Hearing those words right outside his door made Yu Sui jump. The cameras were probably still on.
Gritting his teeth, he stepped aside. “Get in here.”
He Baiyan glanced at the camera before stepping inside.
Yesterday’s incident had trended online because he hadn’t thought things through, so today he’d asked the production team to turn off the cameras ahead of time.
He locked the door behind him and stared intently at Yu Sui’s back.
Yu Sui had just showered too, dressed in a loose sleep robe.
As the young man headed back to bed, He Baiyan followed without a trace of restraint, heading straight for the bed himself.
“You!” Yu Sui looked up as the mattress dipped, startling him.
He Baiyan had already undone his robe.
“Are you insane?” Yu Sui put up his defenses.
“Try me and see.” He Baiyan braced his hands on the bed, eyeing him predatorily.
“Don’t say things like that!” As if he could just try something like that?
“Fine.” He Baiyan sighed. “I forgot you only just…”
“Don’t spout nonsense! Nothing happened between us!” Yu Sui cut him off.
“But you were walking a bit strangely.” He Baiyan pressed.
“That was… that…” Yu Sui was at a loss for words. “Anyway, nothing happened.”
Hearing the young man explain himself like that made He Baiyan’s mind race. Was he worried about hurting his feelings?
Or maybe he was baiting him to check.
His eyes narrowed. “Can I stay here tonight?”
“No.” Yu Sui didn’t trust him.
“Alright.” He Baiyan moved off the bed.
“You’re… just going out like that?” Yu Sui stared at his undone robe, his expression complicated.
“Anyway, you’re not keeping me here.” He Baiyan’s tone carried a hint of resentment.
“You… you can stay. But no more of that kind of thing!” Yu Sui figured the man knew he cared about his reputation and was doing this on purpose.
A shameless man really was invincible under the heavens!
A flicker of triumph passed through He Baiyan’s eyes. He knew the young man was all talk.
Yu Sui really was exhausted, so he fell asleep quickly.
He Baiyan grabbed a blanket, adjusted his robe, and lay on the sofa—but sleep was the last thing on his mind.
He thought of Shen Anliu and the others. He, who had always stood head and shoulders above the rest since childhood, had no advantages with Yu Sui.
He could only resort to this.
If the mountain wouldn’t come to him, then he’d go to the mountain.
Yu Sui felt unbearably stuffy. He frowned and opened his eyes, his body going rigid. “He Baiyan!”
He’d been too naive.
Who could have guessed the man would repeat last night’s performance?
Hearing him awake, the man paused for a moment before continuing with even more skill.
Yu Sui’s words soon grew incoherent. He couldn’t help thinking about an alpha’s talents, but wasn’t it weird to use them like this?
He didn’t have time to dwell on it before his mind went blank.
His endurance seemed even shorter this time…
Yu Sui’s expression turned sour. This absolutely wasn’t his fault—He Baiyan must have honed his skills overnight. Terrifying.
He tried to console himself, but soon sensed something was off.
His robe hung loosely, his waist pinned by strong hands.
His poor little Sui was spent, but the man planted another devoted kiss.
Yu Sui wanted to die. He struggled fiercely. “He Baiyan! You bastard!”
He yelled at the top of his lungs, no longer caring if anyone heard.
He Baiyan left a scorching kiss on his thigh. “Sui Sui, you’re so cute.”
Hearing the laughter, Yu Sui felt provoked. He thrashed wildly, his face smacking into the man’s, his arms pushing against the pillow as he sat up. “I never should have let you in! Pervert!”
He Baiyan’s breath hitched. He gripped Yu Sui’s ankle and kissed the top of his foot. “Sui Sui, what did you do with Shen Anliu today?”
He hadn’t kissed right away but had observed carefully first.
Then he’d noticed some clues.
There were no marks yesterday, but today there was a flush.
It didn’t seem like they’d gone all the way, so he wasn’t in a rush.
Yu Sui stiffened at the question. “Why are you asking? What does it have to do with you?”
“Sui Sui, you’re so biased.” He Baiyan gazed at him, looking aggrieved.
“Biased how? Get out!” Yu Sui tried to pull his leg back, but the man’s grip was too strong.
He frowned. “He Baiyan!”
The man said nothing, only tightening his hold on Yu Sui’s ankle.
He Baiyan’s hands were beautiful—long, defined bones, neatly trimmed nails smooth and even. But his fingertips weren’t soft; they carried thin calluses.
Yu Sui froze, his free foot starting to kick at him.
But soon, he didn’t dare move recklessly.
Struggling like this would only make it easier for the man.
Yu Sui glared at him furiously. “You… you…”
He Baiyan’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he stared unblinkingly.
He was brazen enough to turn on the light, making every change easy to see without straining.
Yu Sui clenched his teeth, his body trembling. He didn’t dare speak, afraid his voice would break.
Shame and anger gradually gave way to something else.
He Baiyan tugged his ankle, dragging him closer.
Yu Sui lay flat, dizzy and disoriented.
“Sui Sui.” The man’s voice was hoarse as he observed patiently and carefully. “Baby.”
Yu Sui couldn’t respond, his eyes growing hazy.
He Baiyan’s breathing grew ragged, his throat parched.
He was utterly focused.
In his mind, he marveled at human potential while imagining what it would be like with someone else.
