Chapter 107: Presenting Flowers
It seemed that once it came to Nuonuo’s matters, Fei Jing’s proud and wanton personality would become hesitant.
Perhaps because his refusal was too decisive, Fei Jing, in a daze, finally realized how much he valued Nuonuo.
His eyes fell on the light reflected from the mirror in front of him. Fei Jing saw his own tightly pursed lips in the mirror, as well as the mark pressed between his brows.
With a barely perceptible sigh, Fei Jing lowered his eyes, his eyes once again filled with his usual distance and indifference. He turned his head, his hair tracing a shallow arc in the air, and said to the director, “Nuonuo is still young. The little actors who present flowers are all four or five years old. And the time is too tight, so it’s too late.”
Mainly, Fei Jing was not very willing to expose Nuonuo to the spotlight. Nuonuo’s personality was simple and soft, and he could be coaxed away with just a piece of candy.
If he entered the chaotic big dye vat of the entertainment industry, he might be led astray by someone with ulterior motives.
At least not now. At the very least, Nuonuo had to have a certain amount of judgment before Fei Jing would be willing to shed this thick protective shell and let Nuonuo go and explore.
Nuonuo lay on his brother’s shoulder, still foolishly playing with his brother’s long hair, twirling the golden strands around his fingers, and occasionally letting out a giggle.
Hearing his brother call his name, Nuonuo quickly turned his little face and leaned forward. “Brother, I’m here!”
Fei Jing looked at the out-of-it Nuonuo, his eyes couldn’t help but gently curve upwards. He poked his soft, white, chubby cheek with his fingertip and said with a bit of amusement, “Aren’t you silly?”
Nuonuo anxiously clenched his little fists and quickly defended himself. “I’m not silly! I got a little red flower yesterday!”
The other little friends didn’t have one!
The smile on Fei Jing’s lips reappeared, and he nodded with a soft “hmm.” “Then I was wrong.”
The director on the side watched and couldn’t help but crouch down, propping his chin on his hand and teasing Nuonuo. “Little friend, do you want to go on stage and be a little guest who presents flowers?”
Nuonuo was held in his brother’s arms, feeling very secure. Hearing the director’s words, he didn’t bury his little head but instead opened his big eyes and asked, “What is a wittle guest? You can’t add ice to fwowers. They’re not yummy.”
The director was so amused his beard trembled with laughter. He clutched his stomach and laughed for a while before saying, “You’ve even eaten flowers?”
Nuonuo nodded his little head. “Brother gave me some to eat.”
Now the director laughed even more happily, like a big white goose with its neck craned.
Fei Jing and the makeup artist on the side heard the director laugh, and their heads couldn’t help but throb with pain. “Director, you should go out now. We’re busy here!”
Under the “persuasion” of everyone, the director looked at Nuonuo with a bit of reluctance and then went to find a substitute little guest.
Fei Jing’s makeup was almost done. The assistant from the front came to call him. He straightened his performance clothes and temporarily handed Nuonuo over to the manager. “You take Nuonuo to the audience seats in front of the stage. You have to watch him…”
The manager listened to Fei Jing’s nagging instructions, let out a light “tsk,” and thought to herself that she never expected this self-centered big star to be a “little brother-con”!
After listening to Fei Jing’s instructions with a headache, the manager quickly took Nuonuo to the front audience seats and sat down.
This was a music recording variety show, with the purpose of selecting more outstanding new singers. After several rounds of selection, the top three winners would get the opportunity to release an album.
Fei Jing, as a top celebrity in the entertainment industry, was invited to be a music mentor for this episode, to comment on the contestants’ singing.
Fei Jing’s mentor seat was on the far left, so the manager took Nuonuo to the audience seats on the left and found a corner seat that wouldn’t obstruct the other audience members.
Rows and rows of people flashed before Nuonuo’s eyes. The lights above his head were as bright as day. He tilted his little head, still in a daze. After the lights went black and then bright again, he saw his brother take his seat at the mentor’s table.
“Wow, brother is up there!”
Nuonuo quickly stretched out his little hands and bounced up to point for the manager sister.
The manager felt that the bouncing Nuonuo was like a little happy bean. She pursed her lips, a smile flashing in her eyes, and said gently, “Yes, yes, yes. I see him. It’s your brother.”
Nuonuo’s previously listless expression immediately disappeared. He held his little face with full energy and vitality, swinging his little feet as he watched the stage with relish.
The audience seats gradually filled up, with almost ninety percent of them being Fei Jing’s fans. Some people were even holding Fei Jing’s banners, whispering excitedly with the fans next to them.
Hearing the suppressed, excited “ahh”s of the girls next to her, the manager sister shook her head with a bit of a sigh.
Although she couldn’t compliment Fei Jing’s stinky and cold temper, looking at Fei Jing on stage, who was so exquisite that even every strand of his hair seemed to be dancing, she still had to admit that the other was indeed outstandingly handsome.
Especially after he was all dressed up, he was as brilliant as a diamond, so dazzling that with one glance, one could only notice him.
Although the show was the main stage for the new singers, from the reaction of the fans below, Fei Jing was almost the undisputed king of popularity.
