Chapter 33 Part 2
Lin Quan: “…”
He had often said those words to Shi Xu. Now, the words were thrown back at him, making him realize how condescending he had been.
And Shi Xu still used that infuriatingly sarcastic tone, calling him “Captain Lin.”
Both “Vice-Captain Lin” and “Captain Lin” sounded equally mocking.
Wanting to be angry, but unable to justify it, his face flushed with embarrassment and shame. He turned and walked away.
Shi Xu watched him leave, his smile fading, his eyes turning cold.
He knew the reason for Lin Quan’s unusual behavior: guilt and a desire to atone.
But Lin Zhi’s death stood between them. He hadn’t killed Lin Zhi, but he was involved.
He wasn’t to blame, but the animosity between them would never truly disappear.
He didn’t need Lin Quan’s guilt or attempts at atonement.
He didn’t think they could ever be friends.
Lin Quan had his pride, and Shi Xu wasn’t a saint.
So, let it be.
It was best they remained as they were.
…
After Lin Quan and his subordinates left, silence returned. Shi Xu tapped the table, looking down at the round, transparent jelly at his feet.
“What are you doing here?”
The dim light under the table highlighted its golden eyes. The pollutant nuzzled his ankle. “I… was worried… Didn’t come home… last night… Thought… you might be… hungry… so I… brought… breakfast…”
Now that Gu Sui had a human form, Shi Xu wasn’t worried about his identity being discovered. Even he couldn’t detect Gu Sui’s pollutant aura, let alone others.
So he wasn’t concerned about the risk of Gu Sui being here.
If Gu Sui did nothing, no one would notice. But he had used his tentacles against Chen Han and the others. If Lin Quan had arrived earlier, he might have noticed.
Shi Xu nudged the clingy pollutant with his foot. “Why did you attack them?”
He hadn’t used much force, but the pollutant let out an exaggerated cry, collapsing dramatically onto the floor, feigning weakness. “Wife… so mean…”
Shi Xu’s voice deepened. “I can be even meaner.”
“…” The pollutant immediately became obedient. “They… said… bad things… about Wife. I… unhappy!”
It blinked its golden eyes, its tentacles cautiously reaching out, not daring to touch his ankle, only rubbing against his pants leg.
“Wife, did… I… upset you?”
“No.” Shi Xu’s expression softened, his hand gently patting the pollutant’s head. “I’m happy you did that. Next time, be more discreet.”
Emboldened, the tentacles shifted from his pants leg to his ankle.
“Wife… happy… will there be… a reward?” The pollutant’s eyes shone with anticipation.
Shi Xu didn’t answer. “Where’s breakfast?”
The pollutant pouted, knowing food was Shi Xu’s priority. It could pester him for rewards later.
It reluctantly released his ankle, transforming into its human form as it emerged from under the table, holding a lunchbox.
A tentacle reached out, pulling a chair over. Gu Sui sat beside Shi Xu, opening the four-tiered lunchbox, arranging the contents on the table.
Shi Xu watched the nimble tentacles, again appreciating the advantages of having multiple hands.
As if afraid he wouldn’t have enough, Gu Sui had brought enough food for four people, a variety of dishes, all to Shi Xu’s liking.
Gu Sui offered him chopsticks. Shi Xu didn’t take them, settling into a comfortable position. “Feed me.”
Gu Sui paused. Shi Xu looked at him. “Unwilling?”
“Never unwilling!” Gu Sui’s eyes lit up, picking up a potsticker and offering it to Shi Xu.
The potsticker, golden brown and coated in egg, was crispy, its juices bursting in his mouth.
Anticipating the juicy filling, Gu Sui had made them small, bite-sized, preventing any spillage.
He had thought himself clever, hoping for Shi Xu’s praise.
But now he regretted it.
Shi Xu’s cheeks puffed out with each chew, his lips moving enticingly, every movement capturing Gu Sui’s attention, making his heart race.
He thought, if some of the juice spilled onto Shi Xu’s lips or chin, he could offer to clean it, licking his chin and lips. If Shi Xu was pleased, perhaps he would be rewarded with a kiss.
