The Whole Family Are Villains, I’m the Group Pet 182

Chapter 182

These ten minutes were excruciating.

The ordinary people, defenseless, could only watch as the players fought the two man-eating monsters.

They also had to be constantly vigilant, wary of anyone who might be a monster in disguise, ready to attack from behind.

The players, their props and abilities dwindling, barely managed to survive the ten minutes.

The train announcement beeped, and the monsters, their bloody maws snapping shut, reluctantly put their human masks back on.

They sat down in the front, staring blankly ahead.

The team leader, exhausted, was helped to a seat, collapsing onto it, panting.

“We can only block them one more time. You have one chance.”

Xing Nuo nodded, his gaze on the two monsters in the front.

He then noticed the players from Guild Zero One.

They were lounging casually, having retreated to the safest spot the moment the monsters attacked, watching with amusement as the other players risked their lives protecting the ordinary people.

Xing Nuo turned to the team leader and asked:

“That guild…always like this?”

The team leader chuckled wryly. Certain things about Central City and the dungeons couldn’t be revealed to ordinary people, restricted by the rules.

But he still offered some information.

“They’re all lunatics. I don’t know where Sang Ming found them. In dungeons, you have to watch out for them as well as the monsters.”

Xing Nuo repeated the name “Sang Ming” silently, confirming he didn’t recognize it, and nodded.

“I see.”

He turned to the others and discussed how to attack the monsters.

The team leader gave them two ordinary knives, not props, unaffected by the dungeon’s rules.

Xing Nuo took one, and just then, the train announcement sounded:

[Passengers boarding, please find your seats. The train is about to depart.]

Xing Nuo looked at the doors, but no new passengers boarded.

A player explained, “Many cars on this train. No one boarded ours this time.”

How many people are on this train? Xing Nuo wondered. How many have already died?

He gripped the knife, and, under An Zimuo’s worried gaze, stood up and walked towards the two monsters.

He reached them. They sat quietly, their eyes vacant, during the train’s transit phase.

As they looked at him, Xing Nuo raised the knife and swiftly stabbed the closest one.

As expected, the monster, although enraged, was restricted by the rules and couldn’t fight back, only roaring.

Its strength no greater than a human’s, the knife easily pierced its flesh, and it dissolved into a puddle of black goo.

The other passengers, watching Xing Nuo, their faces a mixture of shock and awe, seeing him kill the monster, some burst into tears.

Finally, a chance!

The exhausted players sighed in relief, their lips curving into smiles.

The other monster didn’t even have time to react before the other passengers, emboldened, swarmed it, their fists raining down.

The two monsters dealt with, they collapsed onto their seats, their faces grim and dirty, but their eyes shining with relief.

Xing Nuo, also smiling, tucked the knife into his waistband and sat down beside the team leader.

“Two monsters down, but there are still many people in this car. There must be more.”

The team leader nodded, his gaze fixed on Xing Nuo.

“You said you could identify the hidden monsters?”

Xing Nuo nodded. He did have a way.

He stood up, his gaze sweeping over the passengers, and as his eyes landed on a certain face, the beep in his mind intensified.

Like a small, insistent alarm.

As if something, despite its limitations, was desperately trying to warn him.

Xing Nuo’s eyes narrowed, a plan forming in his mind.

He leaned closer to the team leader and whispered:

“How do you get high-level energy stones?”

The team leader, thinking he was about to reveal the monster’s identity, was stunned.

He looked at Xing Nuo, his expression changing. He had assumed Xing Nuo was just an ordinary person, not even an ability user.

But now, mentioning “energy stones,” as if he knew something, the team leader no longer underestimated him.

“High-level props and energy stones are randomly dropped in dungeons. That’s the only way.”

Xing Nuo shook his head.

“No. There’s another way. Steal them.”

The team leader gasped, then lowered his voice.

“What are you planning? We don’t have many!”

Xing Nuo could tell they were poor.

“I know. But you want props, right?”

He glanced at the Guild Zero One players, a sweet smile playing on his lips, his golden curls and delicate features making him look almost angelic,

but his words were sharp.

“Let’s cooperate. I want the energy stones. You get the props.”

He had noticed Feng-ge’s intense, almost murderous, gaze.

Xing Nuo didn’t like killing.

But self-defense was acceptable.

The team leader, stunned, stammered:

“Are you serious? Props are bound to players! Useless to you!”

Xing Nuo patted his shoulder, grinning, his teeth flashing.

“Don’t worry. I have a way.”

“Just attack him from behind when he makes his move.”

And with that, he began his performance.

He stood up, his curls seeming to bristle with indignation, his eyes slightly red, his nose wrinkled, his hands on his hips, and yelled:

“You lied! You promised to share the props!”

The team leader, caught off guard, quickly played along.

“You were supposed to help us kill the monsters! Did you do anything?!”

Their argument attracted everyone’s attention, especially the Guild Zero One players, who were watching with amusement.

“They’re fighting already? Players and ordinary people cooperating? Never lasts.”

Feng-ge, watching Xing Nuo’s seemingly genuine anger, chuckled.

“He’s asking for it.”

He had been waiting for an opportunity to attack Xing Nuo.

Xing Nuo and the team leader, pulled apart, their faces red with anger, their cooperation over, glared at each other.

“Even if I find the monster, I won’t tell you!”

Xing Nuo, his arms crossed, sat down with An Zimuo.

An Zimuo, confused, paced back and forth, scratching his head.

“What happened, Xing Nuo? Why are you fighting?”

Xing Nuo’s face was cold, his voice tight.

“We agreed…he’d give me a prop. We ordinary people…no way to protect ourselves.”

“But he broke his promise. How can he be so dishonest?”

An Zimuo sighed and patted his shoulder.

“Don’t be angry. They can easily trick us.”

Their cooperation over, Feng-ge changed seats, moving closer to Xing Nuo.

Xing Nuo knew what he was planning. He’ll attack me at the next stop.

He chose a seat near the hidden monster, making it easier for Feng-ge.

He glanced at a girl with a doll-like face, his eyes narrowing slightly, and sent An Zimuo to the back of the car.

“I think I dropped my phone back there. Zimuo, can you go look for it? I don’t want to be near that team leader.”

An Zimuo, unsuspecting, sighed and went to the back.

The train reached another station, and the doll-faced girl’s pupils changed, turning into vertical slits.

Scales, dark and rough, appeared on her skin, her hair falling out, jagged teeth erupting from her mouth, her appearance grotesque.

Xing Nuo, meeting her gaze, saw her lunge at him.

Screams echoed from the back, An Zimuo yelling his name.

But Xing Nuo didn’t move, seemingly frozen, staring at the approaching monster.

At the last moment, he rolled to the side, dodging her attack.

Feng-ge walked over, grabbed Xing Nuo, and pushed him towards the monster.

“I don’t know why our Guild Leader wants you dead, but you’ll never find out.”

He grinned, anticipating his reward.

Xing Nuo smiled, his eyes bright, and just as he was about to be pushed towards the monster, he grabbed Feng-ge’s arm, twisting it, pinning him.

Feng-ge, surprised, was about to scoff when he felt a sharp pain in his chest.

He looked down and saw a dagger, blood gushing from the wound, his vision blurring.

Just as he reached for his life-saving prop, Xing Nuo, his arm around his neck, swiftly switched places with him.

The monster’s claws, slashing, tore into Feng-ge’s head.

Feng-ge, his eyes wide with shock and disbelief, his hand still clutching his unused prop, collapsed, dead.

His last thought: How did this happen?!
