Chapter 40: President Fu’s Stunning Appearance (Part 1)

Jiang Shunnian had a nightmare.

He dreamed he fell into the deep sea, targeted by a giant octopus. Its tentacles wrapped around him—the more he struggled, the tighter they coiled. Before he could figure out how to escape, a cute little pink octopus appeared, all squishy and adorable, stretching out its translucent pink tentacles to wrap around him too.

Jiang Shunnian jolted awake, entangled by two octopuses. He opened his eyes, breathing heavily. The room was still pitch dark; dawn hadn’t broken yet.

The faint nightlight allowed him to make out Nono sprawled on top of him, arms splayed wide like little tentacles clutching his arm, as if terrified of being pushed to the foot of the bed.

Meanwhile, a warm arm draped over his nape and another around his waist. Someone pressed tightly against his side, radiating endless heat—the source of that giant octopus in his dream, no doubt.

Jiang Shunnian nearly laughed in exasperation. He didn’t need to guess; it was Fu Yanli who had scooted over in his sleep, forcing Nono onto him until the boy ended up on his chest.

Unwilling to wake Nono, Jiang Shunnian reached out and pinched Fu Yanli somewhere on his body.

The feel was pretty good—abs, maybe? He couldn’t resist pinching again.

Fu Yanli let out a muffled grunt and woke up. “Shunnian?”

His voice was still husky with sleep.

Jiang Shunnian whispered, “Look what you’ve done. You squeezed Nono right onto me.”

Only then did Fu Yanli notice Nono on Jiang Shunnian. He couldn’t hold back a chuckle, got up, and gently lifted Nono off, placing him on Jiang Shunnian’s left side.

Jiang Shunnian said, “……Put him in the middle.”

“No way.” Fu Yanli’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “What if he ends up on you again?”

Jiang Shunnian huffed softly. “He should sleep on you.”

He suddenly recalled Fu Yanli’s full, firm pecs and joked, “Nono never had breast milk as a baby. Maybe sleeping on you could make up for what he missed.”

Fu Yanli pictured it and was utterly thunderstruck.

Jiang Shunnian covered his mouth, stifling a laugh.

But the next second, Fu Yanli yanked him over, burying his face right in those pecs.

“Let go!” Jiang Shunnian struggled.

Fu Yanli murmured in his ear, “Nono can’t, but you can.”

“No thanks.” Jiang Shunnian could barely breathe and reached to pinch his waist again.

That woke up little President Fu completely.

Jiang Shunnian froze stiff.

The familiar hardness—he could still recall how it had tormented him.

No more messing around. He begged, “I’m still sleepy. Let me sleep.”

Fu Yanli sighed. When the hell can I finally have him?

When Nono woke, he was thrilled to find himself nowhere near the foot of the bed. Pouting, he planted a kiss on Jiang Shunnian’s cheek and snuggled into his arms, acting all spoiled.

After breakfast, Jiang Shunnian had to leave. He held the fragrant, soft Nono, reluctant to let go, but work called. In the end, he planted a deep kiss on the boy’s chubby cheek.

As he stood to go, Fu Yanli stood by Nono, blocking the way and angling for a goodbye kiss.

Jiang Shunnian found Fu Yanli adorable. Holding back a smile, he tiptoed up and pecked his cheek.

Fortunately, he’d be back in a week to shoot the ad with Nono.

Filming on set had gone smoothly. Ji Linyue and Mo Zhen both had connections, so there were few last-minute script changes—any that came were just to tweak the plot for the better.

Soon, the ad shoot day arrived. Jiang Shunnian and Nono arrived early at the location.

It was in S City, home to the daily essentials brand’s headquarters.

The brand manager was young, dressed in smart casual business attire. He greeted Jiang Shunnian with a smile and a handshake, then solemnly and warmly shook Nono’s hand. “President Nuo, I’m Yu Luocheng. Call me Little Yu.”

It was obvious he’d watched Nono’s live stream.

President Nuo was such a cute title.

Nono shook back politely. “President Yu, thrilled to work with you. Here’s to a smooth collaboration and mutual growth.”

