Chapter 89: A Proper Person Must Do Proper Things Part 3

He didn’t lie down completely. Instead, he propped himself up on one arm, resting his chin in his palm as he gazed intensely at Gu Huaiyu. “Does the Lord Chancellor pity me?”

Gu Huaiyu couldn’t be bothered with him. He closed his eyes. “Sleep if you’re going to sleep. If not, get out.”

How could Pei Jingyi sleep? The person beside him was fragrant and soft. He stared at the sleeping face inches away for a long time before suddenly reaching out to pull that slender shoulder toward him. “It’s cold. Can I hold you while we sleep?”

The temperature in the desert fluctuated wildly between day and night; it was indeed bone-chillingly cold now.

Gu Huaiyu’s body was naturally prone to cold. He stiffened slightly when he was pulled into the warm, firm embrace, but in the end, he didn’t push him away.

The night was exceptionally still. His face happened to rest against the crook of Pei Jingyi’s neck.

He could clearly hear the rhythmic thump-thump-thump of a powerful heartbeat. Strangely, the heartbeat grew faster and faster, like a drum, making it impossible for him to sleep soundly.

He let out a tired yawn. “Your heart is racing… did you do something guilty?”

Pei Jingyi sighed inwardly, My dear Chancellor. He couldn’t help but chuckle. “If my heart weren’t racing right now, then there would be a real problem.”

Gu Huaiyu frowned, confused. “Do you have a heart condition?”

Pei Jingyi fell silent for a moment before speaking bluntly. “I love you, my Lord. With my heart’s desire in my arms, how could I not be overwhelmed with emotion?”

Gu Huaiyu blinked slowly. It was another confession. He wasn’t angry; he only let out a lazy hum through his nose. “Boring. Let’s talk about proper business.”

Gu Huaiyu’s appearance made Pei Jingyi’s blood run hot. At this moment, the last thing he wanted to talk about was “proper business.” He only wished he could do some “proper things” immediately.

Gu Huaiyu felt the weight on his shoulder lift. In the darkness, he saw the tall silhouette suddenly loom over him.

In the next moment, skillful fingers familiarly undid his belt.

This wasn’t the first time he had experienced such a thing, but he was startled by Pei Jingyi’s audacity. In a dangerous enemy relay station, the man actually dared to be so reckless.

Before “Little Yu” could influence “Huaiyu’s” judgment, he reached out to press against Pei Jingyi’s descending head, hissing a low rebuke, “You bastard, have you gone mad?”

Pei Jingyi’s tongue swirled. His mouth was too busy savoring the taste to bother with an answer.

Gu Huaiyu’s entire body tensed. This tension only served to make him more sensitive. From the corner of his eye, he saw a sliver of light from the door crack—someone was standing outside, motionless.

His eyes widened. He grabbed the small braids at Pei Jingyi’s temples and yanked upward.

Pei Jingyi looked up, a flash of coldness in his eyes—he had already noticed the movement outside.

At this hour, someone at the door wasn’t just passing by; they were trying to eavesdrop.

If it were Amula, he wouldn’t act so stealthily; he would knock openly. It had to be one of Amula’s warriors.

Pei Jingyi raised a finger to his lips, gesturing for silence.

Gu Huaiyu trembled from the sudden sensation, his knees involuntarily tightening around the troublemaker’s head.

This reaction only spurred Pei Jingyi into a frenzy. The assault of his lips and tongue became almost feral, sucking and entangling without the slightest reservation.

Gu Huaiyu fought to suppress his tremors, instinctively covering his mouth with his hand for fear of alerting the person outside.

The stealthy footsteps outside eventually vanished.

Pei Jingyi contentedly licked away the last drop of nectar, whispering hoarsely, “One of Amula’s men is a rat.”

Before the words had even settled, he leaned down again to clean everything up thoroughly.

Once he had finished, he sat up. Without a belt, Gu Huaiyu’s robes were wide open, his black hair sprawled messily beneath him. Under the moonlight, his skin looked like translucent jade, his thin chest heaving. A bead of sweat slid down his Adam’s apple like a droplet on a snowy peak.

His face was breathtakingly flushed. Beneath damp lashes, his eyes were unfocused, and his lips were bitten soft and wet. One look was enough to make anyone’s heart race.

Pei Jingyi’s gaze drifted lower. The pale, pink tips were like ripe peaches waiting to be plucked.

In the army, Pei Jingyi was used to seeing bare-chested men, but he had never seen anyone so beautiful. He couldn’t help but reach out, his thumb brushing over them with moderate pressure.

Gu Huaiyu sluggishly lowered his gaze, his eyelashes fluttering in confusion. “Why are you touching those?”

His voice was still husky, but he added with total sincerity, “I don’t even have them.”

Pei Jingyi cursed a heavy “Fuck!” in his mind, his blood boiling at the sight.

He adored this side of Gu Huaiyu. He leaned down to lick the sweat-dampened flush on the other’s face, murmuring in a low, gravelly voice, “Huaiyu… my Little Yu…”

Gu Huaiyu’s expression shifted instantly. He hadn’t forgotten what that mouth had just been doing. He turned cold, shoving the hot chest away. “Get away from me.”

Gu Huaiyu was the most treacherous official of the Great Chen Dynasty. He held absolute power, eclipsing even the sun itself. To him, the Son of Heaven above was a mere plaything, and the civil and military officials below were nothing more than lowly slaves. Mentioning his name was enough to make anyone spit in disgust. And yet, this great villain possessed a complexion as bright and pale as snow. Frail and sickly, he looked like a Jade Guanyin stained with blood. One day, Gu Huaiyu awakened. He realized he was actually the ultimate villain in a male-oriented novel! In the near future, he would face the systematic extermination of his entire lineage. According to the usual script, Gu Huaiyu should have repented, turned over a new leaf, and sought redemption— Hah. Submit to others? Since this world had allowed him to taste the power of life and death, why should he ever hand it over? *** The first time Pei Jingyi saw Gu Huaiyu, he thought the Lord Chancellor was excessively beautiful. He was so pale he was dazzling. That waist, those legs—every step he took made Pei’s heart itch with desire. He thought the man was a sickly weakling, but he turned out to be a snake with a hidden blade behind every smile. Gu Huaiyu slapped him, whipped him, forced him to kneel in the snow, and dragged him behind a horse like a toy. Gu Huaiyu didn't treat him like a human; he treated him like a dog. Pei Jingyi should have hated him. But on the day he finally provoked Gu Huaiyu, he was pressed down to kneel in the snow before everyone. The Chancellor looked down at him from his high perch, slowly lifting a bare foot to press it against Pei’s face. The sole of that foot was as cold as a piece of jade soaked in a freezing spring, yet the tips of the toes carried a trace of living, soft warmth. "This Chancellor’s feet are cold." The Lord Chancellor’s voice was gentle, but his eyes looked at Pei as if he were a stray dog. "The General is full of vigor; lend me some of your warmth." Pei Jingyi suddenly grinned. He finally understood. This wasn't humiliation—it was a singular honor!
