Chapter 46: Is Being a Pretty Boy Something to Be Proud Of?
Red Devil quickly got up. Surprisingly, he did not continue the fight this time. He got up and ran away.
Romeo was puzzled by his behavior. He asked Wen En, “Should we go after him?”
“No,” Wen En said, helping Xiaoli up from the ground. “It could be a trap, or an ambush. In any case, it’s not that simple. We should try to avoid conflict and leave this place.”
Romeo nodded in agreement.
With Red Devil gone, the three of them continued to look for a way out. They had only taken a few steps when the two pit bulls appeared from somewhere and wagged their tails at them enthusiastically.
“We didn’t see you when we were fighting just now, but now that it’s safe, you know to come out,” Wen En tapped the pit bulls on the head.
“Woof,” the pit bulls replied, their tongues hanging out.
“Are we really going to take them with us?” Romeo looked at Xiaoli, then at the two stupid dogs. These dead weights were so annoying.
“It’s better to have two more helpers than none,” Wen En said.
“Are you sure these two idiots can be your helpers?!” Romeo glanced at one of the dogs. The dog’s saliva was dripping from its hanging tongue onto its paws. It didn’t look very intelligent.
“Don’t worry,” Wen En smiled and stroked the golden hair on Romeo’s head. “I have experience raising dogs. It’s not difficult for me to handle these two.”
…For some reason, Romeo touched his head and thought, Why are you stroking my head? I’m not some yellow hunting dog that needs to be petted.
In a dark corner not far away, Red Devil stood in the shadow of a container, like a snake coiled in the dark, staring at his prey with a sinister gaze.
He saw Wen En and his group, talking and laughing, looking very relaxed, a completely different atmosphere from when Red Devil was in front of them.
Red Devil gritted his teeth in hatred. Laugh, you won’t be laughing for long.
Although Red Devil looked like a clumsy mountain of muscle, he was actually extremely agile. He quickly ran a distance forward, then stopped, and like a monkey, climbed up the ladder on the side of a container.
This container was the only way to get out of here. Soon, he saw the figures of Wen En and his group passing by on the top.
Wen En felt a chill in his heart. Suddenly, he heard Romeo say, “He’s here.”
He saw a black shadow flash in the straight-edged shadow of the container on the ground. Wen En reacted quickly. He had just taken two steps back when Red Devil’s body fell like a rolling rock to the spot where he had just been standing.
Red Devil chose to speak with his fists. He had already anticipated that Wen En would dodge. He turned sideways and kicked at Wen En’s head.
Unfortunately, his plan failed this time. Wen En dodged his attack soulfully and even took advantage of the opening. The second before Red Devil raised his leg to attack again, Wen En stomped on his knee.
“Ah—”
With the sound of a joint breaking, Red Devil let out a miserable cry.
Wen En had no time to listen to his screams. He took a step forward and kneed Red Devil in the chin. A cracking sound came from Red Devil’s jawbone.
Red Devil clutched his chin and got up from the ground. He was about to turn and run to another place like last time, but he didn’t expect Romeo to block his way first.
“Get lost, you stupid pretty boy!” Red Devil cursed and charged straight at him like an enraged goat.
Unexpectedly, Romeo retreated to advance, taking two steps back and disappearing around the corner.
Red Devil stopped. He took a deep breath and spat a mouthful of bloody phlegm on the ground. His eyes scanned the surroundings. He found that Wen En had also disappeared.
Only Xiaoli was standing not far away, and the two pit bulls were cowering behind him.
Xiaoli: “Aren’t you fighting dogs? Go and bite him!”
The two dogs looked terrified, their tails between their legs and their voices whimpering, “Whimper, whimper, whimper…”
Xiaoli: “…You two are such a disgrace!”
Seeing this scene, Red Devil’s vision went black. Fortunately, he hadn’t sent these two dogs to the fighting ring yet, otherwise he would have probably lost all his money.
