Chapter 147
Xing Nuo, completely oblivious to the actor’s sudden animosity, shook his head, pulled An Zimuo’s arm, and ran towards the next complex.
“No. We go play now.”
The assistant director thought Xing Nuo was too young to understand the incredible opportunity he was missing!
For ordinary people, becoming famous overnight, the wealth and status that came with it, was an impossible dream!
But Xing Nuo was too fast, and he couldn’t catch him.
He looked at the little one’s retreating figure, not giving up, planning to visit his home later and talk to his parents.
The actor, a veteran of the entertainment industry, saw through the assistant director’s plan.
He clenched his fists, ruffled his son’s hair, and whispered, telling him to go play in front of the camera.
His son, however, engrossed in his sandcastle, waved him away impatiently.
“Leave me alone! I’m not done playing!”
The actor cursed inwardly, but maintained his gentle smile for the camera.
After the live stream ended, he discreetly turned to a seemingly empty space and said:
“Go find that child…”
At the neighboring complex, a new slide had been installed, and there was already a line of children waiting when Xing Nuo and An Zimuo arrived.
Xing Nuo placed his small shovel by the flowerbed and joined the queue excitedly.
“Slide so tall!”
An Zimuo nodded. “Yes! Took many days to build! Will be fun!”
Xing Nuo, his anticipation growing, finally reached the top and slid down, the wind rushing against his face, making him yell, his little topknot flying.
He landed on his bottom with a thud, but, feeling no pain, just giggled and ran back to join the line again.
An Zimuo, following him, glanced at the flowerbed.
“Xing Nuo, youw shovel! Other kids will take!”
He had lost his little bucket before, never to be found again.
Xing Nuo glanced at his shovel and hummed.
“It’s okay. I watching.”
I’ll take shovel home after, he thought as he climbed the steps to the slide.
The slide had a short, enclosed tunnel, then opened up, a long, steep drop to the ground.
Xing Nuo emerged from the tunnel, the wind whipping his hair, making him squint, his cheeks flushed.
He was smiling, his dimples showing, when he suddenly saw his shovel.
It was just there, at the bottom of the slide, its pointed end facing up.
Xing Nuo’s eyes widened.
He was about to reach the ground, and he tried to move, to avoid the shovel.
But the shovel moved too, flying towards his leg!
Xing Nuo, his balance off, landed awkwardly on the ground.
But the expected pain didn’t come. Just as the shovel was about to hit him, something grabbed it, and it clattered to the ground.
The familiar voice sounded:
“Xing Nuo, you okay?”
Xing Nuo froze, his heart pounding, then he sighed in relief.
“Don’t worry. Daddy’s here.”
Then, the presence vanished, and the shovel lay motionless on the ground, as if nothing had happened.
Xing Nuo, staring at the shovel, his mind reeling,
It really flew! It twied to stab Zaizai!
He frowned and cautiously poked the shovel with his finger.
It wobbled slightly, and he quickly withdrew his hand.
An Zimuo, his turn on the slide, screamed and slid down, landing on top of Xing Nuo.
They tumbled to the ground, giggling.
An Zimuo, his leg slightly scraped, but not caring, pulled Xing Nuo up.
Xing Nuo, also laughing, then, remembering the shovel, afraid it would hurt someone, picked it up.
An Zimuo, wiping his sweaty forehead with his dirty hand, his eyes wide with curiosity, asked:
“How did youw shovel get here? It was by the flowers!”
Xing Nuo shook his head, thinking about it.
“It just…flew. So stwange.”
He took the shovel and turned to An Zimuo.
“I take shovel home. Going home now! Bye, Zimuo!”
An Zimuo, unable to stop him, watched him go, puzzled. “Why so fast?”
Xing Nuo ran back to his complex and, passing the sandbox, saw the film crew still there.
The assistant director, spotting Xing Nuo, excitedly pointed him out to the cameraman.
Xing Nuo, his face dirty, his expression slightly dazed, his blue cover-all dusty from rolling on the ground,
looked at the camera, then, not understanding what it was, quickly ran away.
The viewers in the live stream were delighted.
[Aww, it’s the little cutie, the dirty bun!]
[Where did he roll around? Come here, Auntie will give you a clean burlap sack, hehe!]
The actor, who had been trying to cultivate a patient and doting father persona, was the most shocked.
His eyes widened in surprise, and he mumbled:
“How…?”
Realizing his mistake, he quickly shut his mouth and watched as Xing Nuo disappeared, his eyes narrowed.
The assistant director, pleased with the rising viewership, called it a day.
The live stream ended, and the actor, avoiding the crowd, returned to his RV and spoke to a crystal orb.
“Bro!”
A battered and bruised man appeared on the orb’s surface, his expression grim.
“What’s the deal with that kid you asked me to target?!”
His voice was filled with barely suppressed anger.
The actor, confused, thought, What could possibly be special about a kid from an ordinary complex?
“He’s just a normal kid. What happened? Why are you injured?”
The man on the other end, suppressing his anger, said:
“I’m not helping you with this anymore. That kid is connected to one of the top-ranked players!”
The actor’s eyes widened in disbelief. “How is that possible?!”
The man took a deep breath, calming down.
“Stop targeting him. I can handle your other rivals, but this kid’s background is not simple.”
“Listen to me, forget about your acting career. This world is about to fall apart!”
The actor, his face darkening, turned off the crystal orb.
He and the man on the other end were twins. While he had pursued an acting career, his brother had mysteriously disappeared.
He had hoped to use his fame to find his brother, but one night, he had heard his brother’s voice, seemingly coming from nowhere.
And he had learned about the other world!
His brother wasn’t dead, but alive, possessing powers and magical props!
They had reconnected using a rare crystal orb, and his brother, using high-level props, would occasionally return to the real world to help him eliminate his rivals.
Like the popular young actor who had a car accident right before filming, and the actress who was constantly being pranked on a reality show…
Thanks to his brother’s help, he had risen to become a top actor.
But his popularity wasn’t as high as he had hoped, still overshadowed by some younger actors, and he had hoped to boost his image with this family-friendly reality show. He hadn’t expected to be thwarted by a child!
He knew his brother had powerful connections in the player world and now felt a pang of fear.
Hopefully, nothing bad happened.
His brother was also quite powerful, having cleared A-rank dungeons and joined the largest guild, Zero One. They would surely show him some respect.
As he was pondering this, he saw the assistant director and his assistant heading towards the child’s apartment building.
His heart pounding, he quickly followed them.
Xing Nuo, back home, having locked his shovel in a box, was crouching down, examining it.
Shen Wen, returning with a bouquet of freshly cut flowers, seeing the little one covered in dirt, staring at the box, asked:
“Xing Nuo, what are you doing?”
Xing Nuo, not knowing how to explain what had happened, was about to speak when someone knocked on the door.
“Hello, I’m the director from the reality show. Can we talk to you for a moment?”
Shen Wen, having heard about the film crew in the complex, but not thinking it concerned them, frowned and opened the door.
The assistant director and his assistant, seeing Shen Wen, their eyes widened.
The beautiful man, his fair skin flawless, holding a bouquet of flowers, his golden hair shimmering, looked like a painting.
The assistant director, his heart pounding, thought, I have to get this family on our show!
