Mu Chenxing was furious.
Of course, he didn’t show it.
He beckoned to Pei Yao.
The Alpha who had been squatting shamelessly on the wall instantly darted to his side. “Got some needs?”
The other Alphas followed suit, teleporting forward a good ten meters or so.
Mu Chenxing paused, then smiled and asked, “If I want to report an admiral from the Military District, which department should I file the complaint with? Would anyone actually check the president’s email?”
Pei Yao blinked, his face thick as steel. “Just report it straight to me. That admiral from the Fourth Military District is a real piece of work. I’ll sort him out for you.”
Mu Chenxing: “…”
The crowd of Omegas: “…”
The Alphas who had perked up their ears to eavesdrop muttered among themselves:
“Is this still our boss?”
“He’s gotten a bit shameless. I barely recognize him.”
“Way too shameless. Looks like an imposter.”
Mu Chenxing pretended not to hear the distant murmurs, withdrew his smile, and said, “Since the Alliance Government and the Military District care so much about us and cherish us so deeply, our mental health must be a top priority too. Yet Admiral Pei Yao of the Fourth Military District hasn’t led by example. He’s subjected the Alliance’s very first batch of enlisting Omegas—the frail, anxious ones—to excessive surveillance and overexposure. He hasn’t given us basic respect or humane care. Instead, he’s used us Omegas to grandstand for attention and entertain the Military District’s leadership. Hell, it even looks like the recruitment of Omegas was just a ploy to supply the Military District with erotic services.”
Pei Yao was stunned.
The assembled Alpha leaders were stunned too.
The Omegas: Here it comes! Here it comes! The Mu Chenxing who dominated the Alliance First Military Academy has emerged!
Sympathetic gazes turned toward the leaders on the wall.
After unleashing that torrent, Mu Chenxing stared straight at Pei Yao. “Admiral Pei, do you think my complaint holds water? Anything I need to add?”
Pei Yao: “…”
Meeting the calm yet threatening beauty in his little fiancé’s eyes, he switched tacks decisively. “Misunderstanding! Total misunderstanding! Admiral Pei Yao of the Fourth Military District is renowned for his integrity and selflessness. He’s utterly devoted to his fiancé—how could he do something so heinous and outrageous? Must be a misunderstanding.”
Mu Chenxing: “Is that so? Then now…” He glanced around at the surrounding Alphas.
“They were just passing by,” Pei Yao said, turning his head with a toothy grin. “Right? You guys were just passing by?”
The group of Alphas: “…”
Pei Yao clenched his fist.
“Yes, yes! I was just passing by.”
“I’m different—I was heading to see Vice General Cen—oh hey, Vice General, you’re right here!”
“Ow, I was on my way to Logistics to pick up some gear.”
“I-I—he’s not feeling well. I’m taking him to the Medical Department!”
“What—yeah, yeah, I’m not feeling well—ow, I can barely stand!”
“I’m not feeling well either. I’m heading to Medical too!”
The pack of Alphas—arms slung over shoulders, limping and clutching stomachs—scattered, including Cen Yude, who had supposedly come for an inspection.
The wall cleared in an instant.
All that remained at the gate were New Recruit Camp head Fu Yuntao and Lin Chuan standing brazenly, plus the medical team that had been dragged over that morning.
Mu Chenxing pointed upward.
Pei Yao chuckled dryly, tapped his wristband twice. “Reconnaissance Battalion, pull back your gear. If I spot one more Reconnaissance Drone, everyone above lieutenant rank scrubs toilets for three months.”
The drones hovering in midair whooshed away.
Pei Yao immediately crowed his achievement. “See? All gone.”
Mu Chenxing: “Then what’s you doing here?”
Pei Yao puffed up righteously. “I’m the Military District head. It’s my responsibility—”
“You can watch, but I’ve got one little request.”
Pei Yao halted.
Mu Chenxing: “We’re fragile Omegas. We’ve been gawked at like monkeys for half a day—our delicate hearts are wounded.” He shot a glare at someone who burst out laughing. “I think we deserve a bit of mental compensation.”
Pei Yao held back a laugh. “Mm, cash?”
Mu Chenxing: “The Military District can do backroom deals?”
Pei Yao: “Cough, not in principle.”
In other words, screw principles if Mu Chenxing said so.
Mu Chenxing was speechless. “We don’t want money. We want fairness.”
Pei Yao blinked blankly. “What do you mean?”
Mu Chenxing: “Anyone can watch us, but they pass a test first.
“We’re half a company, so we’ll pick reps like a company does.
“Each company sends three guys, we send three. Winners get one hour of close-up viewing rights.” He pointed at the wall. “Right here, up close.
“Oh, and only three companies a day. We’ve got training too—we can’t just fight all day, right?”
Pei Yao caught on. “So if you win, you go watch them?”
Mu Chenxing arched a brow. “Of course. Fair’s fair, isn’t it?”
The Omegas caught on too, buzzing with excitement:
“Yeah, yeah! Super fair!”
“They watch us, we watch them back!”
“I want to see abs!”
“Me too!”
Pei Yao: “…”
He’d been a leader long enough to spot the ploy.
Great idea, sure—but his little star hadn’t seen his abs yet. How could he ogle someone else’s?
Mu Chenxing locked eyes with him. “Admiral, my proposal’s pretty fair, right? Not just fair—it flips the current mess on its head. Won’t disrupt our training much, satisfies the other companies’ curiosity, lets them see our training and strength. And if we win, we check out their sessions, tweak our own training accordingly.”
Pei Yao: “…”
Mu Chenxing: “Or does that mean Alphas can watch Omegas train, but not vice versa? Are the Military District’s Alphas that shy and reserved? Hiding something shady in their training? Or is it that Omegas aren’t allowed—”
“Enough.” Pei Yao rubbed his forehead. “I’ll set it up. Right now!”
