Chapter 16: The Vicious Fake Young Master of a Wealthy Family – 16

After delivering the clothes, Su Wenyu returned to his room, satisfied, and lay down on his bed, ready to sleep. That’s when he heard 520’s surprised voice: [Congratulations, Host! The Villain Value has risen again!!]

Su Wenyu sat up in bed, completely baffled. “?”

Why?

Did he not like the clothes he gave him?

Su Wenyu was utterly perplexed. 520 reported that the Villain Value had increased by a significant margin—at least fifty points, convertible into integration currency.

To put that in perspective, completing a mission at most usually only gave him about twenty points. Such a large, unexpected bonus was practically like a pie falling from the sky.

But even by the time he fell asleep, Su Wenyu still hadn’t figured out why his Villain Value had shot up.

The next day, perhaps owing to his lingering confusion, Su Wenyu woke up naturally just after six in the morning.

After waking, he kept his eyes shut and stayed in bed for a while longer. Finding he couldn’t fall back asleep, he sluggishly crawled out of bed to wash up.

After he finished his morning routine, Su Wenyu cracked open the French window leading to his terrace to let in some fresh air. Coincidentally, he heard a rhythmic set of footsteps approaching from below.

Curious, he stepped out and looked down. He saw Zhou Xu, clad in a black sleeveless athletic shirt, running along the road below, his strides steady and vigorous.

Su Wenyu quickly called out to stop him: “Brother!”

Hearing his voice, Zhou Xu slowed his pace, stopping and looking up towards the terrace.

“Good morning, Brother!” Su Wenyu waved enthusiastically.

Zhou Xu seemed to frown slightly. Whatever thought crossed his mind, he merely acknowledged Su Wenyu with a curt, offhand nod before continuing on his way.

Su Wenyu tilted his head, puzzled. Lowering his hand, he asked 520, “What exactly did I do to offend him this time?”

The atmosphere last night during the birthday celebration had been perfectly fine. So why had the Villain Value spiked after he delivered the clothes?

And now today, Zhou Xu was treating him with such cool indifference…

Su Wenyu was starting to think Zhou Xu’s moods were even harder to fathom than a needle at the bottom of the ocean.

Su Wenyu ate breakfast at the main residence. Both Shi Pei and Su Duanhong were there.

Su Duanhong looked mildly surprised to see him, raising an eyebrow and giving a light harrumph. “It’s about time you adjusted your sleep schedule. School starts soon, and sleeping until the sun’s high in the sky is unacceptable.”

Shi Pei lightly swatted Su Duanhong’s arm, frowning. “If you’re concerned about his health, just say so properly. Why must you always phrase things so harshly?”

Having been stubborn his entire life, Su Duanhong would sooner die than admit he was worried about Su Wenyu. He huffed again and ducked his head to sip his coffee, saying nothing more.

Today’s breakfast was Western-style: black pepper sausage toast rolls, waffles, and creamy bacon fettuccine—all rather heavy dishes that weren’t easy on the digestion.

But these were all things Su Wenyu had never tried before, and he was curious. He picked up his knife and fork to cut a piece of the sausage toast roll to taste.

Before the morsel could reach his mouth, however, the sound of footsteps echoed from outside the dining room. Zhou Xu, dressed in a loose-fitting casual tracksuit and carrying a messenger bag slung crossbody over one shoulder, appeared before everyone.

The very instant Zhou Xu’s gaze swept in his direction, Su Wenyu shoved the sausage toast into his mouth, dropped his cutlery, and clamped his lips tightly shut, pretending he hadn’t eaten a thing.

Zhou Xu’s eyes flicked to the plate—to the blatantly cut-up toast—then to Su Wenyu’s conspicuously stuffed cheeks. He frowned.

Shi Pei’s face lit up with pleasant surprise. “Are you having breakfast at home today?”

Without waiting for Zhou Xu’s reply, she immediately called for the kitchen staff to bring out another serving of breakfast.

“No need,” Zhou Xu said. He strode over to the table in a few quick steps and, right in front of everyone, slid Su Wenyu’s entire breakfast over to his own place. “I’ll just eat this. Have the kitchen make him something light and easy to digest. His acute gastroenteritis from yesterday isn’t better yet; he can’t eat this kind of food.”

Su Duanhong’s brows furrowed the moment he heard this. “Acute gastroenteritis? What happened?”

Shi Pei was equally shocked and worried, firing off questions. “Did you eat something bad? How did you suddenly get gastroenteritis? Why didn’t you tell Mom?”

