Chapter 40 Part 2
Shen Wu looked up in a daze.
Qi Song realized his slip of the tongue and smiled apologetically, “I’m sorry, it’s our first time meeting. I’m Qi Song. I should be able to call you Xiao Wu, right? You look so much like your mother.”
“…I know, you can,” Shen Wu was even more astonished, not expecting the film emperor to recognize him, and not because of the trending topic or the variety show, but because of Xu Qiongya.
Qi Song smiled gently, noticed the wine glass in Shen Wu’s hand, and kindly reminded him, “This wine is very strong. Be careful not to get drunk.”
Shen Wu was not in the mood to continue drinking and couldn’t help but ask, “Do you know my mom?”
“Mm,” Qi Song said. “I learned calligraphy from Teacher Xu, your maternal grandfather, when I was a child.”
“So you’re family friends?”
Qi Song’s lips always had a faint smile, “Not really, we just knew each other as children.”
Although they were childhood sweethearts, it was not convenient for him to say those four words in front of Shen Tianheng’s son.
“No wonder,” Shen Wu did not suspect him. “I’ve never seen you at our house.”
“Mm, it’s not very convenient,” Qi Song nonchalantly skipped over this topic. “I really didn’t expect you to enter the industry. When you were very young, I had thought of taking you to film with me.”
Shen Wu’s interest was piqued, “Mm?”
“Beacon Fire of Love, you should know about it, right?”
This movie was almost a household name. Even after more than ten years, Shen Wu still remembered it vividly. “I know. I remember you won your first film emperor award with this movie.”
“That’s right,” Qi Song smiled. “I had a son in the movie. That child is also a best actor now. Actually, back then, I had originally wanted to find you to play the role.”
Shen Wu had a vague guess about Qi Song’s next words.
As expected, Qi Song said, “Qiongya was very supportive, but your dad refused.”
When he said this, a hint of an imperceptible sadness flashed in his eyes.
“By the way,” Qi Song composed himself and changed the subject again. “Are you waiting for your parents now?”
“I’m waiting for my dad. My mom is not coming,” Shen Wu took another sip of his cocktail and only said after a pause, “My mom is giving my dad the cold shoulder.”
“The cold shoulder?” Qi Song was surprised.
Xu Qiongya is actually angry at Shen Tianheng, and it’s a one-sided cold shoulder?
“Mm,” Shen Wu of course would not speak up for Shen Tianheng and stated the facts plainly, “Because my dad doesn’t think there’s any conflict between them at all. He thinks he respects my mom very much. Not only does he not apologize, but he’s also waiting for her to come to him.”
Since the mother and son had talked on New Year’s Eve, whenever Xu Qiongya was unhappy at the Shen family, she would take the initiative to tell Shen Wu.
It had only been a few days, and Shen Wu had already heard her sigh three times.
Qi Song was lost in thought and was silent for a long time. He suddenly smiled again, “Mm, I’m going to greet a few friends. I’ll come and find you later. You can eat the snacks here. Don’t go hungry.”
Shen Wu said goodbye to him.
While waiting for the banquet to start, Shen Wu and Xiang Zixu had tried all the food at the venue. Every time Xiang Zixu found something delicious, he would offer it to his boss like a treasure.
Shen Wu had wine with his food. Xiang Zixu did not notice and did not think that a colorful cocktail that looked like a drink could be so intoxicating.
Qi Song had no time to pay attention to this side. He inadvertently caught a glimpse of the late-coming Shen Tianheng.
He politely withdrew his gaze and did not dare to worry about someone else’s son anymore.
But he was extremely upset and kept thinking about what Shen Wu had said about Xu Qiongya giving Shen Tianheng the cold shoulder.
Shen Tianheng entered the venue, glanced inside, and then looked down at his watch, his brow gradually furrowing. He didn’t know if Shen Wu had arrived or hadn’t come at all.
This child was always so worrying.
He searched around with this preconceived notion. When he found Shen Wu, his attitude was not very good.
Shen Wu had just finished a glass of wine.
“When you come to this kind of place, do you only know how to eat and drink?” Shen Tianheng’s mouth had never been able to say anything good.
Shen Wu’s movements paused, and he slowly put the empty wine glass back.
Shen Tianheng took another step forward, his brow furrowed into a Sichuan character, “How much have you drunk? You reek of alcohol… Those who don’t know would think you’re some kind of drunkard.”
Xiang Zixu saw Shen Wu leaning against the wall from a distance, as if he was having a dispute with the middle-aged man in front of him.