Mu Chenxing pressed. “How?”
Pei Yao ground his teeth inwardly. “I’ll draft an announcement. Blast it across the Entire Military District! New rules. That work?”
Mu Chenxing, oblivious to his schemes: “Fine, then write it now.”
Pei Yao backpedaled. “An Entire Military District announcement needs careful wording back in the office—”
“Show me when it’s done, then send.” Mu Chenxing advanced, step by step.
Pei Yao glanced around—the Omegas were a few meters off, eyes wide and expectant; Fu Yuntao and the rest played dead by the gate.
Helpless, he lowered his voice. “Baby, I’m the admiral!”
Mu Chenxing huffed. “Who started bullying us!”
Pei Yao cried injustice. “I didn’t! I just came to see you. I even chewed them out!”
Mu Chenxing: “Then why didn’t they scatter before, but bolted now?”
Pei Yao, straight-faced: “That’s how they are. Need a beating.”
“Pei Yao!”
Pei Yao: “…Fine, I’ll write. Right now.”
He grumbled, “I’ll follow up with another announcement later: Weather’s turning cool—no bare chests or abs in training. Vulgar and improper!”
Mu Chenxing ignored him. “Write fast. Send it now!”
Pei Yao: “…”
He slunk away and drafted the announcement dejectedly, adding limits on company participation—daily random draw of three via the System. Companies could forfeit but still took the slot till next day.
In short, every restriction maxed out to minimize disturbances.
True to his word, Mu Chenxing pinned his arm, scrutinizing every character for loopholes before letting him send.
Pei Yao sneaked a butt pinch behind his body’s cover, whispering, “Baby’s threatening me now. Time for some fleshly repayment.”
Mu Chenxing: “…”
He grabbed the offending hand, fake-smiling. “Which company are you from? Announcement hasn’t kicked in yet—you got no viewing rights.”
Pei Yao caressed his fingers instead, grinning. “I’m the admiral. I got rights—”
“Oh, you wanna watch Omegas, huh~~” Mu Chenxing shook him off coolly. “Makes sense. Sixty-three young, varied Omegas right here in front of you. Your poor, utterly un-Omega-like fiancé’s nothing by comparison—New Recruit Company Mu Chenxing signing off. Won’t keep the admiral from enjoying the others.”
Pei Yao’s smile froze.
Mu Chenxing seized the chance to slip back to the Omega group.
Pei Yao watched them cheer and swarm Mu Chenxing, chuckling helplessly as he rubbed his nose and retreated.
Minutes later.
Back in his office, Cen Yude heard a knock, looked up, and shot to his feet. “Admiral, is there—”
“Seen the announcement?” Pei Yao beamed.
Cen Yude retreated two steps at the smile, steadied himself. “Not yet. Checking now.”
He pulled up the Holo-Screen, scanning the fresh Military District memo.
Pei Yao preened. “My baby just drafted those terms. Perfect fix for all the issues~~ Have your secretaries study it!”
Cen Yude: “…Ah, yes! I’ll pass it down!”
Pei Yao nodded.
“Oh, right.” He casually dropped the smile. “Can’t just drop in on the Omegas’ training anymore.”
He sighed bitterly. “My baby’s jealous. Doesn’t want me eyeing other Omegas… Sigh, Omegas are so clingy, such heavy vinegar drinkers.”
Cen Yude: “…”
Pei Yao wasn’t done. “No training duties for me going forward. I’ll randomly inspect three companies a day, guide on-site.”
Cen Yude: “…”
Randomly pick three to fight the Omegas, so he’ll “randomly” inspect three?
In the next hour, the same spiel echoed through Command Battalion, Warship Battalion, Mecha Battalion… The Military District’s massive Administrative Building got a full tour from the big boss.
By the time Mu Chenxing and crew wrapped training, dragging weary bodies to the Cafeteria, weird stares greeted them.
Mu Chenxing tensed instantly, nerves on edge, subtly falling behind Tong Xiao. He whispered, “You see those looks? Are they staring at me?”
Tong Xiao, hanging by a thread, eyelids too heavy to lift, brushed it off. “So what if they stare? Even if they stare holes through you, they won’t dare touch you.”
Crazy?
Mu Chenxing: “…Not that kind. Just… weird.”
Mainly, he’d been training all day—the issue wasn’t him.
But anything drawing this attention was 120% Pei Yao’s doing, that sly bastard.
As he pondered, the Command Battalion head from that afternoon sidled up.
The Omegas bristled, glaring:
“What do you want?”
“Who you looking for? Talk from there!”
“What’s with getting so close?”
The Command Battalion Alpha threw up his hands. “Not hitting on anyone, no harassment! Just wanna chat with the boss’s wife!”
The Omegas got it, parting like the sea.
Mu Chenxing: “…”
Boss’s wife, my ass!
The Command Battalion Alpha grinned sheepishly. “Boss’s wife, relax. Our boss is the cleanest guy alive—he doesn’t like Omegas at all—oh, I mean, except you. Seven years with him, never seen him give another Omega the time of day. Your spot’s rock-solid! No need to get jealous, haha~~”
Mu Chenxing: “…?”
Jealous of what?
Under his friends’ bizarre stares, he hesitated. “Uh, thanks?”
The Alpha beamed. “No problem at all.”
He slipped over a note. “Cough, take a look. These are our battalion’s company codes. If you draw any of these, just… compete easy. We’ll put on a hell of a show for you~ Oh, and we pooled funds for afternoon tea. Guaranteed satisfying visit.”
Mu Chenxing: “…”
The Omegas: “…”
Targeted at the afternoon announcement? Guaranteed loss, guaranteed setup?
…Why did it feel like gigolos hawking their wares?