Panicked that Zhou Xu might spill the details of his four-shaved-ice-and-cake binge, Su Wenyu frantically tugged at Zhou Xu’s sleeve, signaling him to shut up. With his mouth still full, he garbled through the food, “It’s nothing. I already went to the hospital. I’ll be fine in a couple of days.”

“He must have eaten something dirty outside. I’ve told you again and again, food from outside is unclean—all gutter oil and who knows what! Nothing compares to the sanitary conditions of home-cooked meals!” Su Duanhong lectured.

Hanging his head, Su Wenyu seemed to wilt under the scolding. In reality, he was using the bowed-head position to frantically chew and swallow that precious mouthful of sausage toast roll.

It was so delicious. Such a pity he’d only gotten a single bite.

Who could have predicted Zhou Xu would suddenly show up? Could he be here specifically to check whether Su Wenyu was following doctor’s orders?

Then, recalling the inexplicable Villain Value spike last night, Su Wenyu reconsidered. Probably not.

Shi Pei, her heart aching, stroked Su Wenyu’s head and instructed the kitchen to prepare a fresh, easily digestible breakfast. She then shot a glare at Su Duanhong. “Enough. You didn’t even know the child was sick. What’s the point of scolding him now? Just make sure he’s more careful in the future.”

Su Duanhong was rendered speechless by his wife’s rebuke. After a long moment, he muttered under his breath, “I was only worried about him too.”

“Then worry with nicer words. All you do is lecture,” Shi Pei snapped, annoyed.

But Su Duanhong’s temperament, forged over decades, couldn’t be changed overnight. Chided by his wife, his own temper flared. He drained the last of his coffee, shut his mouth firmly, and refused to say another word.

Su Wenyu, his focus entirely on the breakfast in front of Zhou Xu, hadn’t caught a word of his parents’ exchange.

It was only when Zhou Xu pulled out the chair next to him and sat down that Su Wenyu reluctantly tore his gaze away from the food and turned it onto Zhou Xu. Puzzled, he whispered, “Why aren’t you wearing any of the clothes I gave you?”

Zhou Xu’s entire outfit, from head to toe, contained not a single item from last night’s gift.

With a troubled expression, Su Wenyu asked, “Did you not like… any of the things I picked out?”

He’d painstakingly chosen every piece online to match what he perceived as Zhou Xu’s usual style.

Could it be that none of it suited his taste?

Zhou Xu looked at Su Wenyu’s picture-of-innocence act and instantly suspected he’d brought this up on purpose.

On the surface, asking why he wasn’t wearing the gifted clothes. In reality… fishing for whether he was wearing the gifted underwear!

Zhou Xu bit savagely into his waffle, as if it were Su Wenyu himself in his mouth. In a low, harsh voice, he growled, “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re scheming. I warned you before—stop playing those little mind games with me.”

Glancing to make sure Shi Pei and Su Duanhong weren’t paying them any attention, he dropped his voice even further, continuing, “If you behave yourself, I can still be your brother. But if you keep having designs on me, don’t blame me when I stop being polite.”

Su Wenyu was utterly lost. Silently, he queried 520: [What does he mean? Does he know I’m after his Villain Value?]

520 instantly dismissed it: [Impossible. The matter of Villain Value is known to only you and me within this small world.]

It ran a diagnostic, cross-referencing the data from last night’s gift-giving with Zhou Xu’s reactions this morning. Finally, it produced a scientific theory: [Based on my analysis, Zhou Xu likely still believes you are gay and deeply infatuated with him. Hence, you giving him clothes last night, and now specifically asking why he isn’t wearing them.]

Su Wenyu was bewildered: [Is that so?]

[But I’ve explained so many times… I’m not gay, and I don’t like him.]

520 concluded, [Many narcissistic men refuse to listen to explanations and simply dwell in their own over-interpreted fantasies. Zhou Xu appears to be one such individual. My advice is, don’t pay him any extra attention. Every extra glance you give, they interpret as a sign of interest.]

Su Wenyu had a sudden realization: [I see.]

Another lesson learned.

[So… the Villain Value increase last night… could it be because Zhou Xu received the clothes and thought I gave them because I liked him, and that disgusted him?] Su Wenyu hypothesized.

[That’s a distinct possibility.] A brilliant, lightbulb-worthy idea struck 520. [In that case, aside from the missions I issue, you could also just… casually pretend to be a gay man hitting on him during normal interactions! The Villain Value would certainly skyrocket!]

520’s imagination ran wild with the prospect—it seemed like a phenomenal method for farming Villain Value!