Just now, Shen Wu had told him that he felt a little drunk. They had eaten enough, and the two of them had decided to leave. Xiang Zixu had gone to the bathroom first.
Seeing this, Xiang Zixu quickly came out of the bathroom and hurried over.
Shen Wu’s brow was furrowed, and the naturally raised corners of his lips were drooped, tight, and different from his usual lazy and relaxed look.
“Wu-ge, are you drunk?” Xiang Zixu quickly asked. This was also to tell the middle-aged man not to bicker with a drunk person.
“Shen Wu, come with me,” Shen Tianheng said in a low voice and was about to grab Shen Wu’s arm.
Shen Wu raised his hand to avoid him and vented his anger under the influence of alcohol, “…Who are you? Don’t touch me.”
“Shen Wu,” Shen Tianheng called out again in a low voice. Everyone in the family could understand this tone. It was his ultimatum.
Xiang Zixu had never seen Shen Tianheng before and took Shen Wu’s words just now seriously. He took a step forward to block him, “Sir, who are you?”
Shen Tianheng was secretly angry, “You don’t know me?”
Xiang Zixu guessed, “Are you a Miwu?” Shen Wu’s fan?
Shen Tianheng clearly knew what “Miwu” was and did not refute or question, which was considered an admission.
“Although you’re Wu-ge’s fan, do you know…” Xiang Zixu’s guard was even higher. “Stalking an idol’s private life is a very shameful sasaeng fan behavior?”
Shen Tianheng was taken aback.
Xiang Zixu continued, “Looking at your well-dressed appearance, you’re at least a manager, right… how could you do this?”
Shen Tianheng’s face turned dark.
“I’m going to take Wu-ge back now. I’m his assistant. Please be mindful of the distance between an idol and a fan. Don’t follow us.”
With that last sentence, Xiang Zixu supported Shen Wu and walked to the side, saying as he walked, “Wu-ge, I’ll call Shen Ping-ge to pick you up.”
Shen Tianheng suppressed his anger and was about to go over to reveal his identity when he first heard the words “Shen Ping” from Xiang Zixu’s mouth.
He stopped in his tracks and turned back without any reluctance.
Since this clueless assistant knew Shen Ping, then he didn’t have to worry.
Xiang Zixu supported Shen Wu and sat down on a chair in the corner. He first asked, “Ge, can you walk now? If you can, I’ll take you back.”
Shen Wu looked at him seriously but said, “I don’t have a younger brother. Don’t lie.”
Xiang Zixu: “…”
Xiang Zixu thought, alright, and flexibly switched to plan B, changing his address according to Shen Wu, “Then, Shen Wu-didi, my phone is out of battery. Can I borrow your phone to make a call? I’ll call Shen Ping-ge to pick you up.”
Shen Wu often gave his phone to Xiang Zixu for safekeeping. His actions were faster than his thoughts. After giving him the phone, he only said, “Who’s your didi… I don’t want Shen Ping.”
Xiang Zixu did not know about the discord between the brothers and thought: At least he still knows Shen Ping. That’s great.
Xiang Zixu let out a sigh of relief and found “Gege” in Shen Wu’s contact list. He clicked on it to dial, and as soon as it connected, he quickly said, “Shen Ping-ge, it’s Xiao Xiang.”
But there was no reply from the other end of the phone for a long time. He took the phone down in confusion and saw that the screen showed “Gege.” He hadn’t dialed the wrong number.
So he asked again, “Shen Ping-ge, are you there?”
A muffled and hesitant “mm” came from the receiver.
Then a low voice asked, “What’s wrong?”
The voice was a little distorted through the phone, but this slightly magnetic voice was still very pleasant and familiar.
Xiang Zixu didn’t think much of it, “Wu-ge is drunk. If it’s convenient for you, can you come and pick him up?”
After Xiang Zixu finished speaking, he was a little apprehensive.
He had seen Shen Wu drunk before, but it was the first time Shen Wu was so drunk. He also didn’t expect himself to be so weak that he couldn’t carry Shen Wu away by force.
He didn’t trust the hotel staff to help, and there were Shen Wu’s sasaeng fans at the scene, who looked to be of high social status. And Shen Wu was a public figure now. It was not good if he was photographed drunk.
Shen Ping was a reliable and responsible older brother. He had almost not thought much before he chose to ask Shen Ping for help.
And the person on the other end of the phone did not blame him and readily agreed, “Okay, where?”
Xiang Zixu gave the address, his face beaming with joy, “The top-floor banquet hall of the Intercity Hotel. Thank you, Shen Ping-ge!”
