Shen Boheng got straight to the point as always, never keeping anyone in suspense: “Mr. Jiang, I ran a DNA match between the young master and Nono. The results confirm a biological parent-child relationship, proving that the young master is Nono’s biological father.”
Perhaps subconsciously believing Nono was Fu Yanli’s child, Jiang Shunnian wasn’t particularly surprised by the result. But he was thrilled for Nono.
After his rebirth, he’d always wanted to find Nono’s other father, but he had no leads and zero progress.
A parenting variety show had let Qin Huan discover Nono early, but it had also led Shen Boheng to them.
But now that he had the results? Jiang Shunnian froze up for a moment before asking, “So, can Young Master Fu accept Nono?”
Elite families always cared about matching status, and he was just an entertainer they might look down on.
Though Shen Boheng had mentioned Fu Yanli was devoted and had been searching for him, he didn’t know about Nono yet.
Having a child meant shouldering more responsibility, and Jiang Shunnian felt a pang of regret. He’d thought too simply before—he shouldn’t force this burden onto Fu Yanli.
Shen Boheng replied, “That’s exactly what I wanted to discuss with you. The young master is away on a business trip right now. I’d like to share the news of our little young master Nono with Madam first. Is that alright?”
Jiang Shunnian grew anxious again. “Will Madam accept Nono? Will she look down on his background?”
“Rest assured, Mr. Jiang.” Shen Boheng said, “I’ve worked for the Fu Family for twenty-five years and know Madam’s character well. She’s incredibly kind-hearted and has no prejudices against anyone. You wouldn’t know, but she’s been urging the young master to find a partner—man or woman, status irrelevant—just so someone could keep him company, lest he reach thirty still alone. But the young master refused every time, all to search for you, and Madam always indulged him.”
Hearing this eased Jiang Shunnian’s worries. This Madam sounded wonderful.
“Alright then, okay.” Jiang Shunnian agreed.
With Jiang Shunnian’s confirmation, Shen Boheng hung up and headed straight to the flower room to find Shen Lingyi.
“Madam, sorry to disturb you. There’s something I need to report.”
Shen Lingyi was tending to the vibrant Juliet Roses when she smiled and said, “What’s wrong, Boheng? Something up?”
Shen Boheng handed her the paternity report with an apologetic look, explaining as he did: “I’m very sorry, I took the liberty of running a paternity test between the young master and a child. This is the result. It started when I saw a little boy on Baby Travel Plan whose features resembled the young master as a child, and his eyes were that unique Fu Family deep gold. I watched it over and over, couldn’t shake the suspicion, so I privately contacted the child’s father—it’s Jiang Shunnian, the one the young master has been searching for. The boy is named Jiang Yunnuo. After talking with him, I grew even more certain Nono was the young master’s child, so I did the test. The results confirm it. Madam, I’m deeply sorry for overstepping. I’m willing to accept any punishment.”
Shen Lingyi was so shocked that the clippers slipped from her hand, but Shen Boheng, prepared, caught them and set them aside.
“You say Yanli has a child?” Shen Lingyi exclaimed, equal parts shocked and delighted. She snatched the report and scanned it, nearly fainting from joy at the 99.9999% parent-child probability on the final page. “This is wonderful! Yanli has a child! But whose child is he? What’s the story here?”
“I haven’t pried into the details. Mr. Jiang might be willing to tell you himself,” Shen Boheng answered.
Shen Lingyi nodded eagerly. “Right, you’re spot on. I remember that Jiang Shunnian—Yanli was smitten with him before, but gave up when he learned about the child. I even teased him about it… Wait, so this is Yanli’s child? Oh my god, this is unbelievable! Boheng, you did great. I can’t deal with your punishment now—there’ll be a big reward later. I’m off to tell Old Fu this good news! Oh, right—do you have photos of the child? I need to see!”
“You can watch Baby Travel Plan, Madam. Little Young Master Nono is incredibly smart and adorable, just like the young master, with a wonderful personality.” Shen Boheng handed her the tablet he’d prepared.
Shen Lingyi grinned from ear to ear, looking decades younger. Clutching the report and tablet, she ran off to find Fu Shizhang.
Fu Shizhang had poured his energy into the Fu Corporation during its transformation in his youth, leaving his health worn down from overwork. He’d handed the company to Fu Yanli early and was now resting at home. He was sipping tea in the sunlit tea hall when Shen Lingyi burst in. Surprised, he asked, “What’s going on, Lingyi?”
“Shizhang, great news—Yanli has a son!” Shen Lingyi shoved the report at him and opened the variety show clip.
