……
Zhong Nian woke up on a two-meter-wide bed.
The mattress and quilt were soft and comfortable, so much so that he almost thought he was still snoring away in the rabbit hutch of the player space.
The bedroom was neither too big nor too small, with light-colored decor that looked very cozy. The curtains were drawn tightly, leaving only the dim bedside lamp lit. The humidity and temperature in the room were just right, making it an extremely suitable environment for sleep.
The clothes on his body were not the ones he had worn before entering the game; they had become a set of white linen clothes and pants, loose-fitting with thin fabric that draped nicely. Hanging on his slender shoulders, they made him look even more frail and delicate.
The oversized collar exposed his gracefully arched collarbones and neck. If he bent over just a bit more, one could even glimpse a hint of color beyond the snow-white skin.
He sat on the edge of the bed, his slightly messy hair tousled, a trace of sleepiness lingering in his brows and eyes. He resembled a small animal that had been snatched into a beast’s den in its dreams, now mustering its spirits to warily survey its surroundings with a dazed yet alert expression.
【Baby is so cute… All dazed.】
【Anyway, I can’t get into the streamer at all.】
【Feels like biting down would taste like vanilla little cake.】
【Who changed wife into this outfit? All in white, so pure but even sexier.】
【Want to splash some water on the streamer.】
【Wife’s day off is pure torment for me. Not seeing you for a day fills me with nameless fire, seeing you fills me with several times more. I’m done.】
As soon as the game started, the live stream room erupted in the usual barrage of incomprehensible or eye-searing nonsense. Since the audience hadn’t seen him for a few days of rest, they were even crazier and more enthusiastic than usual. Zhong Nian had grown somewhat accustomed to it.
He hadn’t planned to pay attention, but he had something he wanted to ask the viewers for once.
Out of courtesy, he greeted first: “Hello, everyone.”
The live stream room lagged for two seconds, then exploded with a unified “Hello, wife.”
Zhong Nian continued: “I want to ask you all about someone.”
【Blind guess: the Masked Guy.】
【? Wife rarely talks to us, and it’s for another man…】
Seeing that the live stream room had guessed it, Zhong Nian asked directly: “Have you seen him in other live streams?”
【Nope, baby.】
【Last time, he never opened his own live stream room. Can’t even follow him.】
【Maybe he hasn’t entered the game yet? Veteran players usually have longer rest periods.】
【Dead Pretender Man, all mysterious, playing hard to get, luring my wife to search everywhere for you.】
【Wife, don’t pay so much attention to him wuwu, look at other husbands, like me.】
Zhong Nian felt a bit disappointed but quickly put the Masked Guy out of his mind.
The most important thing right now was to clear the instance.
A B-level dungeon was bound to be more difficult than the last one, with an “escape” task and very little background information provided.
In this seemingly peaceful and serene environment, Zhong Nian didn’t dare relax his vigilance. He found the dagger prop that had followed him into the instance on the bed, gripped it in his hand, got out of bed, and began searching the bedroom.
Nothing particularly unusual stood out. From the furnishings, it seemed like a man’s room. He had initially thought this was the game’s assignment for the player, but the clothes hanging in the closet revealed something off.
More than half were monotonous black, white, and gray, in sizes much larger relative to him. The other small half were lighter in color and different in style—new ones, with tags still attached.
Zhong Nian randomly picked one from the new ones, checked the collar label, and held it up against himself.
The size matched his perfectly.
He then checked the bathroom in the master bedroom; there were two sets of toiletries, one of which was also new.
Zhong Nian confirmed that two people lived in this apartment, one a newcomer—and that newcomer was most likely himself.
Where had the other person gone?
With this doubt in mind, Zhong Nian carefully pushed open the master bedroom door.
He first cracked it open just a slit and peered out with his round, watery eyes.
The outside was also quiet. The living room had ample lighting, with morning sunlight slanting into the room. Fine dust particles floated around the hyacinths on the coffee table, lending a warmth to the otherwise ordinary furnishings.