Not bad—he’d picked up business lingo hanging around Fu Yanli these past few days.

Though the words were seasoned, Nono’s charm made them even more appealing.

Yu Luocheng took an instant liking to him and smiled. “Great—auspicious words bring good fortune.”

After the pleasantries, they entered the company building.

Jiang Shunnian basked in the joy of effortless winning once more.

He and Nono had reviewed the ad script and lines ahead of time. Capitalizing on Nono’s beloved little genius image, it featured cozy bath-time shots plus a brainiac version where Nono recited the body wash formula and explained key ingredients’ benefits.

The lines were lengthy, but a cinch for Nono.

After a quick wardrobe change, they shot the first scene.

In a supermarket, a young dad pushed a cart with his adorable son inside, smiling as he asked, “Nono, you’re out of body wash. Want the same brand again?”

They rolled up to the body wash aisle. Nono pointed. “Daddy, this body wash is baby-friendly. Its surfactants are super gentle, no skin irritation. The camellia oil extract moisturizes effectively, and it’s tear-free…”

Nono spoke clearly, enunciating perfectly with a hint of soft baby voice. Even dull formula talk sounded delightful.

It passed almost in one take.

They insured it with two more.

Yu Luocheng beamed, throwing heart hands nonstop. “As expected of President Nuo. Our product’s gonna explode.”

Next, the second scene: Nono stripped bare in a little tub full of bubbles. Jiang Shunnian sat on a low stool, washing him.

Nono’s skin was flawless—fair, tender, perfectly cared for by Jiang Shunnian, neither chubby nor skinny. Sitting there with a pure, cute smile, his eyes brimmed with adoration for Jiang Shunnian. “Daddy, I can wash myself!”

He scrubbed with his little arms—utterly adorable. As Jiang Shunnian soaped his back, Nono sweetly said, “Daddy, I love you. Let me wash you too.”

The scene was effortless, pure genuine emotion, no acting required.

The footage came out stunning.

After wrapping, Jiang Shunnian rinsed Nono clean, dried him, blow-dried his hair, and cuddled him close, wrapping him in his own jacket to ward off chills.

Yu Luocheng gushed, “Teacher Jiang, President Nuo, it’s an honor. The results are phenomenal. We’ll push it across all platforms—it’s bound to kill.”

“Mm, hope your product sells out.” Jiang Shunnian smiled with well-wishes.

The shoot wrapped in half a day instead of one. They added stills for splash screens. By then, it was noon.

Yu Luocheng insisted on lunch; they accepted.

He picked a serene spot with flavors tailored to Nono.

His fondness wasn’t lip service—he even asked for Nono’s autograph.

Nono’s signature had matured—no more stiff block letters, now elegant running script with subtle flourishes, showing real foundation.

It wowed Yu Luocheng again. He sighed to Jiang Shunnian, “Teacher Jiang, I can’t imagine how happy you must be with a kid like President Nuo.”

Jiang Shunnian was truly happy.

After lunch, he bid Yu Luocheng farewell and took Nono to Fu Family Manor.

Since Nono started school, Shen Lingyi and Fu Shizhang had moved back in. Nono stayed weekends.

The moment she saw him, Shen Lingyi scooped him up joyfully. “Grandma missed you so much! How’d the ad shoot go?”

“Smooth as can be, Grandma.” Nono kissed her cheek. “I missed you too.”

Fu Shizhang coughed lightly nearby. High-EQ Nono reached out at once. “Grandpa, I missed you! Uncle Yu praised my handwriting today—all thanks to you. Teach me more?”

A few words, and the once-tycoon Fu Corporation chairman was grinning ear to ear.

Shen Lingyi smiled, asking Jiang Shunnian about work hardships and fun set stories.

Jiang Shunnian enjoyed her company and answered everything.

“Your job’s perfect. I watched your old dramas—you’re amazing, had me in tears.” She beamed. “You’re such a driven kid. Any troubles, tell me. Not just for Nono—we all adore you. If Yanli hadn’t won you over, I’d adopt you as my godson.”

