Chapter 71: Meow
The chocolate Jing Mimi was holding fell to the ground with a splat. He stood up quickly and snatched the empty chocolate wrapper from Wang Qiuqiu’s hand.
As a little cub just turned from a puppy, Wang Qiuqiu also liked sweets quite a bit. While Jing Mimi was talking to the little girl, he had already finished the chocolate in a few bites.
He was no longer a puppy who couldn’t eat chocolate; he was now a little human who could, so naturally, there was no need to worry.
But… he just lied to Mimi that he was bitten by a dog and turned into a dog…
Wang Qiuqiu suddenly felt like he couldn’t explain himself. He could only let Jing Mimi snatch the chocolate wrapper from his hand and pry open his mouth with small hands to check his oral cavity.
Unfortunately, the chocolate had long been eaten into his stomach and couldn’t be retrieved.
Jing Mimi’s eyes were filled with undisguised worry and panic.
Brother Qiuqiu has already eaten the chocolate… will Brother Qiuqiu die?
He didn’t want Brother Qiuqiu to die.
Jing Mimi pouted, and his eyes rimmed with wet red.
Fortunately, Jing Zhi and Jiang Suifeng had been paying attention to the children’s interaction. Seeing this, they bent down directly to coax Jing Mimi, saying: “Don’t worry, Qiuqiu will be fine. He is different from ordinary dogs.”
Wang Qiuqiu also echoed: “I am a police dog.”
Jing Zhi and Jiang Suifeng smiled helplessly.
They all knew Wang Qiuqiu’s dream—to become a sketch artist and catch bad guys. It belonged to the category of police, which translated to police dog for a dog.
Moreover, Qiuqiu thought he was a German Shepherd, and German Shepherds were indeed a common breed among police dogs.
Jing Mimi blinked away the mist in his eyes skeptically.
He knew police officers were more powerful than ordinary people. Correspondingly, police dogs should also be more powerful than ordinary dogs. Since Papa and Brother Qiuqiu both said so, it should really be okay…
The little girl and her mother: “?”
Seeing this, Jing Zhi changed the subject: “Finished the noodles, time to go. Where do you live? We can help you take the dog back. The air carrier belongs to a friend; have to bring it to him later.”
If they were just strange men, the woman would decline their offer to go home with her, looking for a box nearby to carry the puppy back, or using a plastic bag temporarily at worst. But seeing two cute children with them, looking like a very natural and healthy parent-child relationship that couldn’t be faked, the woman didn’t refuse.
They lived right in the community. They came downstairs to eat noodles together at noon and had finished eating.
The group took the puppy to the new home together.
On the way, Jing Mimi held Wang Qiuqiu’s small hand tightly, observing his condition carefully, afraid that after eating chocolate, he would fall to the ground and die with a splat in the next second.
Fortunately, what he worried about didn’t happen. Wang Qiuqiu was in good condition, just inevitably sleepy after lunch.
Jing Mimi was the same, yawning twice.
The little girl’s home was in a building very close to the main gate. They didn’t go in to disturb, leaving the puppy and taking the air carrier away.
Before leaving, the little girl gave them some snacks as thanks for the puppy.
Among them, Jing Mimi picked out all the chocolates, daring not let Wang Qiuqiu eat them again.
Wang Qiuqiu noticed his small action and didn’t say anything. Mimi was doing it for his own good; he only felt warm in his heart.
Back in the car, while the two in the front seat were fastening their seatbelts, Jing Mimi suddenly remembered that Wang Qiuqiu said he had a secret to tell him just now and asked about it.
Wang Qiuqiu said: “Tell you later.”
How long this “later” was, Wang Qiuqiu didn’t give an exact time. Jing Mimi waited with curiosity.
Soon, the car started and drove towards the Shen family’s new house.
Jing Mimi sat in the comfortable back seat. The heating in the car was strong, and the afternoon drowsiness gradually wrapped him completely.
Different from ordinary naps, after closing his eyes, he felt his body become a bit strange, and the surrounding environment also changed.
Not as ethereal as a dream, but exceptionally real.
Jing Mimi opened his eyes again and found that his little human body had turned back into a kitten’s body. His tail was long, standing behind him, small ears folded forward, whiskers trembling gently with the meow: “Meow~”
This wasn’t his first time dreaming of turning back into the Scottish Fold kitten form, so he wasn’t surprised and adapted well.
The kitten stretched familiarly, the tip of his tail trembling comfortably, and subconsciously looked for his papas.
In the kitten Mimi’s dream, Papa was an indispensable existence.
Surroundings were soft clouds identical to Planet Meow. Paws landing on them would leave shallow paw-shaped pits, recovering in a moment.
Did I dream that Papa came to Planet Meow with me?
He wanted to find Papa and take Papa to see Sister Chestnut!
