Zheng Yongzhou stiffly turned his head. “Earlier, Kui Ya seduced me, saying that once the deed was done, she would marry me and bear my children.”
He had been smug at the time, thinking that even in his fifties, he still had such charm that a young girl was crying to marry him. Though he feared her special abilities a bit, since she had offered to bear his children—and wasn’t marriage and kids the most important thing for a woman?—Zheng Yongzhou’s lust had clouded his judgment, and he had actually agreed.
In the end, this woman was even older than him, and from what Chu Yi implied, she had black widow tendencies too. He was nearly scared to death!
With all the questions answered, Chu Yi waved his hand, signaling for someone to take Kui Ya away.
Kui Ya panicked. “Wait! I’ve said everything I should. Now help me remove the curse!”
Chu Yi hadn’t just ordinarily transferred the curse; he had included the backlash. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have turned into the Snake Woman earlier. Moreover, she could feel that with all the snakes dead, she wouldn’t survive much longer.
Chu Yi frowned. “You don’t know curse removal?”
Kui Ya nodded frantically. “The Curse Removal Method has been lost!”
There had been no need for it in the first place—as long as all the cursed targets died, the curse naturally lifted. Their cursing methods were passed down orally, but the removal method was only recorded in a cowhide book. Later, due to wars and migrations, no one knew it anymore.
Old Zheng sucked in a cold breath upon hearing this. So without running into Chu Yi, his entire family would have died out?
Chu Yi’s gaze turned cold. “Then you’d best hope those few snakes have long lifespans. Though at your age, you probably don’t mind living three to five years less.”
He was a fair man—whatever Kui Ya had done to others, he did right back to her!
Kui Ya choked on his retort. She had cooperated precisely so Chu Yi would remove the curse. Hearing his refusal, she immediately unleashed a torrent of abuse. “You little punk, don’t think I’m afraid of you, mmph…”
Old Zheng had the bodyguards gag her mouth. Chu Yi wasn’t afraid and directly instructed the bodyguards to kill a snake if she didn’t behave. Kui Ya instantly quieted down and obediently let the bodyguards take her away.
“Master, about this…” Old Zheng wanted to plead for his second grandson but feared the master would think they were being greedy. After all, the Medicinal Pills had been allocated one per person; it was the second grandson’s wife who had blindly believed others and lost it.
Old Zheng held back, but the Second Young Madam didn’t care and begged Chu Yi directly. “Master, I was wrong before. I shouldn’t have doubted you…”
Chu Yi cut her off. “Forget it. It was an innocent mistake—you trusted the wrong person.” He directly pulled another Qi-Supplementing Pill from his pocket. “Don’t lose this one.”
The Second Young Madam wept with joy. “Thank you, thank you, Master! I definitely won’t lose it this time!”
Perhaps due to her psychological trauma, she turned and stuffed the pill into her husband’s mouth, even covering it with her hand. Luckily, the Qi-Supplementing Pill was only yellow bean-sized; otherwise, Zheng Wenbin would have choked unprepared.
The Eldest Young Master’s couple, Zheng Danrui, and the others laughed at the younger/older brother’s disheveled state. At last, the storm had passed.
After all the commotion, everyone was utterly exhausted. They left bodyguards to watch Kui Ya and the others, then returned to their rooms separately.
Chu Yi was surprised to find that President Yu hadn’t followed him into his room. “President Yu, aren’t you staying with me?”
Yu Qingxian turned back. “Those snakes are all like that now—they shouldn’t be able to crawl in anymore.”
Chu Yi didn’t press. “Alright then. If President Yu can’t sleep, feel free to come find me anytime.”
The next day, Old Zheng sent thank-you gifts early. Besides the Purple Flower Bamboo Chu Yi had eyed before, there was a famous calligraphy scroll and several antiques—a generous gesture.
Chu Yi accepted without ceremony and asked, “Where are Old Master Zheng and Miss Zheng?”
Old Zheng gave an awkward smile. “They went to the Tan Family. After what they did, we can’t just swallow this loss.”
The Tan Family was the Second Young Madam’s natal family.
He should have gone himself, but with so much happening these past two days and only falling asleep in the latter half of the night, he was truly not up to it. Plus, his son said he felt full of energy and vigor, so he had Xiao Rui accompany him instead.
“The Second Young Madam didn’t say anything?” He saw her strolling in the garden with Zheng Wenbin.
“She said she’s washing her hands of it—let her father handle it however he wants. See, she even turned off her Mobile Phone.” Old Zheng was clearly very satisfied with the Second Young Madam’s attitude, smiling broadly.
Chu Yi nodded. It seemed the Second Young Madam had been thoroughly disillusioned by her natal family, right or wrong.
He left the rest to Old Zheng and bid farewell with President Yu.
Leaving the Zheng Family, Yu Qingxian asked, “Where to? Back to the villa or to my company to sign the contract?”
“Back to the villa. I need to figure out how to revive this Purple Flower Bamboo.”
Yu Qingxian said nothing more, dropped him off at the villa entrance, and drove to work alone.
Chu Yi hugged his items and watched President Yu’s car drive away. Suddenly, he felt the surroundings a bit quiet. These past two days, he had been going in and out with President Yu—having one less person by his side felt a little unaccustomed…
