Chapter 68: Meow
Jing Mimi shrank into the corner of the box. A soft white mass, like a milky marshmallow, quickly pressed against him.
Jing Mimi quickly reached out his small hand to push it away.
Unexpectedly, his palm was licked by a small pink tongue again.
Jing Mimi felt even more devastated.
After his hand was retracted, the little white fur ball finally successfully burrowed into his arms, its little tail wagging back and forth, emitting a coquettish whining sound from its throat.
Jing Mimi looked like life had lost its meaning.
Out of the corner of his eye, four heads surrounded the top of the box, each occupying a corner, looking at him.
“Papa…” Jing Mimi struggled against the puppy in his arms while seeking outside help with an aggrieved voice.
Jing Zhi spoke first: “Mimi is awesome, not afraid of puppies anymore.”
Jiang Suifeng followed up instantly: “Too amazing, just a puppy, nothing to worry about.”
Shen Ziyuan also said: “If a dog bullies Papa in the future, Mimi can protect Papa.”
Wang Qiuqiu didn’t speak, just carefully observing Jing Mimi’s reaction.
Amidst the praises, Jing Mimi couldn’t hold out again. Meeting the grape-like eyes of the white fur ball in his arms, he blinked and finally reached a slight reconciliation.
Although he didn’t like dogs, with Papa around, he still had the confidence to face them.
When he was the kitten Mimi, wearing a harness and taken out for a walk by Papa, he would extend his little paws and use meow-meow punches to drive away dogs trying to get close to him and Papa.
Mimi wasn’t a timid kitten.
It was just that after becoming a little human, without agility and sharp claws, he didn’t quite know how to deal with dogs.
Plus, the sense of security given by Papa was too sufficient. People appear weak due to dependence. Because someone was always protecting and supporting him from behind, he subconsciously hid in Papa’s shelter.
Now, this little puppy in front of him…
Was nothing special.
Jing Mimi mustered up the courage to pick it up from his arms.
The puppy’s tail hung down naturally, still wagging cheerfully, obediently held by Jing Mimi under its front paws without struggling or resisting.
Such a small puppy was indeed nothing to be afraid of, unlike Big Black, a dog bigger than his human form.
But not being afraid of puppies was one thing; liking puppies was another.
Jing Mimi still didn’t like dogs.
After being lifted out of the box by Papa, Jing Mimi immediately put the puppy on the ground, ignoring its tail-wagging and coquettish behavior.
Because of the experience in the box, the puppy clung to Jing Mimi even more, becoming his little tail, following him wherever he went.
Because of Papa’s warning, Jing Mimi didn’t climb onto any boxes anymore. First for safety reasons, second because some boxes contained valuable items, and it wouldn’t be good if they were crushed.
To avoid the puppy, Jing Mimi took Wang Qiuqiu’s small hand and went to the balcony, closing the transparent sliding door of the balcony.
The balcony was also enclosed, with windows closed properly, so it wasn’t cold.
The puppy was shut on the other side of the transparent sliding door, looking at the two eagerly. After turning around a few times fruitlessly, it scratched the door with its little paws and whined twice anxiously.
Jing Mimi remained unmoved, holding Wang Qiuqiu’s small hand and exhaling a breath.
There was a large rattan rocking chair on the balcony, and the two little cubs sat on it together.
The adults ignored them and sped up packing.
After moving large and small boxes and bags downstairs and loading them onto the moving truck, the puppy had fallen asleep in front of the sliding door, like a cloud that had landed at home, soft and fluffy.
Jing Mimi also leaned against Wang Qiuqiu and dozed off.
Wang Qiuqiu wasn’t sleepy, just staring down in a daze.
Seeing this, Jing Zhi smiled, took out his phone, and recorded this scene.
The foreground was the sleeping white puppy, and the background was the two little cubs leaning together.
Many years later, the grown-up Jing Mimi looked at this photo and fell into deep thought for a long time.
A dog sleeping separated by a door, and he fell asleep leaning against another dog.
…
Jing Mimi was woken up by the sound of the door opening.
Soon, Papa’s voice sounded in front of him: “Mimi, Qiuqiu, packed up, we can leave here now.”
Jing Mimi rubbed his eyes groggily, subconsciously looking for the puppy, but found nothing, waking up instantly.
Wang Qiuqiu’s voice sounded at the right time: “The puppy was put into the air carrier.”
Following Wang Qiuqiu’s gaze, Jing Mimi saw a white figure in a familiar air carrier in the corner of the living room.
The air carrier used to belong to Sister Chestnut.
When the kitten Mimi came here as a guest, the air carrier was always left open in the corner. Occasionally, he and Sister Chestnut would crawl in and out.
