Chapter 154
Guild Zero One headquarters.
Sang Ming was waiting for the players he had sent to the dungeon to return.
He had sent players to this dungeon many times before, but they had always returned injured or defeated, unable to obtain the map of the monster world.
His second-in-command couldn’t help but ask:
“Guild Leader, how can you be so sure that monster has a map?”
Sang Ming smiled confidently, his eyes filled with a condescending arrogance.
“Of course he does! The Shen Group’s business has been expanding rapidly in the monster world, their branches everywhere, even in the most remote corners. How could he not have a map?”
He had encountered this monster before, seen his human form, and was certain that someone as meticulous and organized as him would have created a map of the monster world.
A guild member rushed in.
“They’re back! But the players who were distracting the monster…they’re…but the other two survived!”
Sang Ming feigned concern, but he only cared about the map, not the players’ safety.
Two players, supporting each other, one with a broken arm, the other bleeding from his abdomen, stumbled in.
Sang Ming rushed over, feigning concern, and after a while, they handed him the map.
“That monster is too cautious. He dropped the map and destroyed it. But we were quick and used a high-level replication prop to make a copy.”
Sang Ming, his face beaming, unable to contain his excitement, took the map and told the others to take the injured players to the infirmary.
After everyone left, he carefully unfolded the map and, looking at Central City, circled in yellow, chuckled.
As he had suspected, Central City wasn’t a separate realm, but located right in the center of the monster world!
It was just shielded by a special energy barrier, preventing monsters from entering, making it a safe haven for players.
So, they could not only return to the real world using dungeons and props, but also escape through the dimensional rift, just like the monsters!
Xing Nuo woke up, the bright morning sun streaming through the window, illuminating his curls.
He yawned, then, remembering something, looked at the clock on his nightstand.
It was past eight! He jumped out of bed and quickly got ready for work.
He grabbed his backpack, his hand in Shen Wen’s, and said anxiously:
“Daddy, I’ll be late for work! Take me!”
Shen Wen, not understanding Xing Nuo’s sudden enthusiasm for work, ruffled his hair and called out to Shen Baizhou, who was still lazing around:
“Take Xing Nuo to work on your scooter.”
Shen Baizhou groaned, got up, splashed water on his face to wake up, grabbed Xing Nuo’s backpack and his hand, and led him downstairs.
At the entrance of their building, they ran into Qi Yao, who was returning from a mission.
Xing Nuo puffed out his chest.
“Uncle Qi, I have job now! I’m Little Vice Pwesident of company!”
Qi Yao, surprised, looked at Xing Nuo’s “Assistant” ID card and stroked his chin thoughtfully.
“Already earning a living at such a young age? Impressive!”
Xing Nuo nodded proudly, his eyes sparkling.
“Of course! I good worker!”
He then looked at his watch and stomped his foot anxiously.
“Oh no, oh no! I’ll be late!”
Without even saying goodbye, he pulled his brother’s hand and hurried away.
Sitting on the scooter, Xing Nuo put on his duck helmet and made a “Let’s go!” gesture.
“Go, Big Brother! Hurry! Work starts at eight-thirty! If late…no more Little Vice Pwesident!”
Shen Baizhou hummed and asked:
“Being late that bad?”
Xing Nuo, in his little mind, had a clear set of rules: good performance meant promotion, being late meant demotion.
He was anxious, his little head constantly peeking over the handlebars, checking their progress.
They reached the company building just in time, and Xing Nuo, his hand in his brother’s, ran inside, swiping his ID card at the last second.
He wiped his forehead and sighed in relief.
“That was close!”
He had almost lost his Little Vice President position!
Shen Baizhou, his first time at Shen Yan’s company, looked around the modern, stylish office and clicked his tongue.
“Shen Yan is one greedy bastard. Two companies? He must be swimming in money!”
Shen Yan’s company in the human world was legitimate, its profits taxed, its growth normal, but his company in the monster world was a monopoly!
Especially after he introduced the Star Coins, he even owned the only currency mint.
He controlled the entire monster world’s economy!
Shen Baizhou doubted he could ever match Shen Yan’s business acumen, even with his hard-earned three-hundred-something score on the college entrance exam. It would probably take him centuries.
Xing Nuo pressed the elevator button and, seeing his brother still looking around, explained:
“Eleventh floor Big Brother’s office…and secwetawy office…and big meeting woom. I delivered files there before!”
