The Whole Family Are Villains, I’m the Group Pet 142

Chapter 142

Wen Xingxue felt like he was being targeted by that stupid octopus.

Whenever he entered a dungeon related to the ocean or school, he would encounter the small, transparent octopus, its tentacles flailing as it attacked him.

He recognized it as Xing Nuo’s brother.

At first, he had been reluctant to fight back, thinking they were family. He would always try to avoid it.

But the octopus would just cling to his face, its demeanor arrogant, and beat him up!

Wen Xingxue, rolling on the deck of the ship, his anger boiling over, had finally fought back.

The other players, watching them fight like children, had chuckled and whispered:

“What are they doing?”

“Is that really the SSS+ level octopus monster and Wen, the top-ranked player?”

So childish!

After their fight, having vented their frustrations, they had exchanged a few harsh words and parted ways.

Shen Baizhou, his face bruised and scratched, returned home, fuming.

Xing Nuo, watching cartoons, saw his brother and, unfazed by his injuries, which had become a common sight lately, just turned back to the TV.

Big Brother always seemed to be tripping and falling, his face covered in bruises.

Xing Nuo, sipping his honey water, suddenly remembered something and, pulling Shen Baizhou closer, whispered:

“Big Brother, I know how Daddy found our ice cweam!”

Shen Baizhou thought, How else? That Wen Xingxue must have snitched!

Xing Nuo pointed at a small, round object in the corner.

“It’s camewa. Daddy installed it…a few days ago.”

Shen Baizhou’s eye twitched, and he touched his bruised lip, hissing softly.

So, I was beaten up for nothing!

Wen Xingxue, in a school-themed detective dungeon, saw Shen Baizhou, the school’s core monster, appear.

He was about to say he wasn’t in the mood for a fight when Shen Baizhou tossed him something, said “For you,” and vanished.

Wen Xingxue, catching the high-level energy prop, was momentarily stunned.

Why are Shen Wen’s creations so strange?

Xing Nuo performed consistently in his final exams, the first-grade questions easy for him, and many students received perfect scores, making it difficult to rank them.

But Xing Nuo still received a certificate for his perfect score, which he proudly carried home in his backpack.

School had finished early that afternoon, and the other children wanted to play, but Xing Nuo, eager to show his dad his certificate, declined their invitations and walked home alone.

Just as he reached the corner near his complex, he sensed someone following him.

He didn’t turn around, but ran, turning the corner, and, seeing the familiar supermarket owner sitting outside, enjoying the cool evening air, sighed in relief and turned back.

Lu Qi, his cold, mechanical face, stood there.

Xing Nuo’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Lu Qi?!”

Lu Qi, forcing a smile, his long sleeves and pants hiding his mechanical limbs, hummed.

“Xing Nuo didn’t forget me!”

Xing Nuo smiled, his eyes crinkling into happy crescents.

“Yes. I no forget anymore.”

Lu Qi, happy that Xing Nuo remembered him, didn’t question it.

Xing Nuo, glancing at the people around them, pulled Lu Qi to a more secluded spot under a tree.

“Xiao Qi, how you come here?”

Wasn’t Lu Qi in another world?

Lu Qi, always honest with Xing Nuo, replied:

“Used some energy…crawled through…gap between worlds.”

He had been stealing energy in the horror world: from monsters, dungeons, players, anything with energy.

In just half a year, he had recovered a small portion of his power.

Afraid Xing Nuo would forget him again, he had followed a group of monsters trying to squeeze through a dimensional rift and entered the real world.

Xing Nuo, his eyes filled with confusion, asked softly:

“What’s ‘gap between worlds’? Like…ant hole?”

Lu Qi, unable to describe it, his dark eyes flickering with blue light, said:

“Xing Nuo come see…then you know.”

Xing Nuo looked towards his complex, then at Lu Qi, and shook his head.

“I have to go home…show Daddy my certificate. Getting dark…not safe for children…outside alone.”

Lu Qi, never arguing with Xing Nuo, smiled, his expression still slightly stiff.

“Okay. Whenever Xing Nuo wants to go…I’ll be with you.”

Xing Nuo, remembering his summer break was starting soon, no more school during the day, thought for a moment.

“How ’bout tomowwow morning? We go see!”

He was also curious about this “gap between worlds.”

They exchanged updates about their lives. Xing Nuo was busy with elementary school, while Lu Qi was traveling through the horror world, stealing energy, and was now a wanted criminal.