Gu Sui stared at Shi Xu’s lips, not realizing he had finished eating.
Shi Xu tapped the table. “What are you staring at?”
Gu Sui snapped out of it, meeting Shi Xu’s slightly annoyed gaze. “Wife, are… the potstickers… good?”
Shi Xu licked his lips. “They’re alright.”
Gu Sui asked boldly, “When… will I… get my… reward?”
Unlike humans, pollutants didn’t hide their desires. He wanted Shi Xu’s reward, and he wasn’t shy about it.
His intentions were clear. Shi Xu cupped his chin, his eyes lifting slightly, his smile seductive. “I’m hungry. Feed me first. There’s no rush.”
His words implied a promise of a reward.
Gu Sui, suppressing his excitement, continued to feed him.
He was so focused that he didn’t hear the approaching footsteps. Just as he offered Shi Xu another potsticker, Shi Xu pushed his head under the table, covering his mouth.
“Shi Xu, I heard there was an incident. Are you alright?” Qi Yu appeared at the window. Seeing him about to enter, Shi Xu opened the window. Qi Yu stopped.
“I’m fine.” Shi Xu removed his hand from the window, his other hand still covering Gu Sui’s mouth.
Qi Yu’s hurried footsteps hadn’t alerted him. He had instinctively hidden Gu Sui. Now, it was too late. Having Gu Sui emerge from under the table would be awkward.
Qi Yu, even without seeing Gu Sui, could imagine all sorts of scenarios. Actually seeing him emerge from under the table would only fuel his imagination.
He couldn’t let them meet yet, and he couldn’t let Qi Yu in!
“Really? I heard Chen Han and the others were injured. They always badmouthed you. Did they do something to you?” Qi Yu started to enter again. Shi Xu quickly stopped him.
Qi Yu retreated to the window, puzzled. “What is it?”
As Shi Xu opened his mouth to reply, he felt something wet and slippery lick his palm.
He looked down, seeing Gu Sui crouching under the table, looking up at him, his lower face covered by Shi Xu’s hand, his eyes filled with desire.
He looked innocent, but his actions were anything but.
“Shi Xu?”
Shi Xu looked up at the confused Qi Yu, feigning composure. “Perhaps they said and did too many bad things. Karma.”
Qi Yu chuckled. “They deserve it. But how did they get injured? I heard they were just standing there. You were there, didn’t you notice anything?”
Gu Sui licked his palm again, then, sensing his lack of resistance, started licking his hand, his tongue moving from his palm to his index finger, a tentative lick, then, emboldened by Shi Xu’s inaction, he sucked his finger into his mouth.
Shi Xu’s breathing grew ragged. He pointed randomly. “I sensed a pollutant’s aura. It went that way.”
He had to lie, even though he felt bad for Qi Yu.
Qi Yu, not questioning him, said, “I’ll go check it out,” and left.
After Qi Yu was gone, Shi Xu relaxed, his finger curling in Gu Sui’s warm mouth, pressing against his tongue.
Gu Sui immediately stopped, looking up at him with innocent, yet desirous eyes.
Shi Xu sneered. “Was that fun?”
Gu Sui swallowed, releasing his finger. “Wife… smells… so good…”
Shi Xu was so close, the small space filled with his scent. He couldn’t resist.
Shi Xu’s hand was still covering his mouth, like offering a tempting morsel to a starved beast.
“I’m sorry… I was wrong…”
“That’s all you ever say,” Shi Xu scoffed.
Gu Sui trembled slightly. “Then… what do I do… to make… Wife… happy?”
He wasn’t unwilling to think, but he couldn’t decipher Shi Xu’s thoughts. Doing the wrong thing would only anger him further. It was better to ask directly. If Shi Xu told him, he would do anything to please him.
Shi Xu pushed Gu Sui’s head down, forcing him to look up, assuming a dominant position, looking down at his submissive prey.
He smeared the saliva from his finger on Gu Sui’s chin, his fingertip tracing his lips, then parting them, commanding, “You like licking so much? Then lick this clean.”
Ayo? 👀👀👀 There’s still an unsolved murder y’all