It was Nuonuo’s first time sitting in the audience and watching all sorts of handsome big brothers sing on stage. He also hummed along, shaking his little head in self-intoxication.
The competition was gradually coming to an end. At some point, a string of little radish heads had appeared next to Nuonuo, all of them tilting their heads to look at him.
When Nuonuo noticed them, he was also startled. The little pig-like humming in his mouth also stopped, and his little face flushed red as he shyly pursed his lips.
The two sides looked at each other for a while. One of the leading little girls asked in confusion, “Are you also here to give flowers to the brothers?”
Nuonuo let out a dazed “ah,” his little eyes filled with confusion as he blinked and tilted his head. “Give fwowers to brother? But I don’t have any fwowers.”
Nuonuo held out his little hands for her to see. They were empty, with nothing in them.
The little girl looked to be almost five. She was quite organized in her work. She explained to Nuonuo, “The assistant big sister will give them to us later. You’d better not sit there. We’re going on stage!”
As the little group leader, the little girl quickly pulled Nuonuo up and arranged him at the end of the line according to his height.
The little guests who were presenting flowers were all wearing overalls, with long-sleeved sweatshirts of different colors on top, which happened to be the same brand as the overalls Nuonuo was wearing.
It was precisely because of this that the little girl and the other little guests had mistaken Nuonuo for one of them.
And so, Nuonuo, at the end of the line, perfectly blended in with the little guests who were presenting flowers. Like a little chick, he followed behind a string of little friends, his little face dazed as he wobbled onto the stage.
The assistant big sister was in charge of handing out flowers to the little friends at the stage entrance. The bouquets were filled with common roses, lilies, and so on, with bright colors and a natural arrangement.
The big sister crouched down and handed out the flowers one by one. When it was Nuonuo’s turn, she even let out a confused “huh?” “How come there’s one extra?”
The big sister looked at Nuonuo’s upturned, soft white little face and, thinking it was an arrangement from above, didn’t think too much about it and handed him the extra bouquet she had prepared.
Patting her hands, the big sister even half-crouched down and reminded the little friends in front of her again. “Everyone, remember to find your corresponding brother when you go on stage and hand the flowers to them, you know?”
The little friends all nodded and said loudly that they knew.
Nuonuo was mixed in among them, holding a bouquet that was bigger than his little face, and he obediently followed along with a nod of his little head, his head dizzy.
“Alright, you guys can go now!”
The big sister turned her head and glanced at the stage. It was just their turn to present flowers to the singing guests, so she quickly urged them on.
The little friends lined up and entered one by one.
Nu-Nuo followed at the end, his two little hands holding the heavy bouquet, his walking wobbly, like a clumsy little penguin that had just learned to walk.
Halfway there, Nuonuo’s little head was directly dizzy. He looked up and found that there was no one in front of him!
After being dazed on the stage for a little while, Nuonuo finally quickly turned back, his little feet running at a flying speed. He finally caught up with the team halfway and became the little tail at the end of the line again.
The new singer who had just finished singing on stage also noticed this little cutie who had almost gotten lost and couldn’t help but whisper a sentence, a smile on his face.
Fei Jing, on the other hand, had noticed Nuonuo the moment he went on stage.
But Nuonuo was holding a bouquet that was taller than his face, which completely blocked his line of sight, so he didn’t notice his brother looking at him at all.
Tapping his earpiece, Fei Jing was about to tell the director that there was a situation on stage, but before he could even speak, he saw the lost little one running straight towards him.
Before going on stage, Nuonuo had heard the assistant big sister say such a long string of words that he was dizzy and hadn’t remembered anything, only that he was supposed to give flowers to his brother.
And so, after the other little friends had each given a flower to a big brother, Nuonuo turned his little head and stood there in a daze, looking left and right.
His gaze met a slender figure, and Nuonuo’s little eyes lit up as he ran towards the other person.
“Brother, fwowers for you!”
Nuonuo stood on his tiptoes, stretched out his little arms, and held up the flowers in his hands, trying his best to hand them to his brother.
Fei Jing saw Nuonuo’s starry eyes, which were framed by the lilies, as if all the sunlight had fallen into them, making one reluctant to even blink.
And so, under the incredulous and shocked faces of the other contestants on the stage, they witnessed this sharp-tongued and cold mentor half-crouch down, the frost on his face melting in an instant.
Fei Jing’s eyes reflected a small figure holding flowers. The corners of his lips lifted slightly, and he reached out to take the bouquet.
“Thank you, Nuonuo.”
Nuonuo quickly shook his little head. “You’re welcome. Brother, you have fwowers too!”
Fei Jing let out a light laugh. “Yes, it’s all thanks to our Nuonuo.”
With that, Fei Jing held the flowers in one hand and picked up Nuonuo with the other, standing up and walking off the stage.
“Sit obediently. It’s brother’s turn to sing.”
Fei Jing handed Nuonuo back to the manager and rubbed his head.
Nuonuo nodded and looked at Fei Jing with anticipation as he walked back onto the stage and stood in the very center.