Sister Chestnut’s nest had already been slept in by the puppy. Now seeing it stay in the air carrier, Jing Mimi had no emotions.
He knew that small animals put into air carriers meant they were going to be taken away.
Jing Zhi: “Later, let’s take the puppy to the rescue station together.”
Jing Mimi hummed, took Wang Qiuqiu’s small hand, and got off the rattan chair together.
After packing up, it was almost lunch time.
Shen Ziyuan followed the moving truck to the new house first. He had to come back in the afternoon to check out and treat them to dinner in the evening.
Jing Zhi and Jiang Suifeng planned to take Mimi and Qiuqiu around here, grab a bite for lunch, send the puppy to the rescue station, and meet up with Shen Ziyuan in the evening.
Just as they were about to leave, Jing Mimi suddenly stopped, ran da da da to the sofa, bent down, reached out his small hand, and dug for a long time.
The Cat God’s voice continued in his head: “Yes, right there, almost reached it. Stuck there, need a little force.”
Finally, Jing Mimi pulled out an old mouse toy with a feather tail from under the sofa, covered in dust.
Shen Ziyuan had already left. Now only his papas and a little human turned from a puppy were left. The Cat God didn’t hesitate to let Jing Mimi reach for the toy the kitten Chestnut accidentally got under the sofa.
This wasn’t the kitten Chestnut’s wish, but something she had always cared about.
Although she didn’t make a wish, the Cat God still helped out.
After all, missing this time, there would be no chance again.
Jiang Suifeng took Jing Mimi to the bathroom to wash his hands. Jing Zhi cleaned the mouse toy, took a photo, and sent it to Shen Ziyuan, saying it was found under the sofa.
Shen Ziyuan replied with a voice message, his voice a bit choked.
“This is the toy brought back together when we took Chestnut from the rescue station. One day it suddenly disappeared. Ah Luo and I bought an identical new one for her, but she didn’t like playing with it much. She always liked to crawl under the sofa and come out after a while. Ah Luo and I didn’t think too much, just thought cats like to crawl under sofas to play. Maybe at that time, she wanted to dig out this toy stuck under the sofa…”
“Many things, even if they look exactly the same, are different. The first one is always more important.”
“Please bring this over tonight. Ah Luo and I want to keep it as a memento.”
…
Planet Meow.
Chestnut stared at the mouse toy on the cloud TV and said: “Every kitten taken from the rescue station can take a toy from there. The sofa at home was a bit old and irregular, with very small space underneath. The toy got stuck, and I couldn’t get it out for a long time.”
Although Mom and Dad bought her a new mouse toy later, it was just different from the previous one. Without the teeth marks she gnawed, without the smell of her and Mom and Dad, it couldn’t compare to the first one anywhere.
Not long after, Lin Meili and Xiao Shuai made a new mouse toy with a feather tail for Chestnut on Planet Meow together.
Chestnut treasured it very much, running around Planet Meow with the mouse toy in her mouth every day.
This was her first mouse toy on Planet Meow.
Also made by her cat dad and cat mom.
The meaning was also very different.
…
Is the first one more important?
Wang Qiuqiu held Jing Mimi’s small hand, watching him frequently look at the puppy in the air carrier.
If Mimi wasn’t so afraid of dogs now, then this little white dog was the first dog to change Mimi’s perception of dogs. In Mimi’s heart, it was also the most important dog.
Wang Qiuqiu suddenly felt a bit unbalanced.
In his heart, Mimi was the most special and important kitten. For Mimi, he could return the kitten reserved in the cattery without hesitation.
Conversely, he also hoped he was the most important dog in Mimi’s heart.
But he didn’t have full confidence to confess his identity as a puppy directly.
Wang Qiuqiu’s brain spun fast, suddenly thought of something, and reached his small hand into the air carrier.
The white puppy immediately stuck out its little tongue happily and licked Wang Qiuqiu’s finger. Wang Qiuqiu took the opportunity to put his finger into its mouth.
Puppy paws weren’t as flexible as humans’, so they were more accustomed to using their mouths to assist, gently biting human hands to play.
Now, this action looked very much like the puppy bit him.
Jiang Suifeng holding the air carrier reacted first, hurriedly lifting the air carrier high, checking Wang Qiuqiu’s finger, and felt relieved finding no wound.
Actually, the puppy had a good personality and looked healthy. It was also young. It was only dying when first picked up because it was frozen in the snow for too long and hungry. Now warm and full, it was lively and active, no need to worry too much.
Unexpectedly, the next second Wang Qiuqiu said to Jing Mimi: “Mimi, I was bitten by a dog, got rabies, and turned into a dog.”
“Woof!”
Jing Mimi: “?!” Scared.