Shen Boheng had already downloaded and edited the video—it started right with Nono’s scenes.
The boy’s exquisite, beautiful features and brows so like Fu Yanli’s instantly melted Shen Lingyi’s heart.
This is my precious grandson! No doubt about it.
Fu Shizhang finished the report and was about to share his joy when he saw his wife utterly absorbed in the video, ignoring him completely.
Helpless, Fu Shizhang leaned over to watch—and found himself completely captivated too.
After finishing the video, Shen Lingyi’s affection for Nono maxed out. She could hardly wait to meet him.
She summoned Shen Boheng. “Boheng, I want to meet Shunnian and Nono. Can you contact him? Also, we need to redo a room as a children’s space, and think of a proper welcome gift for Shunnian.”
Shen Boheng agreed to everything, contacting Jiang Shunnian first. They set the meeting for ten the next morning.
Lunch naturally followed.
Jiang Shunnian chatted briefly with Shen Lingyi. Her voice was gentle; she asked nothing, only saying, “Thank you for raising Nono. Don’t worry—we Fu Family will embrace him fully. We’ll talk details in person. Shunnian, no pressure at all, okay? We accept every circumstance.”
Those words dispelled Jiang Shunnian’s unease, filling him with anticipation.
The Fu Family might be trustworthy after all.
Nono’s so wonderful—it proves his other genetic father is a good man too.
So, meeting tomorrow? This’ll be awkward.
Jiang Shunnian scratched his head.
But before then, he needed to tell Nono the truth.
Nono was playing with the educational toy Shen Boheng had given him. Seeing his dad emerge, he beamed. “Daddy!”
Jiang Shunnian asked, “Nono, got time now? Daddy wants to talk.”
Nono immediately set down the toy, putting on a serious face. “Daddy, I have time.”
Jiang Shunnian couldn’t help scooping Nono into his arms.
Time flies. In a blink, Nono’s gone from tiny bundle to a three-year-old toddler.
“Nono, I never told you about your mommy because I gave birth to you. It’s so rare, that’s why I kept it from you. I’m sorry—I brought you into the world without your permission.” Jiang Shunnian spoke slowly, giving Nono time to process.
Nono pondered, then addressed the end first. “No, Daddy! I’m thrilled to be your baby! I super love you!”
Then he glanced at Jiang Shunnian’s belly. “So when I was tiny, I lived in your tummy?”
With his broad knowledge, Nono knew babies grew in mommies’ bellies, not picked up off the street.
“Yes, and you were so good back then, never troubling Daddy.” Jiang Shunnian smiled. “Thank you, Nono.”
“Daddy, can I see your tummy?”
Jiang Shunnian lifted his shirt, revealing a faint C-section scar on his lower abdomen—barely noticeable unless you looked closely.
But Nono’s sharp eyes spotted it. He pointed. “Daddy, did I come out from here?”
“Yes.”
Nono gently touched the scar. His eyes suddenly reddened, tears plopping down. Jiang Shunnian hurried to soothe him, fearing the scar scared him. But Nono threw himself into his arms, sobbing, “Sorry, Daddy. It must’ve hurt so much back then. It was my fault.”
Jiang Shunnian hugged his son tightly, tears flowing too. “No, Nono—you’re Daddy’s little angel. I’ve never regretted having you.”
“Don’t cry, Daddy.” Nono wiped Jiang Shunnian’s tears.
Jiang Shunnian kissed his cheek. “Nono, tomorrow we’re going to Grandma’s house. We’ll meet your other daddy too.”
He was sure no one could resist such a sweet, adorable child.
Shen Boheng’s fondness for Nono had been plain to see.
Nono nodded, utterly calm, even reassuring Jiang Shunnian. “Don’t be nervous, Daddy. Nono’s here.”
Jiang Shunnian laughed through his tears.
At the manor, they’d bustled all day cleaning inside and out. Shen Lingyi personally shopped for essentials. Only that evening did Shen Boheng remind her: Should they tell the young master? Her head spinning from busyness, Shen Lingyi remembered her son on the trip.
She thought it over. “Not yet. We’ll tell him after meeting Shunnian and Nono tomorrow. Serves him right for vexing me before.”
Shen Boheng suppressed a smile. “Understood, Madam. The young master won’t hear a thing before tomorrow.”
Thinking of meeting her adorable grandson tomorrow fueled Shen Lingyi’s energy anew.
Far away in G City on business, Fu Yanli suddenly sneezed for no reason.
He figured it was his mother missing him, so he called. She hung up without a word—and no explanation in the next five minutes.
Fu Yanli: “…”
