Biluo Sect had always enjoyed eternal spring-like weather in all four seasons, but now it snowed day and night. The heavy snow blanketed the verdant Cuishan Forest and buried the black altar. The entire sect fell silent in the snow, as if it had finally gained a moment of peace and fallen into a deep slumber after long exhaustion.
In a quiet small courtyard of Biluo Sect, Lu Yun Ting awoke from his slumber.
“Yunting Lord is awake!” Li Hanzhao exclaimed in surprise.
Wei Luoheng and Linglan quickly gathered around. The three exchanged glances, seemingly unsure of how to speak.
It was Lu Yun Ting who spoke first.
“How long has it been?” His tone was unexpectedly calm, but his question made everyone’s hearts sink.
How long has it been? Lu Yun Ting hadn’t finished his sentence, but everyone knew he was asking how long it had been since Xun Ji had exploded and perished.
“One day and one night,” Wei Luoheng said. “That day, you suffered too great a shock and nearly suffered Qi Deviation. Fortunately, Biluo Sect used the Sound Cultivation Thread-Pulling Meridian Guiding Method to heal you and saved your life.”
“Thank you.” Lu Yun Ting thanked Linglan. Linglan frowned, however. His current calm demeanor was worlds apart from his out-of-control state in front of the altar that day.
“Although your original body has a generations-long grudge against our Biluo Sect, Jiyang Zhenren did us a great favor,” Linglan probed. “He perished to help our Biluo Sect. Since you are his disciple, there can be… between us…”
“He didn’t die,” Lu Yun Ting said calmly. “I am returning to Du Xian Sect. Once I finish what I must do, if Biluo Sect wants revenge, come and claim it.”
“Yunting Lord…” Li Hanzhao wanted to say more but held back.
Lu Yun Ting guessed what they were thinking. He had no intention of explaining and simply said concisely, “I am going to retrieve the Reincarnation Cauldron.”
At his words, the three looked even more peculiar. In the end, Li Hanzhao spoke. “Yunting Lord, while you were unconscious, we thought of the Reincarnation Cauldron and intended to go to Du Xian Sect to fetch it. But… a major event occurred in the Cultivation World. Du Xian Sect is absolutely impossible to return to.”
Lu Yun Ting turned to him. His dark pupils were still as water, without a ripple. “What happened?”
Li Hanzhao swallowed.
“The Passing Immortal Bridge… collapsed.”
A thousand years ago, the true dragon’s corpse bones transformed into the Passing Immortal Bridge and fell at Du Xian Sect’s mountain gate. From that moment, Du Xian Sect rose from an obscure little sect to the number one sect in the Cultivation World. Over the millennium, the mountain gate grew grander day by day. Except for the ever-barren Duansxue Peak, all other peaks and halls were ancient, majestic, and solemnly imposing.
But today, Du Xian Sect was in chaos. All because the foundation of Du Xian Sect—or rather, the foundation of the entire Cultivation World—the Passing Immortal Bridge, had collapsed.
“Yulan Zhenren, this barrier on your Passing Immortal Bridge, I think it was made of paper!”
In Du Xian Sect’s Pingxu Peak, inside the Sect Leader’s Grand Hall, Qiong Jin Zhenren paced and roared in fury. “How could it shatter after just a couple of rams from that bone dragon?!”
“In the face of true dragon power, what barrier isn’t paper?” Yulan Zhenren’s face was deathly pale from prolonged spiritual power consumption, and his tone no longer held its former composure. “As for your Heguang Sect, you said you had already sent word to dispatch reinforcements. Why haven’t we seen anyone yet?”
Grandmaster Zhan Xu of Baochan Temple helplessly interrupted the two. “Amitabha. This is not the time for arguments. Yulan Zhenren, you should think of a countermeasure quickly.”
“Grandmaster Zhan Xu is right,” Perfected Guan Yu said, sweat beading on his forehead. “Fortunately, though the Passing Immortal Bridge’s barrier is broken, Du Xian Sect’s Mountain-Protecting Grand Formation is still trapping this evil dragon. If it escapes, the consequences would be unimaginable.”
Outside the hall, Du Xian Sect disciples deployed their Sword Formation in unison to reinforce the Mountain-Protecting Grand Formation. In the sky above Pingxu Peak, a bone dragon with ghastly white bones circled restlessly, a fresh red heart embedded in its chest. It occasionally rammed the Mountain Protection Array, unleashing earth-shaking pressure.
“How long can the Mountain-Protecting Grand Formation hold it?” Yulan Zhenren said gravely. “The only course now is to have Tian Yan Sect, experts in formations, reactivate the Dragon-Slaying Grand Array to subdue this bone dragon and rebuild the Passing Immortal Bridge.”
“The Dra-Dragon-Slaying Grand Array?” Perfected Guan Yu exclaimed in shock. “That was the formation used a thousand years ago to besiege the true dragon. It required ten thousand cultivators to power it with their lives. Right now, it’s just dragon bones fused with the Dragon Heart, temporarily out of control. Is it really that serious?”
“Temporarily out of control? You all really know nothing,” Qi Xia Fairy laughed loudly. “Why did the Passing Immortal Bridge collapse? Why did it fully fuse into a bone dragon with the Dragon Heart? It’s because the Emotion Vein Restriction inside him was completely unsealed! He remembered how cruelly we treated him back then. He’s here for revenge!”
“Shut your mouth!” Yulan Zhenren shouted sharply. “Why didn’t Biluo Sect regenerate him as agreed?! Qi Xia Fairy, I thought you of all people would understand why Du Xian Sect did this. Everything was for…”
