Chapter 63: Meow
Lin Meili came to Planet Meow a few years earlier than Chestnut.
On the night the Cat God came to pick it up, Mom held its lifeless body, shedding big tears, and mumbling nonsense: “Sorry… Meili… sorry…”
Why say sorry?
Mom was very, very good to it, and very, very good to its babies.
Although she accidentally lost a baby, it never blamed Mom.
Both humans and cats make mistakes. Love gives enough tolerance to mistakes.
It hoped Mom could stop dwelling on that matter. In human terms, “the one who tied the bell must untie it.” It needed to know the whereabouts of that lost baby.
It asked the Cat God who brought it to Planet Meow. The Cat God waved its paw, and a Tortoiseshell cat with only one ear curled up in the arms of a beautiful woman. A man sat beside them, reaching out from time to time to scratch the Tortoiseshell cat’s chin.
“Mimi is coming to stay for a short time this weekend. Let’s go out and buy another cat teaser stick later. The last one was chewed up by Chestnut.”
“Okay, but I feel Mimi likes pouncing on Chestnut’s tail the most.”
“Natural cat fur teaser stick.”
“Meow~”
The chatty kitten heard someone calling its name and meowed in response.
The next second, two palms stroked its body gently, and a comfortable purring sound came from its throat.
Lin Meili watched this scene in a daze.
It was its lost Tortoiseshell kitten baby.
Although it didn’t know why only one ear was left, it had a new home, a new human Papa and human Mama, living very happily.
While feeling heartache, it completely relaxed.
A cat’s life is not always smooth. Every cat has its own path to walk. As long as the final result is good, the cat life is satisfied.
The only thing it couldn’t let go of was Mom.
It really wanted to tell Mom that the lost baby was doing well, so she shouldn’t worry or feel guilty anymore.
But the Cat God said Planet Meow couldn’t disrupt the order of Earth, and it couldn’t tell its Mom about this, but it would try to find a way.
It wasn’t an unreasonable cat and didn’t want to make things difficult for the Cat God, so it could only watch from afar on Planet Meow.
Time passed bit by bit like this. It met some familiar cats on Planet Meow.
There was the pedigree cat from the second owner’s home, with a not-so-good personality but very beautiful. It touched tails with it and said sorry. It was a very territorial cat and didn’t like other cats intruding into its home.
It didn’t mind and understood, saying it was okay. It found its own home later too.
There was the handsome male cat who spent the heat period with it while wandering after being abandoned by the third owner. The male cat came to Planet Meow even earlier than it. It wandered without a fixed place all its life, without even a name.
It thought for a moment and named him “Xiao Shuai” (Little Handsome). Handsome and beautiful were both words of praise.
Xiao Shuai liked clinging to it, chewing its tail fur, and watching the current situation of its Mom and babies with it.
After all, those were their babies too.
After it died, Mom continued to live with the remaining four kittens, taking care of them extremely well.
To extend the babies’ lifespan, avoid some diseases, and keep them from being troubled by heat periods, Mom neutered all four babies.
This worried it a bit. Mom never looked for a human partner, and the babies couldn’t leave little kittens to accompany her like it did. In the future, when the four babies came to Planet Meow one after another, Mom would be alone again.
But it had no way on Planet Meow’s side.
“Don’t worry,” Xiao Shuai rubbed against it with his head. “Fate isn’t determined by blood. Maybe she will meet other cats, people, or other animals to accompany her in the future.”
Both it and Mom knew this very well.
It felt slightly better in its heart.
Time passed quickly. In a blink of an eye, it was two years ago, and its lost Tortoiseshell kitten baby was also brought to Planet Meow by the Cat God.
That day, it actually went to the entrance of Planet Meow with Xiao Shuai to pick her up.
But she didn’t remember it anymore, not even the memory of being in Lin Pan’er’s home. A cat’s memory isn’t that good, let alone during kittenhood.
It thought about it and didn’t acknowledge her directly with Xiao Shuai.
Sometimes blood relation counts for nothing.
It was afraid that even if they acknowledged each other, they would still be stranger cats, so it was better not to start with blood relation.
Moreover, she already had human Papa and human Mama who loved her very much. One pair of parents was enough.
So, it got to know her as a stranger cat with Xiao Shuai and became friends.
They learned about how she lost her ear, feeling heartache and anger.
They learned about her experience of being taken back from the adoption center and given the nice name Chestnut, genuinely happy for her.
They became family on Planet Meow in another way.
Thought it would go on like this forever, didn’t expect to encounter such an opportunity to confess and acknowledge each other.
…
“Chestnut, this is your cat dad.”
Xiao Shuai—a cat with tabby patterns all over without a single bit of white—also licked Chestnut’s little ear after hearing this.
Chestnut was completely stunned.
The CP (couple) she shipped after coming to Planet Meow turned out to be her biological parents!!
They often curled up on a cloud, tails swaying, sometimes overlapping, sometimes forming a heart shape.
They often groomed each other, shared delicious cat food, and brought a portion for her.
They would do parkour on the clouds together, always in pairs.
…
Sometimes she thought: It’s a pity Planet Meow can’t have babies; otherwise, they would definitely have many cute kitten babies.
Unexpectedly…
She was their baby!!
Lin Meili: “We recognized you long ago, but you seemed to have no memory of your childhood. Sorry for not finding a suitable opportunity to confess our identities to you.”