The kitten ran quickly, tail held high, leaving two rows of cute plum blossom paw prints, but didn’t find Papa.
Not long after, he found a strange cloud.
It was a cloud that could “move.”
Carefully following him, approaching him.
The size of the cloud was much larger than him, but not as big as his papas.
The kitten Mimi stopped gradually in confusion, examining the cloud vigilantly. Knowing it was a dream, not reality, he didn’t feel scared.
Suddenly, a voice sounded from the cloud: “Woof.”
The kitten Mimi: “?!!”
Why is there a dog in my dream?!
He really wanted to wake up from this terrible dream, but didn’t know how.
The kitten Mimi tucked his tail, observing the cloud emitting “woof” sounds warily.
After experiencing all sorts of things during this time, he wasn’t as afraid of dogs as before. Although Papa wasn’t around, this was his dream, his territory; he had the confidence to drive away the intruding dog.
Seeing being discovered, a pair of pointed dog ears peeked out carefully from the woof-woof cloud.
The outer contour of the dog ears was black, with a circle of yellow soft fur inside, and faint pink at the root of the ear.
Such big ears…
Much, much bigger than the kitten Mimi’s folded ears.
It was a very large dog.
Actually, he could tell it was a big dog from the size of the cloud, but didn’t expect just the ears to be so big.
However, the kitten Mimi didn’t show fear.
This was his dream; he wanted to defend his territory and drive away the intruding dog.
Before the dog ears could react, the kitten Mimi prepared and rushed over.
Sharp claws passed through the light cloud, a meow-meow punch giving the dog hiding underneath a big slap on the nose.
“Woof ow!”
It was a cry of pain.
Because of this commotion, the soft clouds wrapped around it dispersed, revealing its true face.
The kitten Mimi had landed steadily, but his pupils constricted slightly due to surprise.
He recognized this kind of dog.
It was an adult German Shepherd.
He had seen it in Auntie Wu Yuan’s phone.
Mumu would look like this when grown up.
A kitten paw print was left on the dog’s nose. After meeting eyes, the big dog head rested on the ground, looking at the kitten in front of it aggrievedly.
This was a gesture of trust and also a gesture of goodwill.
In comparison, the kitten was too small. Curled up, he was probably about the size of the dog’s head.
The kitten Mimi tucked his little tail, staring at it for a moment. Seeing the other party wasn’t aggressive, he boldly—turned around.
The next second, small paws scratched the clouds on the ground quickly, wanting to bury it in the clouds.
Clusters of small clouds scratched up by kitten paws fell on the dog in a parabolic trajectory. Wonder when it would be completely buried.
…
Wang Qiuqiu had decided to confess his identity to Mimi, but he hadn’t thought of the words to say, worried he couldn’t explain clearly or Mimi couldn’t accept it.
This was a secret only the two of them could share, not to be known by a third person, so he could only work hard to solve it himself.
Just now while eating noodles in the noodle shop, the Dog God’s voice suddenly sounded in his head.
The Dog God said: “Qiuqiu, the Cat God and I have an idea.”
Wang Qiuqiu chewed the food in his mouth calmly and replied in his mind: “What?”
The Dog God: “Let you in puppy form and Mimi in kitten form meet.”
The Dog God: “This way, you don’t need to explain so painstakingly.”
Wang Qiuqiu agreed readily without thinking.
First, because this would indeed save a lot of trouble, explaining more clearly than verbal narration. Second, because he really wanted to see Mimi in kitten form and snuggle with him.
As for how to meet—now they were both little humans and couldn’t turn back into small animals, so they could only meet through dreams, dreams that wouldn’t affect reality and wouldn’t be disturbed by others.
So, after falling asleep one after another in the car, they came here together, a small world created specially for them by the Cat God and the Dog God.
To not scare Mimi, the puppy Qiuqiu specially rolled in the clouds a few times, wrapping himself in puppy form completely with clouds, approaching the Scottish Fold kitten slowly in this gentle way.
Unexpectedly…
Attacked by kitten paws, and then buried like poop by the kitten.
Pat, a paw-sized cloud fell on the dog nose.
Pat, a paw-sized cloud fell on the dog head.
Pat, a paw-sized cloud fell on the dog paw.
…
Finally, the German Shepherd stood up, deciding to stop all this and have a good talk with the kitten Mimi. He shook his fur, shaking off all the clusters of small clouds on his body.
The kitten scratching clouds froze, his cat eyes full of hopeless disbelief, and his fur stood on end.
Like a tall block tower built with difficulty, easily pushed down by someone reaching out.
The kitten Mimi exploded with anger.
“Meow!”
The kitten Mimi catapulted, gave it several more meow-meow punches, and finally bit its nose with an “ah-woo.”
The puppy Qiuqiu: “…”