In this moment of carelessness, a force suddenly hit Red Devil’s back. Red Devil only felt a pain in his right rib, and then he knelt heavily on the ground.
It was Romeo, who had appeared from somewhere and ambushed him. “You despicable pretty boy!” Red Devil cursed. The moment he finished speaking, a gust of wind blew on his face.
Red Devil, who had already sensed that something was wrong, protected his head with his arm. Sure enough, the next moment, a powerful flying kick landed on his arm.
“Pathetic.”
Red Devil gave a mischievous smile, grabbed Wen En’s calf. Romeo rushed up, and this was another of Red Devil’s tricks. Red Devil quickly stood up, dragged Wen En’s leg, then let go. Wen En was thrown out by physical inertia and crashed into Romeo.
“A little trick can only add to the scenery, not turn the tide, understand?”
Red Devil stood up and patted the dust off his clothes. His features were contorted from the beating, and his body and face were covered in blood. He twisted his crooked jaw. He looked like a follower of Satan, a demon from hell.
“I’m just learning your tricks,” Romeo stood up and retorted.
Wen En, standing next to him, did not speak, but just observed the surrounding situation. To their left was the sea. At some point, they had come to the port by the sea again. But this place was different. Apart from a lifeboat with a rescue sign, there were no other moored boats. Many white seabirds were floating on the sea.
These wild animals, which were at the lower end of the food chain, were very alert to dangerous things. They all stayed far away from the humans on the shore, afraid of attracting their attention or being accidentally injured by them.
Wen En’s gaze returned to Red Devil. He had another plan in mind.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure.”
“But it sounds too dangerous. I don’t agree.”
“I know it’s dangerous,” Wen En said. “So you have to do as I say.”
“Wen En!” Romeo looked at him anxiously.
“Shh…” Wen En interrupted Romeo. “Listen to me. Just do it.” Romeo looked at him and knew that with Wen En’s tone, there was no room for change. He could only purse his lips in dissatisfaction.
Wen En took a deep breath and then slowly exhaled. He bent his knees and lowered his legs into a horse stance, his fists at his waist. Then his hands rose, drew a circle in the air, and finally clenched into fists in a boxing stance.
Red Devil laughed loudly, “Beta boy, do you think you’re in a kung fu movie?”
“Not really,” the corners of Wen En’s mouth turned up slightly. “I’m a realist. I don’t do that kung fu stuff.”
With that, Wen En leaped forward and threw a straight punch. The attack was too obvious, and Red Devil quickly blocked it. But soon, he couldn’t laugh anymore. Wen En’s attacks were much slower than before, but his attack speed was getting faster and faster, and the angles were extremely tricky, always targeting some of Red Devil’s joint nerve points.
Just now, Wen En had hit Red Devil’s elbow joint with a hand chop. In an instant, Red Devil’s arm was as numb and painful as if it were being bitten by a thousand red ants. “Bastard!” Red Devil cursed in pain, but he found that his arm had already lost control.
“What did you do to my arm?” Red Devil’s eyes widened. This time, there was finally fear in his eyes.
“An ancient Eastern secret art. You wouldn’t understand,” Wen En said, sweeping his leg and kicking Red Devil in the chest, sending him flying several meters.
“That’s great, baby!” Romeo clapped and cheered from the side.
“Shut up, you son of a bitch pretty boy!” Red Devil was furious.
“You’re so rude,” Romeo said. “That’s why you’ll never be a pretty boy.”
“I don’t want to be one!” Red Devil was furious.
But despite his anger, Red Devil had no intention of continuing the conflict with Wen En. This Beta man was like he had suddenly turned on a cheat code, catching him off guard.
It was a well-known fact that in a fight, you should pick on the weak. The weakest one was the Omega, but the Omega had already run far away. Even if Red Devil was the number one sprinter in the galaxy, it would take him some time to get there. So he could only pick on another, not-so-weak one.
“Go to hell, pretty boy.”
With that, Red Devil charged at Romeo again.