Su Wenyu felt a bit hesitant: [But I don’t really know how to… pretend to hit on someone.]

520 thought for a moment, then said, [Just interact with him the way you normally do.]

Su Wenyu’s eyes widened: [My normal interactions with him come across as gay?! Isn’t that just… normal brotherly interaction?]

520 corrected: [The important thing is Zhou Xu perceives it as gay. Your opinion doesn’t matter. We’re farming his Villain Value, after all.]

Mulling over 520’s logic, Su Wenyu had to admit it sounded perfectly sound.

520 comforted him: [Even if you’re unsure what to do, I’ll guide you. Don’t worry!]

Su Wenyu made a vague sound of acknowledgement, not refusing.

After all, it was genuinely the simplest method to earn Villain Value. Su Wenyu wasn’t about to reject an easy path in favor of a hard one.

Every single Villain Value point he earned now was another glimmer of hope for his future survival.

It was just… delving too deeply into the methodology felt… weird.

Did normal, malicious villains pretend to be gay and flirt with the male lead just to disgust him?

Su Wenyu had a sinking feeling that, together, he and 520 were pioneering a completely new sub-genre of villainy.

When everyone else’s breakfast was finished, Su Wenyu’s finally arrived: a bowl of steamed egg custard and a small bowl of soft-boiled vegetable and minced pork noodles.

The surface of the egg custard looked delightfully wobbly and smooth, garnished with a sprinkle of chopped scallions. It looked absolutely appetizing.

Su Wenyu’s attention was promptly captured by his breakfast. All thoughts of villains and value points were temporarily shelved as he grabbed his spoon and focused entirely on eating.

Across the table, Shi Pei watched her two sons, a contented smile playing on her lips. Suddenly, as if remembering something, she clapped her hands together lightly. “Oh, right! Since you’re both here, there’s something else I need to mention.”

Su Wenyu paused, a spoonful of egg custard midway to his mouth, and looked up quizzically.

Shi Pei addressed him directly: “S University classes start in about a week. Some time ago, Zhou Xu’s academic registration was officially transferred to S University. Although you’re in different majors, you’ll be on the same campus. You’re going to be schoolmates from now on.”

Su Wenyu blinked, only now recalling that his current identity was, in fact, a university student! He… had to attend classes!

Shi Pei then turned her attention to Zhou Xu. “Previously, Wenyu stayed in an apartment near the university during the school term. But that apartment is a bit small for two people. So, I’ve purchased a new, larger one. Once the semester starts, you’ll both move in there together. On weekends or holidays, you can come back home together. How does that sound?”

Before Su Wenyu died of illness, he bound with the Vicious Villain System.

The System said: You must trample the Male Lead, insult the Male Lead, and make the Male Lead experience all the dangers of the world!

As long as you play the Villain well, you can stay alive!

And so, the sickly Su Wenyu shuttled through various Small Worlds, determined to be the worst Villain of all!

【World One: The Vicious Fake Rich Young Master】

[With the Real Young Master’s return, you fear he will steal everything you now possess. So you...]

Su Wenyu looked down condescendingly at the country bumpkin Real Young Master whose clothes were washed so pale the original color was fading, and stepped on his knee.

“So what if you’re the Real Young Master? You’re still beneath my foot.” Su Wenyu lifted his small chin arrogantly, his fine leather shoe pressing down slowly.

The Real Young Master, whose gaze deepened from being stepped on, hung his head and did not resist.

Later, the Real Young Master grasped his ankle, his voice low: “Wenyu, your strength is too weak. Step harder.”

Su Wenyu: ?

【World Two: The Jealous Apocalyptic White Lotus】

[A man with a Healing Ability joins the team, drawing everyone’s attention. Ignored, you...]

While the man was asleep, Su Wenyu smashed a Water Ball onto his face.

Straddling the man’s waist, Su Wenyu extended his slender finger, looking at him imperiously. “You have a Healing Ability, right? My finger is broken. Heal it.”

The man looked at Su Wenyu’s wound, which would close in a few minutes, then at his eyes, red-rimmed from pain. Compelled by some strange impulse, he opened his mouth.

Then Su Wenyu stared at his wet finger: ...Is that how healing works?

Later, Su Wenyu injured his thigh. The man’s gaze on his thigh was so intense that Su Wenyu quickly pulled the small blanket over himself.

“No need to heal it! This really doesn’t need healing!”

【World Three...】

In the end, the System looked at the Male Leads slaving away for Su Wenyu, sighing that it had truly found a promising sprout for a Villain.

Su Wenyu’s little face flushed red. He didn’t dare to refute it.