Jiang Shunnian felt the Fu Family’s genuine warmth and cherished it, truly respecting her as an elder. “Thanks, Aunt. I know. And I’m not unmoved by Yanli—we just don’t match in status yet, plus I’m public-facing. I want to achieve something first before going public. Then I can call you Mom.”

Like Fu Yanli, Shen Lingyi adored his honesty. Her eyes welled up; she pulled him into a hug, patting his back. “Good boy, I’m thrilled. I’ll wait—and pack you a huge red envelope.”

Jiang Shunnian leaned gently against her, soaking in maternal love.

After a moment, she recalled her torments from young Fu Yanli and whispered advice. “Don’t tell Yanli about our chat. Take your time vetting him—don’t say yes easy. Make him chase you.”

Mother and son clearly had deep-seated history. Jiang Shunnian nodded with a smile. “Got it, I’ll follow your lead.”

Soon, the body wash ad dropped. As Yu Luocheng predicted, it exploded—sold out in half an hour.

Nono’s massive fanbase plus top-quality product? Unstoppable. A body wash selling out was unheard of.

Netizens raved at the first scene: [As expected of Nono the Great King ads—somehow the knowledge slid right into my brain. First time I’m curious about body wash ingredients.]

[Yep, Nono the Great King nails ads. I actually enjoyed academic lines! AAH.]

The second scene sent them into frenzy.

[AAAAH Nono’s fragrant squishy little body—too cute!!!]

[That gaze at Jiang Shunnian melted me. Which way do I grovel for a kid like Nono?]

[Jiang Shunnian must’ve saved the world last life.]

Jiang Shunnian’s fans partied too. In simple white loungewear, he exuded total housewife vibes—irresistible. Their comments turned steamy: [Want a wife like Jiang Shunnian—what quals do I need?]

[I’d give everything to marry Jiang Shunnian!]

The ad’s success spotlighted Nono’s commercial clout. Zhao Yuanzhou and Pei Qingyi’s phones blew up. But Nono had no entertainment ambitions—studies first, finance his passion. He’d teamed with Atticus and Lu Yunchuan on futures already.

Jiang Shunnian’s foundation and lipstick ads locked in, contracts signed, shooting soon for Christmas and New Year drops.

After Nono’s tip-off, Fu Yanli surveilled the suspect and caught him colluding with Qin Family. His son got shipped abroad to a top school.

Fu Yanli uncovered the plot: leak Fu Corporation’s upcoming product to Qin. They’d patent first, quietly launch a day early, then smear Fu for infringement post-Qin release.

Vicious business warfare. If successful, even if Fu Yanli exposed the leak, Qin would hold the patent, and Fu Corporation would drown in scandal. A two-birds-one-stone masterstroke.

But would Fu Yanli let Qin Guanting have his way? Of course not.

He called Jiang Shunnian ahead of time and told him about the Qin Family stealing patented technology, but reassured him there was no need to worry—everything was under control.

After spending so much time with Jiang Shunnian, Fu Yanli had picked up some of his habits. In the past, he never would have shared information prematurely, but now he was afraid Jiang Shunnian would worry.

And Jiang Shunnian did worry. Fu Yanli was up against this world’s protagonist, after all. Sure, he was the protagonist’s father, but Jiang Shunnian still feared the world’s will might cause him to lose.

But I have to believe in him, he told himself. Since we’ve decided to fight ‘fate,’ there’s no room for hesitation or retreat.

So Jiang Shunnian replied, “Yanli, I believe you’ll succeed. No matter the obstacles, we’ll face them together.”

“Good,” Fu Yanli said softly. “Together.”

As the Qin Group’s new product launch drew near, Jiang Shunnian didn’t grow too tense. He continued filming as usual.

His acting improved with every take. Lin Yusong raved that he’d brought Su Yuqing to life, and they even scheduled their next collaboration.

But he never expected Qin Guanyue—perhaps feeling victory was in the bag—to show up on the Spring Scenery of Mountains and Rivers set.
