Sure enough, the System said: “This Instance suppresses it strongly.”
Zhong Nian pursed his lips: “Does it even need suppressing? It’s useless anyway.”
“Goo cheep…” The Octopus hugged his finger with teary eyes.
Zhong Nian poked it over disdainfully with one finger: “Why would I eat your tentacles? They don’t look tasty. Even made into octopus balls, they wouldn’t last a few meals… Don’t look so aggrieved. It’s already benevolent of me as your Master not to toss you out.”
“Cheep woo chirp chirp—”
The Octopus started rolling around in a tantrum again.
Zhong Nian was tired of its pitiful ploys for attention. He pushed it aside, threw off the blanket, got out of bed, and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
His bare foot hit the floor, and his pajama pants slipped down, covering several kiss marks.
Entering the bathroom, Zhong Nian prepared to brush his teeth when he noticed his swollen lips in the mirror.
He rubbed them with his hand; they felt a bit numb.
Last night, after using his hand, Mo Heng had pinned him down and kissed him for a long time, kissing until he felt dizzy.
In his haze, he experienced an indescribable sensation, and the spots hiding his ears and tail itched and heated up.
Amid that strange feeling, he passed out in a daze.
Even now, his mouth and tongue still felt stirred.
In the mirror, the youth’s face gradually reddened, his eye sockets tinged with color—unclear if from shame or annoyance.
“Goo cheep!”
The Octopus shamelessly ran in again, clinging to Zhong Nian’s leg and climbing up.
Zhong Nian’s reminiscence was interrupted. He peeled off the Octopus and set it aside, quickly finished washing up, and left the bedroom.
In the Kitchen, as expected, there was breakfast left by Mo Heng.
It was takeout in an insulated bag, but Zhong Nian had woken up too late and needed to heat it in the microwave.
Upon taking it out, he saw the portions were much larger than yesterday—healthy and abundant.
Zhong Nian picked through it and immediately shoved a whole large sweet potato aside in disgust.
He couldn’t stand anything remotely resembling the man’s size right now.
“Cheep cheep.” The Octopus, which had climbed onto the table, hugged the tumbling sweet potato and tilted its head quizzically at Zhong Nian.
“What are you looking at?” Zhong Nian, already uncomfortable, got annoyed at being stared at and tossed a cherry tomato over.
The Octopus’s tentacles wagged like a dog’s tail. It jumped up, caught the cherry tomato in its mouth with an “ahwoo,” and ate it—very agilely.
Zhong Nian paused, staring in surprise at the swallowed tomato.
The Octopus was like a translucent slime; looking closely, he could see the cherry tomato slide into its belly and turn into bubbles before vanishing.
Zhong Nian: “?”
Kinda magical.
Zhong Nian fed it a few more things to observe.
But after two or three bites, the Octopus stopped eating, pushed the plate, and coiled a fork to feed Zhong Nian instead, urging him to eat.
Zhong Nian opened his mouth and ate, flicking the Octopus’s head: “Where does the stuff you eat go?”
“Cheep cheep.”
“I see… So you don’t actually eat it, just dissolve it. Isn’t that just wasting food?”
The Octopus said very softly: “Goo lulu…”
Zhong Nian took back the fork: “No more feeding you.”
The Octopus wilted instantly, retracting its tentacles and gazing at Zhong Nian pitifully.
“You can understand it?” The System suddenly spoke, its tone laced with clear surprise.
Zhong Nian: “Yeah, can’t you?”
“…” The System fell silent.
The System controlled data for all NPCs and Props; this shouldn’t happen.
Had there been an oversight in language resource updates?
From the System’s silence, Zhong Nian understood something and mercilessly evaluated: “Bad System.”
Perhaps accustomed to being cursed as “Bad System,” “So useless,” “Really stupid,” it didn’t argue and just asked: “How do you understand it?”
“Talent, I guess. I gradually got it.” Zhong Nian lifted his little face proudly. “Us Rabbits are just very smart.”
“Mmm…” The System said no more and quietly checked its resource library for gaps.
Zhong Nian paid it no mind. After breakfast, he had the Octopus wash the dishes for him.
It was a sudden whim to try commanding it, and surprisingly, it did.
Though small-bodied, its tentacles were nimble, washing the dishes and utensils spotlessly without a single chip.
But afterward, it seemed exhausted; it didn’t even land steadily when jumping from the sink and flopped with a splat.
Zhong Nian picked it up and wiped the water from its face with his sleeve, making gooey squeaking sounds.
“You okay?”
The Octopus flopped in his arm bend: “Goo cheep.”
Zhong Nian felt a bit guilty: “If I’d known you were this weak, I wouldn’t have made you work. Hurry back to my shadow and rest.”
The Octopus lingered in his arms for a good while before reluctantly jumping into his shadow.
The room fell quiet again. Zhong Nian looked at his pajama sleeve, wet from wiping the Octopus’s face, and returned to the bedroom to change.
He picked a random set, but when undressing, he accidentally brushed against something and hissed in pain.
Biting his lip, he looked down at his front. Last night, the two tips had been pinched and rubbed in the man’s hands, changing shape and now protruding, unable to recover.
Zhong Nian didn’t even dare touch them. He glanced at the clothes he’d taken out and picked a softer, more skin-friendly one instead.
Halfway through carefully dressing, he suddenly remembered something important!
What about that Access Pass he was supposed to see?!