To Red Devil’s surprise, Romeo did not dodge this time. Instead, like a true Alpha male, he confronted him head-on. His hand was still numb, but that didn’t stop him from crashing into Romeo like a wrestler.
“Romeo!” Wen En shouted and ran over.
Seeing Wen En run over, Romeo said loudly, “Wen En, I’m sorry, the plan has changed.”
“What?” Wen En didn’t understand what he was saying. But Red Devil seemed to have understood Romeo’s thoughts. He saw Romeo’s peripheral vision glance at the sea and thought:
Both the Beta boy and this Alpha pretty boy are crazy.
Romeo’s elbow frantically struck Red Devil’s temple. The force was so great that Red Devil felt his brain was about to be shaken into a pulp, but he held on to Romeo and didn’t let go.
“Let’s go to hell together, pretty boy,” Red Devil’s eyes turned red and bulged out like a flounder’s, looking like a madman cursed by a demon.
“I was just thinking the same thing,” Romeo sneered.
“Romeo!” Wen En’s eyes widened in disbelief. He ran over, ignoring the pain in his body, but he was a step too late. The moment he was about to touch Romeo, Romeo dragged Red Devil and jumped into the sea.
“Damn it, why didn’t you follow the plan?” Wen En cursed angrily.
The original plan was for Wen En to drag Red Devil into the sea and kill him there. Wen En had carried out assassination missions on planets with only oceans and no land, so he was more experienced. Therefore, he felt he should take the responsibility. But he hadn’t expected Romeo to forcibly change the plan.
Wen En didn’t want Romeo to die because of him, so he jumped into the sea without hesitation.
Only Xiaoli was left on the shore, dumbfounded. No, are you all that good at swimming…
Xiaoli ran to the shore and looked down. Although this was a port near the shore, the deep blue, impurity-filled seawater was so murky that you couldn’t even see the bottom, let alone see within half a meter.
Xiaoli swallowed. He admitted he was a coward. He could swim a little, but his swimming skills were limited to the two-meter-deep, calm community pool. To jump into this sea to save someone… was simply to go to his death. He even felt that Wen En had a greater chance of saving him.
“What should I do then?” Xiaoli was worried. Under normal circumstances, he didn’t have much empathy, but Wen En had saved him so many times. It didn’t seem right for him to stand by and do nothing now…
Just as Xiaoli was frowning and didn’t know what to do, he suddenly heard a few barks.
What are those two stinking dogs up to again?! Xiaoli looked over irritably and saw the two pit bulls standing in the lifeboat, anxiously circling and barking.
Right, there’s still the lifeboat. Xiaoli quickly boarded the lifeboat and untied the rope. He had only rowed a few meters when he thought of a new problem:
This lifeboat had no other facilities except for a few life jackets and lifebuoys. How was he supposed to find Wen En and Romeo in this vast ocean without any electronic equipment? Xiaoli was even more troubled. What a mess.
“Woof!”
Suddenly, the two pit bulls stood at the head of the lifeboat and barked a few times, as if to remind Xiaoli to look over.
“That’s…” Xiaoli looked closely. Fifty meters ahead, there was a patch of floating red.
Xiaoli quickly rowed the lifeboat over. The closer he got to the red patch, the stronger the metallic smell of blood became.
Xiaoli quickly threw the lifebuoy from the boat. The sea surface rippled, and the red became brighter. Xiaoli was extremely nervous. He had already started to imagine the scene of Wen En or Romeo being eaten by sharks. That would be too cruel.
Fortunately, his imagination was soon broken. The sea surface fluctuated violently, and soon, a person surfaced.
“Wen En, you’re alive,” Xiaoli exclaimed.
Wen En was panting heavily, spitting out seawater. “Help me pull him up first!” he said. Only then did Xiaoli see that Wen En was also carrying a person. It was the unconscious Romeo.
There was a bloody wound on Romeo’s forehead. No wonder he was unconscious.
