Chapter 65: Dongting Part 1

King Mu had no time to attend to other matters. He even abandoned Sa Luan, released Demonic Fire, and enveloped the Qingyu Golden Chalice that was about to completely vanish.

The White Deer carried Zhen Yue as it flew toward the Qingyu Golden Chalice. The moment the ancient talisman adhered to the Glazed Bottle, a resounding shock echoed simultaneously in the skies above the Heavenly Demon Palace and Dongting Lake. The Qingyu Golden Chalice inside the Heavenly Demon Palace vanished completely. High in the sky over Dongting Lake, the peerless magic treasure manifested and was successfully claimed by Zhen Yue.

From the distant horizon, a spear wreathed in black light whistled through, piercing the long sky and dark clouds, hurtling straight toward Zhen Yue!

“Watch out!” Mu Qingshan shapeshifted into human form mid-air and drew his bow in a backhand motion. Zhen Yue was already prepared. The Cyan Wolf and Hulü Guang were swept toward the lakeshore. The Cyan Wolf swatted Hulü Guang’s cheek with a paw and barked, “Wake up!”

Hulü Guang jolted awake and roared, “Where is Lord Xiao?!”

The lake water rose even faster. Baoyin said, “The current is too fierce! I can’t hold onto him!”

They were swept by the waves onto the shore. Wu Yingzong leaped over in a few bounds and shouted, “Where are Master and Lord Xiao?!”

“I don’t know!” Baoyin replied. “We weren’t grouped with your master.”

Wu Yingzong: “I saw A Huang! What happened to A Huang?”

Ever since the lake surface had undergone its abnormal change, Wu Yingzong had climbed to the top of the inn. He had witnessed the Demonic Phoenix burst forth, and now the lake water coalesced into massive waves once more. This time, the surges blotted out the sky and earth. After the Gun Demon emerged from the water, their power was no longer mere “wind and waves”—they crashed toward the shore like avalanches and tsunamis. Everyone shouted as the waves hurled them into the shoreline woods.

“Go back to the inn and get the weapon Chaosheng made for you!” Baoyin shouted at last. “It’s on the bed!”

“What?” Wu Yingzong leaped onto a tree to evade the first massive wave and asked blankly.

“The clothes-drying pole!” Baoyin said. “Chaosheng made it for you! It contains his Green Branch!”

Wu Yingzong instantly understood. The two most important people in his life had been dragged into the lake depths. He had to rescue Xiang Xian and Chaosheng immediately, even if it cost him his life.

Mu Qingshan and the Cyan Wolf each carried Zhen Yue and Hulü Guang into the air, dodging the monstrous waves. Everyone cried out, scattering in all directions.

The Giant Ape swiftly climbed onto Yuezhou’s walls, frightening countless residents into fleeing. Chaosheng activated the Mountains and Rivers Sheji Map and shouted, “That staff! I made it for you!”

Wu Yingzong shook out the Qi Mei Stick and guarded in front of Chaosheng.

Water-element True Power gathered to dispel the massive waves overhead, condensing them into an ice wall several li long to block the surging lake water.
