, “It’s so unfair.”
Feng Yan sighed, sat down, and patted his leg. “Come on, come up. The ground is cold.”
As early as when Yu Weixi had said he wanted to drink, Feng Yan had already expected this to happen.
The alcohol went to Yu Weixi’s head. He pouted, his face tear-streaked, and climbed up, hugging Feng Yan and sobbing softly.
“Silly Xixi… this is the last time. You’re not allowed to cry anymore. You have to move forward in the future, you know?”
“Mmm.”
Yu Weixi rested his head on Feng Yan’s shoulder and buried his face in his neck.
So warm.
“Feng Yan… I still want to drink.”
“Then drink.” Feng Yan sighed helplessly.
Yu Weixi leaned against Feng Yan and drank from the bottle again.
The more he drank, the more it went to his head. Yu Weixi was completely drunk now.
Hugging Feng Yan, Yu Weixi suddenly felt scared.
He didn’t want to be like Chu Qing, where Huo Li only found out that Chu Qing liked him after he died.
He clearly liked Feng Yan…
Although he wasn’t sure if Feng Yan really liked him, how much he liked him, if it was a whim or if he really meant it, Yu Weixi was just wronged.
He suddenly wished so much that Feng Yan also knew his feelings.
He really, really liked Feng Yan, from his youth when he was struggling to survive in the US until now.
Although it was slim, although they were not a good match, but…
Feng Yan was so good to him. Maybe…?
“What’s wrong with Xixi?”
Seeing that Yu Weixi had suddenly become quiet, Feng Yan frowned and asked, “Are you uncomfortable somewhere?”
“Feng Yan…”
“Mmm?”
Yu Weixi said in a muffled voice, “…Happy birthday.”
…
“…???”
“Little fool.” Feng Yan said helplessly, “It’s your birthday. Happy birthday, Xixi.”
Yu Weixi then said, “I like you.”
…
…
????!
Feng Yan’s eyes widened.
Wh… what?
Feng Yan thought he was dreaming.
“Xixi, are you… drunk?”
After all, he had already started talking nonsense.
Feng Yan’s heart was pounding.
He didn’t know if this was Yu Weixi’s drunken confession or just nonsense, or if he was referring to his liking for his friend, Chu Qing.
“Hmph!” Yu Weixi got angry, stood up, and pushed Feng Yan away. He stood up and was about to leave, swaying.
“Come back!” Feng Yan helplessly hugged him and supported him. “Let’s go. I’ll take you home.”
Yu Weixi hung on Feng Yan, with no strength to resist. The alcohol was messing with his mind. Yu Weixi could only curse and hum as he was carried by Feng Yan into the car.
“Smelly man, old man, dead dog B…”
“Feng Yan, eat shit…!”
“Wuwuwu…”
After a lot of trouble, he finally got him home. Only then did Feng Yan breathe a sigh of relief.
Yu Weixi had been clinging to him the whole time. Although Feng Yan was strong, it was still quite a struggle.
“Ew… Daddy is drunk again.”
He placed Yu Weixi on Niangao’s bed. Niangao climbed up, sniffed, and then pinched his nose.
“Mmm, your daddy is unhappy.”
Niangao blinked and asked, “Why is he unhappy?”
Feng Yan thought for a moment and said, “Qing-gege has gone on a trip.”
“Ah… then will he come back later?”
“He won’t.”
Niangao was immediately a little disappointed, and his eyes also turned red.
“Oh…”
Feng Yan took off Yu Weixi’s jacket, then said to Niangao, “I’ll go make you some milk, and then you can sleep with Daddy.”
“Okay!”
After settling everything, Feng Yan sat on the sofa in Yu Weixi’s home, a little lost in thought.
“I like you.”
Those four words were like a spell cast by Yu Weixi, lingering in Feng Yan’s mind, unable to be dispelled.
The life-sized body pillow that had been explained as a gift from a fan, the unexplainable Weibo side account, the excessive dependence, the willfulness that he didn’t have with others…
Feng Yan began to fantasize.
Maybe?
Maybe Yu Weixi also likes me…?
Feng Yan patted his cheeks and smiled bitterly.
When did he, a grown man, also become like a little maiden?
In any case, let’s just let nature take its course.
Whether Yu Weixi liked him or not, Feng Yan had already made up his mind to pursue him. It didn’t matter if he liked him now or not. He would like him one day.
Feng Yan had already secretly, without Yu Weixi’s consent, included him in his future and his plans for the rest of his life.
…
The next morning when he woke up, Yu Weixi groggily opened his eyes, only feeling a splitting headache and his whole body weak.
The discomfort of a hangover slowly washed over him. Yu Weixi frowned slightly and subconsciously covered his eyes to block the light coming in from the window.
“Xixi is awake?”