Yu Sui turned his head away, his voice muffled in the pillow.
Hearing the stifled sounds made He Baiyan’s rationality fray.
The young man’s tensed back relaxed, his legs falling limp.
The man stared at his hand, kissed it, his gaze burning.
Before Yu Sui could react, He Baiyan leaned down to kiss his back, as if branding him.
Yu Sui jolted, trying to dodge, but his waist was held fast.
His pupils contracted. “He Baiyan!”
He Baiyan’s eyes were dark and intense, his body radiating an unyielding aura. Veins bulged on the back of his hand, sweat beading at his temple.
The pressure made it hard for Yu Sui to breathe, his heart pounding wildly.
The man kissed him devoutly, though his lashes trembled slightly.
Clearly, he wasn’t as composed as he seemed. But the calm under pressure drilled into him since childhood let He Baiyan feign control.
Yu Sui’s eyes lost focus, scalp tingling, mind blanking out as thought fled.
He watched him closely all the while. After all, He Baiyan didn’t want to be hated or make the young man unhappy. Sweat poured down his own face unheeded as he focused on driving out the shadows of others in Yu Sui’s heart—replacing them, surpassing them, becoming the one and only.
He Baiyan looked up, drawing close to his face. Seeing the teary eyes, his throat bobbed. He leaned in to kiss him.
But Yu Sui whipped his head away, clearly disgusted.
He chuckled. “How come you even despise your own?”
Seeing the mess on the man’s face filled Yu Sui with shame and fury. “You…”
“Sui Sui, we…” He Baiyan pressed against his back, their legs brushing intimately, his tone coaxing.
Yu Sui stiffened as reason returned. “No… no… I can’t!”
“You can.” He Baiyan’s voice was serious yet hoarse. He was about to combust.
Yu Sui shook his head, terror in his eyes. “I’m not… I’m actually straight. I have homophobia. I can’t.”
Seeing him soft and yielding yet still refusing, He Baiyan took his hand. “Afraid of men? But this world is full of them. As for homophobia, Sui Sui, you’re not an alpha. We can be together.”
Yu Sui’s eyes widened. “How… how did you know?”
“Your appearance and behavior had too many inconsistencies, so I had someone investigate.” He kissed Yu Sui’s fingers, not hiding it.
Yu Sui froze. “You… you’ve known all along? How much do you know?”
“Everything.” He Baiyan met his gaze. “I understand why you’d do it, but impersonating an alpha to join the company is risky. And those posts online—if they’re dug up, it’ll be trouble.”
“You…” Yu Sui’s head spun. So how long had his disguise lasted? Who else knew?
“Don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone.” Seeing his grave expression, He Baiyan reassured him.
But Yu Sui felt threatened. “Why are you telling me this? What do you want?”
He Baiyan paused. “What do you think I’d do?”
“You’re threatening me right now, aren’t you?” Yu Sui just wanted to get rid of the man at this point. He couldn’t be bothered with anything else.
“You think I’m threatening you?” He Baiyan frowned. “You think I’d use this to blackmail you into being mine? Is that the kind of person I am in your eyes?”
“Isn’t that exactly what you’ve been doing?” Yu Sui saw that he was acting aggrieved now, which only fueled his anger further.
He wasn’t the aggrieved one here.
He Baiyan sat up and looked at him. “Isn’t this just our intimate play?”
“Intimate play? What intimate play?” Yu Sui sat up too, his face full of shock. Who the hell had been playing intimate games with him?
Seeing that Yu Sui’s expression didn’t look feigned at all, He Baiyan started to panic. “You have absolutely no interest in me?”
“Who would have any interest in you? I hate Alphas!” Yu Sui yanked the blanket over himself.
“But you don’t reject me.” He Baiyan refused to believe it.
“It’s just a normal reaction, that’s all.” Yu Sui added.
“No…” He Baiyan shook his head. “So you never had any interest in me from the beginning? What about them? No interest there either? Didn’t you want everyone to be your dog?”
A barrage of questions left Yu Sui stunned. “What the hell are you rambling about? When did I ever say I wanted you all to be my dogs?”
“So…”
“You’re the one overthinking everything!”
He Baiyan’s expression darkened. “But…”
He still wouldn’t believe it. He kept bringing up example after example.
As Yu Sui heard the explanations behind all those actions, he fell silent, utterly speechless.
“Overactive imagination is a sickness.”
He Baiyan pressed his lips together tightly and said nothing. He kept his head lowered.
All this time, He Baiyan’s judgment had been spot-on, accurate at least eighty or ninety percent of the time. Yet now Yu Sui was telling him that when it came to this, he’d scored a big fat zero.
He’d been nothing but presumptuous. He’d read way too much into everything, but the other man had no interest in him whatsoever.
He thought back to all the asshole things he’d done.
He Baiyan’s brows furrowed. Then he slapped himself across the face. “Sui Sui, I’m sorry.”
“Just get out already.” Yu Sui eyed the red palm print on the man’s face and felt a shiver of unease. Whether this was all an act or not, he just wanted him gone.
“I’ve wronged you. Everything I’ve done has crossed the line.” He Baiyan sank deep into self-reproach and guilt. “How could I have just walked away like that? I’m the one who’s gone too far! Go ahead—hit me, yell at me, anything. Please, just punish me.”