Shen Baizhou ruffled Xing Nuo’s hair, impressed.
“So amazing! You’re a core member of the company now?”
Not understanding the corporate structure, seeing Xing Nuo puffing out his chest proudly, he exaggerated.
Xing Nuo nodded vigorously, his eyes sparkling.
“Yes! Yesterway…if I no deliver files…no meeting!”
Shen Baizhou gave him a thumbs-up.
“Amazing! Xing Nuo, work hard…kick Shen Yan out…then company ouws!”
He grinned, his monolid lifting, imagining their shared corporate empire.
Xing Nuo, however, shook his head thoughtfully.
“Not yet. I need…better performance.”
Shen Baizhou was about to reply when the elevator doors opened, and Shen Yan’s cold voice sounded:
“Shen Baizhou, you’re an idiot. Stop misleading Xing Nuo.”
He was starting to doubt if Shen Baizhou had actually gotten that three-hundred-something score himself.
Shen Baizhou just snorted, his hands in his pockets, his expression nonchalant.
He took Xing Nuo’s hand, ignoring Shen Yan, and asked:
“Where’s Xing Nuo’s office?”
Xing Nuo, still excited about his job, pointed ahead.
“Over there!”
Shen Yan, rubbing his forehead, afraid of Shen Baizhou causing trouble, followed them.
Xing Nuo, having arrived just on time, the other assistants and secretaries already at their desks,
was greeted by the secretaries, who had thought he might have forgotten about his internship.
“Xing Nuo’s here?”
“Good, you came to work again today!”
Xing Nuo hummed, placed his ID card on his desk, and introduced his brother.
“This Assistant Ke…Big Brother’s assistant. That’s Sister Yao, head secwetawy…”
Shen Baizhou, listening to his introduction, clicked his tongue.
“Shen Yan is quite the big shot. So many assistants and secretaries. Thinks he’s an emperor.”
The secretaries, looking at the cool, aloof teenager, whispered among themselves:
“Who is he?”
“Boss Shen’s brother? He looks so cool! I like this younger, bad boy type, hehe!”
“He’s so handsome! Boss Shen’s family has amazing genes!”
Shen Yan entered, his face dark, and called out:
“Shen Baizhou, come here. Don’t disturb them.”
He was holding something from Shen Baizhou’s underwater lair. Shen Baizhou, realizing this, obediently went over to him, his head down.
“I know.”
He waved at Xing Nuo, who was about to start his work, mouthing the words:
“Good luck! Overthrow Shen Yan!”
Xing Nuo, understanding, his eyes crinkling into a smile, nodded eagerly.
The busy Little Vice President also had to start his day.
His task today was to review the company’s documents and offer constructive criticism.
Whenever he encountered an unfamiliar term or phrase, he would ask his smartwatch:
“Xiao Du, Xiao Du, what’s ‘economic advantage’?”
“Xiao Du, what’s a ‘growth curve’?”
“Xiao Du, Xiao Du…”
His sweet, little voice, asking questions, echoed through the office, filled with the clicking of keyboards, making the secretaries and assistants giggle.
Assistant Ke, struggling to maintain his composure, coughed and went to get some water, also bringing a cup for Xing Nuo.
Xing Nuo thanked him and offered him his bread.
After drinking some water to soothe his throat, he continued his research, asking Xiao Du more questions.
The morning passed quickly, and although not physically tired, his throat was sore from talking so much.
He went to find his brother for lunch, his voice hoarse and slightly slurred.
“I no want bwaised chicken. Salty…not yummy.”
Shen Yan, crouching down, made Xing Nuo open his mouth and checked his throat.
“It’s a bit swollen, but not inflamed.”
He ruffled Xing Nuo’s curls and said gently:
“Don’t work too hard. Take care of yourself. If you get sick, you can’t come to work.”
Xing Nuo sighed, taking his brother’s hand as they walked to the cafeteria.
“Being Little Vice Pwesident…vewy stwessful. I want give good advice…help company gwow.”
Shen Yan, amused by the little one’s serious demeanor, chuckled and said:
“It’s okay. The company has other vice presidents. Not everyone can offer useful advice.”
Xing Nuo hummed, still pondering this during lunch.
During his nap, snuggled under his blanket in his brother’s usual nap area, a brilliant idea suddenly struck him.
“Big Brother, how ’bout…we build amusement park…in company?!”