Xing Nuo’s eyes widened in alarm. “That’s dangerous!”

With so many monsters after him, Lu Qi must have been desperate to escape the horror world, which was why he had come to find him.

Lu Qi, unfazed, shrugged.

“It’s okay. After I steal a few more times, they’ll get used to it. Won’t mind me taking their energy.”

Xing Nuo, his mouth open slightly, speechless, stared at him.

Lu Qi then added:

“I learned it from Xing Nuo!”

Xing Nuo’s eyes widened, and he shook his head vigorously.

“I no steal! I good boy!”

Lu Qi nodded, not seeing the contradiction.

“Good boy and stealing energy…not mutually exclusive. We used to be…in much worse situations. Had to steal…to survive.”

Xing Nuo, his face pale, his voice barely a whisper, asked:

“We used to be…so sad?”

Having to steal just to survive?

Lu Qi nodded, remembering their past, and sighed.

“We were. Like now…but worse. But it’s over now. I can steal energy myself.”

Xing Nuo, speechless for a moment, then said softly:

“You…be careful.”

Lu Qi hummed and waved.

“I go now. Xing Nuo go home. I wait for you here tomorrow!”

Xing Nuo wanted to take Lu Qi home with him. He had no one here and would have to sleep on the streets.

But Lu Qi shook his head, not wanting to face Xing Nuo’s terrifying monster family.

“No need. I go back to…gap between worlds. More monsters passing by…can steal more.”

Lu Qi is really obsessed with stealing energy, Xing Nuo thought.

Perhaps because of his mechanical limbs. Without energy, they wouldn’t work, like appliances without electricity.

Xing Nuo, his mind troubled, walked home with his backpack.

He gave his certificate to his dad, and Shen Wen went to find a frame for it, to hang it on their “Wall of Honor.”

This wall already displayed Xing Nuo’s three-legged race medal from kindergarten, his first-place prize for snowflake-making, his “Most Well-Behaved Student” award, and other achievements.

Xing Nuo, his hands behind his back, looked at his awards and nodded in satisfaction.

He was a good boy and wouldn’t steal anyone’s energy, unlike Lu Qi.

But what was energy?

He asked Lu Qi the next day.

“Energy…something inside all living things. Some have little…some have lots.”

“When in danger…energy comes out…can be used.”

Xing Nuo, understanding some of it, nodded.

“Like Supewman! Vewy stwong…can fly!”

Lu Qi, after thinking for a moment, hummed in agreement.

“Similar. But flying…not realistic. But with props…can fly.”

Xing Nuo, not quite understanding, but not wanting to ask more questions, said:

“Let’s go see…gap between worlds!”

Lu Qi, taking his hand, nodded and led him towards a wall.

Xing Nuo, thinking they were about to crash into the wall, but trusting Lu Qi, closed his eyes and walked forward.

The wall shimmered like water, and he stepped through it, into a dark, narrow space.

It was pitch black, and he couldn’t even see his hand in front of his face.

Lu Qi’s cold, mechanical voice sounded beside him, his hand gripping Xing Nuo’s tightly.

“Xing Nuo, don’t be afraid. We’ll be there soon.”

Xing Nuo felt like he had walked down this dark path before, searching for his dad, but his memory was hazy.

They walked in silence, Lu Qi’s blue eyes the only source of light.

Xing Nuo, his gaze fixed on Lu Qi’s eyes, followed him.

After a few minutes, they reached an open area.

Their surroundings, once dark, were now brightly lit.

Jagged cliffs, a smoking volcano in the distance, a deep chasm at their feet, the landscape desolate and dangerous.

Xing Nuo, feeling the heat from the volcano, took a step back.

“This volcano?”

Lu Qi nodded.

“Edge of monster world…border with human world.”

Dangerous and treacherous, difficult for both humans and monsters to cross.

Lu Qi pointed.

“That volcano…always erupting before. Hot lava…flowed into cracks…powerful energy…no one could approach.”

Xing Nuo, sensing the danger, asked:

“Now?”

Lu Qi, thinking about his investigation, turned to Xing Nuo.

“Now volcano…dormant. And barrier…weakening. Monsters can crawl through…cracks.”

He pointed.

“That’s the dungeon world…we went to before.”

Xing Nuo, looking at the smoking volcano, his eyes wide with awe and a hint of fear, was speechless.