Chestnut indeed had no memory of her kittenhood, only remembering her first home was that pet blogger’s home.
No way, a kitten’s brain capacity is too small. Maybe there was panic, fear, sadness, and confusion when leaving, but with age, she didn’t remember those emotions anymore.
That person treated her well at first, always playing with her. At that time, she was still young, at a clingy age. Later, when she grew up a bit, she became more independent and didn’t meow so much.
But that person always tried to make her meow, filming her with the camera. To make her meow, he even shocked her with electricity, achieving the goal through stinging pain.
Later, she became more and more timid and cowardly, always liking to hide in various corners of the home. That person was even more dissatisfied and started abusing her vengefully.
He also had a good friend who often came to drink at home. The two always talked loudly about something, with the word “cat.”
Sometimes when they drank too much, they would vomit at home.
She hated that smell and would hide every time.
Once the man got drunk and delirious, grabbing her roughly from under the sofa. Because of her struggle, the wine bottle fell to the ground. The man picked up the broken wine bottle directly and threw it at her.
The wine bottle was too sharp, slicing one of her ears bloody directly. She screamed in pain.
Because of this scream, the man sobered up a bit and didn’t lay hands on her again.
Afterwards, the man abandoned her in a strange and remote place under the cover of darkness and left.
Her ear was still injured. She had no experience of wandering since birth, dragging her painful body living alone as a cat for a while, raising herself very poorly.
The wound on the ear wasn’t treated, became inflamed, and got worse, even affecting the hearing of that ear.
Later, people from the rescue station took her back and treated her wound, but the injury was irreversible, and she lost that ear forever.
Fortunately, because of the lost ear, she met the most important human Papa and human Mama in her cat life and had a warm home.
Every time she meowed, Mom and Dad would respond to her happily.
She became that chatty kitten again.
Later, she met the Scottish Fold kitten Mimi.
She smelled a familiar scent on Mimi, very faint, but it didn’t escape her cat nose.
It was the scent of that friend who often went to that man’s house to drink.
Although that friend didn’t do anything to her, every time he looked at her, it made her feel very uncomfortable.
Plus, the kitten Mimi had some subconscious clumsy habits of pleasing and timidity, so she easily accepted this kitten suspected of having similar experiences with her.
She groomed Mimi, shared cat food and toys with Mimi, and slept snuggled with Mimi…
They became very good kitten friends.
Not every kitten is lucky. For unlucky kittens like them, they have to go through many hardships and work very hard to find their destined parents.
And now, looking at the two cats with gentle eyes in front of her.
She had a pair of cat dad and cat mom again.
“Dad, Mom.”
Chestnut pounced straight at them.
Her cat life was completely fulfilled.
…
Hospital, in the ward.
Lin Pan’er exchanged phones with Shen Luo and Shen Ziyuan.
Lin Pan’er’s phone had photos and videos of Chestnut when she was little, as well as photos and videos of Lin Meili and other four kitten babies. Although not many, it was already a surprise.
So the pattern on Chestnut’s other ear was like this.
Especially beautiful.
Shen Luo and Shen Ziyuan’s phones were full of photos of the one-eared Chestnut. Lin Pan’er watched with heartache and joy.
It could be seen that Chestnut lived very happily in the new home; photos and videos were good evidence.
Jing Mimi also sat on Papa’s lap, watching the videos in the “Shovel Officer Qizi” account on his phone, his little brows furrowing tighter and tighter.
He could feel that Sister Chestnut was unhappy in some later videos.
Just like the kitten Mimi who was still called “Little Gold” back then.
It turned out Sister Chestnut also had similar experiences to the kitten Mimi.
“What’s wrong, Mimi?” Jing Zhi noticed the abnormality of the little cub in his arms.
“Papa,” Jing Mimi looked up after hearing this, “let’s avenge Sister Chestnut, okay?”
His little fist was already clenched tight.
Mimi was very angry.
Jing Zhi was stunned for a moment, subconsciously exchanged a glance with Jiang Suifeng sitting next to him, and replied without hesitation: “Okay, leave it to Papa.”
Although they hadn’t fully figured out the situation yet, they also felt this blogger was a bit strange.
Especially in some recent videos, the beautiful Ragdoll cat’s eyes looked a bit abnormal. Although beautiful and cute according to human aesthetics, it wasn’t necessarily a sign of health.
In the comment section, a few people also questioned: whether pupil dilation drugs were used on the cat.
Scrolling down a few more videos, they found a collaboration with another pet blogger.
Another blogger took a dog to this blogger’s home and recorded a vlog of the cat and dog meeting. Obviously, the cat was a bit afraid of the dog. The dog was well-behaved, leashed, and didn’t approach the cat proactively. But the dog owner deliberately led the dog towards it, claiming—exchanging scents, getting familiar.
The cat’s fur stood on end out of fear. It reached out its paw pad and patted the dog quickly, then dodged away quickly.
The dog received a slap inexplicably and had no temper, standing there blankly, a bit comical.
Outside the video, the two bloggers laughed out loud together, and the bullet screen was also full of “Hahahahahahaha.”
Jing Mimi’s breath hitched suddenly, shivering uncontrollably.
Not long after, the voice of the man holding the dog sounded: “I used to raise a cat too, much more obedient than yours.”
Jing Mimi’s heart rate got faster and faster, and his body started trembling.
